Chapter 393 A Ransom for Survival
"Surely, you three are Sarah's offspring!" The words sent a jolt through Brian, causing his nerves to tighten. Harper and Ethan, too, were gripped by fear. The realization dawned upon all three children - they had been abducted.
The car, however, had already set into motion, and the opulent neighborhood they were in was scarcely populated. Even if they were to scream for assistance, it would be too late.
"What is it that you want from us?" Brian asked, attempting to divert the kidnappers' attention while surreptitiously searching for his emergency alarm device, a precaution he had taken for such unforeseen circumstances.
The abductors, though, had come well-prepared. They forcefully restrained Brian's wrist, limiting his movement.
"Ah, the children of the affluent always come equipped with such devices," the leader of the kidnappers remarked, discarding the alarm device out of the car window where it was mercilessly crushed under the wheels.
Brian maintained his composure, understanding that there was little he could do at the moment. Both he and Ethan had been thoroughly searched, their clothes even stripped away. His only recourse was negotiation.
"What about the little girl? Let's see what she's hiding."
"Wait," Brian interjected swiftly. "My sister is a girl. Isn't it somewhat excessive for a group of men to search her?"
"Right, you can't lay a finger on my sister," Ethan chimed in, his fear momentarily overshadowed by his protective instincts.
"We're merely worried about us having something to signal for help. But rest assured, we have nothing on us," Brian stated, fixing a stern gaze on the leader of the kidnappers. "You're after money, aren't you? Name your price, and I'll meet your demands. But I implore you, don't harm my sister!"
The leader of the kidnappers looked at Brian, a hint of surprise in his eyes. "This boy will grow up to be someone significant."
The other kidnappers, who hadn't intended to harm Harper, decided to let it be after hearing Brian's plea.
The leader of the kidnappers chuckled, "Alright, little girl, step forward yourself. But remember, don't try to deceive me, or I might have to resort to violence."
Despite her fear, Harper stood her ground, not shedding a single tear. She emptied her bag, revealing nothing more than some food and toys.
"I have nothing else," she sniffed, her voice barely above a whisper.
The kidnapper then relaxed, reaching out to pinch Harper's small face. "Such a pretty little girl. It's a shame your parents aren't as good."
Ethan furrowed his brows. "What do you mean we don't have good parents?"
"If you had good parents, would you be in this predicament? Wealthy folks who don't even care about their own flesh and blood, it's only fitting that their children get kidnapped."
"Antonio is one thing, whether the old father-in-law wants him or not. But Sarah, the supposed daughter, is truly not a good person."
Ethan vaguely recognized the name of Sarah's biological father mentioned by the kidnapper, but Brian was clueless. The moment he heard the kidnapper disparaging Sarah, he became incensed...
Without warning, he lunged forward and bit the man's hand!
The kidnapper recoiled, slapping Brian across the face. "You little mongrel, you're no better than a dog."
Brian's face swelled from the impact, but he continued to glare defiantly at the kidnapper. "Don't you dare insult my mother!"
"Enough about mothers, now look at the camera," the thugs dismissed Brian's outburst, proceeding to photograph the three bound children.
Meanwhile, Sarah was in her office, about to take a sip of water when her cup inexplicably shattered, splashing scalding water all over her.
A sense of panic washed over Sarah, and she instinctively wanted to rush to Antonio's office.
However, Antonio had already left for a meeting in the southern suburbs, and due to the significance of the meeting, his phone was switched off.
Suddenly, Sarah's phone chimed with a new message, and an inexplicable wave of anxiety washed over her as she trembled while opening the message.
The sight that greeted her was horrifying - her three children, bound and held captive!
"If you wish for your children to live, bring money to the casino."
