Chapter 549 Daddy! You're Finally Back!

"Thanks." As Sarah stepped out of the car, she inadvertently brushed past Benjamin, stepping on the edge of his leather shoes without noticing. She jerked to the side as if she'd been scalded.

Benjamin tried to offer assistance, but his hand swiped through thin air. He casually retracted it, sweeping his cool gaze around the area.

"The Miller residence is quite nice, it has good energy from a design standpoint," he commented.

This was Antonio's villa, and he was a man of taste which was reflected in his choice of dwelling. The house was intended for family living and had been meticulously maintained, naturally looking superb.

Sarah watched Benjamin's gaze intensely, noting it seemed as if it was his first visit here. He moved forward a few steps with curious strides, his demeanor that of someone appreciating art with deep contemplation. She followed his movements closely.

Then, she gave a wry smile, silently mocking herself. Why couldn't she let go? It had been confirmed repeatedly—Benjamin was the Harrington family's heir, not the Antonio who had fallen into the sea. Their backgrounds and habits were worlds apart.

Taking a deep breath, Sarah felt it was time to accept the truth. She nodded. "Yeah, it's a great place."

Benjamin walked back towards her, not intending to linger any longer. "Since you are alright, I'll be taking my leave now."

Sarah's lips twitched, feeling a pang of discomfort. As a host, it seemed impolite not to invite him in, but... she hesitated.

"Let my driver take you back to the hospital then," she offered, not wanting to get caught up in false hopes and suspicions. "Next time, I'll take you out for a meal."

Benjamin's enigmatic gaze felt like a vortex, threatening to pull her in. He watched her for a long while before finally responding with a simple, "Sure."

Sarah couldn't decide if she felt more relieved or disappointed as she reached for her cell phone to call her family driver. Before she could dial, a cascade of footsteps sounded from behind, followed by Harper and Ethan's soft, sweet voices.

"Mommy!"

Sarah and Benjamin turned simultaneously to see the two adorable little ones running toward them.

Harper and Ethan had heard the car and knew their mother was home. However, since she hadn't appeared for a while, they couldn't resist coming out to check.

Halfway through their sprint, the children suddenly stopped dead in their tracks, disbelief painting their faces as they stared at the two figures ahead of them. Their round eyes bulged as they exchanged a glance before rubbing them, thinking they might be seeing things.

'That man.. Could it be Daddy?

'There is no mistake! It really is Daddy!'

In an instant, the two kids couldn't contain themselves any longer. Bursting into tears, they hurled themselves at Benjamin, clinging to his legs, "Daddy! You finally came back!"

Benjamin was utterly taken aback. Before he could react, was embraced tightly by the two kidss, one on each side, their cries loud and filled with a mix of sorrow and relief.

"Daddy... where did you go? Why did it take you so long to come back?!"

"Yeah, Daddy, do you know how much we and Mommy missed you? While you were gone, Harper couldn't even sleep at night... Daddy, will you continue to tell me stories tonight?"

"Daddy, Daddy..."

Ethan and Harper poured out all their pent-up longing in a series of sobs and words.

Usually, to keep from worrying their mom and to avoid stirring up sad memories, they restrained themselves from mentioning their father's absence.

But just as their mother had said… Antonio really came back!

Since waking up from his car accident, this was the first time Benjamin had such close contact with children.

He stood there, stiff and unsure, not knowing where to put his hands.

He always thought he wasn't the type who liked kids—those troublesome little beings. He certainly never liked scenarios like these.

Looking down, Benjamin saw the two little ones clutching his legs, crying so hard that their tears and snot mingled, their long lashes stuck together by the dampness, their big eyes brimming with water.

The tears and snot inevitably stained his trousers—a normally repellent sight.

But strangely enough… Benjamin didn't feel angry.

A peculiar feeling flashed through his heart too quickly to grasp before it vanished without a trace.

Sarah observed the unfolding scene, a warmth inexplicably swelling in her chest. The recent soreness in her eyes resurfaced, challenging her composure.

She should have stopped the children. To them, Benjamin was a stranger, and such behavior wasn't polite...

In that moment, Sarah couldn't find the words to tell the children, "He's not him," as she gazed upon a face that bore such a striking resemblance to Antonio's.

How devastating would that revelation be?

It was just like when she first saw Benjamin.

Her lips parted and then shut, her mind a whirl of confusion seemingly unable to form words; she didn't know which syllable to utter first.

Ethan and Harper were still chattering away, the joy of rediscovered connections surging greater than any happiness before.

"Daddy… did you miss me?" Harper asked, trying to scramble up Benjamin's legs, grabbing his hands, wanting to be lifted into his embrace.

He used to love holding her!

Benjamin's brows furrowed ever so slightly. The decisive CEO was at a loss, unsure of how to react and afraid of dropping the children.

"Be careful…"

He spoke these words with a mix of concern and an almost imperceptible tenderness. Sarah didn't catch on, but he himself was taken aback.

Harper wouldn't listen though. Her father was finally home, and she wanted a hug!

The man's suit quickly wrinkled under the tiny grasping hands.

But Benjamin stood still, his eyebrows knitted together, looking as though he was enduring some discomfort.

Under the moonlight, the scar by his eye was especially noticeable.

Sarah's heart skipped a beat, and she suddenly came to her senses! This man wasn't their father!
