Chapter 904 You Only Want Other People's Children

Sofia glanced at Antonio beside her. His furrowed brows had never relaxed, and his deep eyes were inscrutable.

She sighed silently, "Doctor, how long will it take for her to recover?"

"If everything goes well, maybe ten days to two weeks."

If not, then it was uncertain.

The doctor saw the worry in their eyes and, though the news wasn't good, he had to say, "Right now, it's crucial to keep the patient's emotions stable. Anything or anyone that might upset her should be avoided to aid her recovery."

Sofia looked at Antonio. The person most likely to upset Sarah was Antonio, wasn't it?

She bit her lip, feeling distressed. After hesitating for a while, she said, "In that case, how about I stay to take care of Sarah? You've been through a lot lately; you should take some time to rest and recover."

Antonio remained motionless and silent.

After a long time, he spoke in a flat voice. "You can tell her you found a caregiver for her."

And he was that caregiver.

Even if Sarah despised him to the core, he couldn't just leave her alone.

Sofia didn't know what he was feeling when he said that, but as a friend, she naturally hoped they could reconcile. However, she also feared that Sarah might be further upset.

But seeing Antonio like this, asking him to leave Sarah's side would probably be more painful than killing him, right?

Sofia took a deep breath and said through gritted teeth, "Alright! I believe in your love for her. She will get better soon."

Back in the ward, Sarah was half-lying on the bed, reading a storybook to the children.

The children were lined up by the bed, listening obediently.

"Sarah," Sofia said casually, "I still think it's not good for the kids to stay in the hospital for too long. I'll take them back to the hotel at night. I found a caregiver for you. He'll take care of you when I'm not here."

"Oh, okay. Thank you for taking care of the kids."

"Do we need to be so polite with each other?" Sofia smiled as she tidied Sarah's hair, her nose tingling with emotion. "You need to get better soon. Then we can go back to Luminara together. I have so many places I want to take you."

After a while, as it got late, the children reluctantly said goodbye to Sarah. Even Ryan, who had woken up, was taken away by Sofia.

Strangely, Sarah treated Ryan as if he were air, seemingly forgetting the past and not recognizing him.

Not long after, Antonio walked into the ward dressed as a caregiver, with a mask covering most of his face, glasses on his eyes, and a white caregiver's cap on his head.

His completely different demeanor successfully fooled Sarah.

She was just a bit curious, "Do you have male caregivers now?"

Sarah felt a bit uncomfortable and wondered why Sofia had found her a male caregiver. Wouldn't that be inconvenient?

Antonio paused for a moment, then just nodded without speaking.

'How strange, why doesn't this caregiver talk? Could he be mute?' She thought.

Sarah confirmed this guess in her mind. Since Sofia had found him, she didn't doubt his identity. Besides, having a male caregiver might be good. If Antonio tried to bother her again, the caregiver could kick him out!

Seeing her let down her guard, Antonio felt slightly relieved.

For him, being by her side was probably the only comfort.

Then, he took care of Sarah's meals and hygiene meticulously, without saying a word.

His appropriate sense of boundaries made Sarah increasingly satisfied with him, but also more curious, "Don't you feel stuffy always wearing a mask?"

If he took off the mask, he wouldn't be able to stay here anymore.

Antonio remained silent, carrying the hospital cafeteria tray out of the ward.

Outside, he finally released some of his pent-up emotions. The pain in his heart almost made it hard to breathe, and a tear uncontrollably slid down his cheek.

'Sarah, please, get better soon.' He thought.

When Antonio returned to the ward after adjusting his emotions, Sarah was already drowsy.

She just lifted her eyelids to glance at him, then closed her eyes again, reassured.

Antonio walked quietly over and turned off the light.

The night outside the window cast a serene illusion.

He sat down in a chair, quietly watching her.

It was as if time had stopped at that moment, and the whole world consisted only of him and her. Though they were so close, it felt like they were separated by the greatest distance.

She hadn't lost her memory, but she had forgotten the good times between them. And Eden.

Antonio's lips curled into a bitter smile. Perhaps it was better this way, forgetting the pain of losing Eden. He would bear this hardship alone. Maybe, before Sarah regained her memory, he would find Eden. Then Sarah would be well, and they would be the happiest family in the world.

But now, with Sarah's sudden condition, Antonio couldn't leave her side to search for Eden. Would this delay finding Eden even longer?

Antonio really didn't know what to do. On one side was Sarah, and on the other was Eden.

He buried his face in his hands, and after a long time, only a deep, trembling sigh remained.

In the dead of night, the occasional sound of insects could be heard outside the window.

Sarah slept fitfully, her pale face full of fear, her forehead beaded with sweat. Her body trembled slightly with the chaotic images in her dreams.

Antonio hadn't dared to sleep. Noticing her distress, he immediately checked on her, softly calling, "Sarah, are you having a nightmare?"

"Antonio."

His pupils contracted, unable to contain his joy. He trembled as he said, "Sarah, don't be afraid. I'm here."

Sarah, trapped in her nightmare, grabbed his arm tightly, sobbing, "Antonio, how could you do this to me?"

Antonio froze, his throat tightening with emotion. He didn't know what emotions Sarah was experiencing, so he did his best to comfort her.

She left red marks on his arm, but he ignored them, choking out, "I'm sorry. I won't do it again. We'll be okay from now on."

"What's the use of saying sorry?" Sarah's eyes remained closed, but she couldn't stop sobbing.

The pain in her heart seemed to seep from every pore, enveloping her in sorrow and despair. "Do you know? I was pregnant too."

"They were inside me. I felt so happy, but physically I was miserable. I never had a good night's sleep during the entire pregnancy. I was nauseous all the time, feeling like I was dying, especially knowing you didn't want them. You only wanted Lisa and her child."
