Chapter 787 Temporary Separation
Timothy's eyes flickered with a deep light as he told her the whole truth. "But our hospital's current medical conditions might not be as good as those in Capital City, so transferring Cynthia now would be beneficial for her recovery."
He then explained some professional terms, but his main point was clear: only a hospital in the Capital City could provide Cynthia with better recovery and care.
Sarah had thought that Cynthia would slowly recover after the surgery.
She didn't expect Cynthia's condition to be so serious. They couldn't treat her here?
Her worry deepened, and she didn't speak for a moment.
Antonio had thought that having Timothy tell her personally would make it easier for Sarah to accept. Seeing her still so worried, he felt a pang of sympathy.
"Sarah," he squeezed her hand and comforted her, "Didn't Dr. Reed say that? The situation isn't as good as expected, but it's not as bad as you think. Don't worry, okay?"
"Yes." Timothy glanced at him and agreed, "Going to Capital for proper care, I believe Cynthia will recover soon."
The two of them were very much in sync.
Sarah actually understood everything but couldn't control her emotions for a moment. She took a few deep breaths and quickly adjusted, "You're right. Cynthia's condition is already better than before. As long as there's hope, she will recover."
Seeing that she fully believed them, Antonio felt a weight lift off his shoulders and relaxed a lot, "Yes, she will be fine."
He glanced at Timothy after speaking, and their eyes met, sharing a silent understanding.
Sarah noticed it too.
She looked at the two of them with a strange expression, wondering why they kept looking at each other.
But then she thought, Timothy had helped them a lot, and it was only right for Antonio to be grateful. So she said, "Dr. Reed, thank you for all your help with Cynthia."
Timothy had his hands in his lab coat pockets, "It's my duty."
The couple left the doctor's office without speaking.
The decision to transfer Cynthia to Capital City was already made. Sarah was worried about Cynthia's condition but also thought that going back to Capital City wasn't a bad thing.
After all, the kids were there, and once Cynthia's condition improved, they wouldn't have to move around anymore.
She glanced at Antonio beside her and broke the silence. "So, when are we going back?"
Antonio's eyes flickered, and he looked at her deeply, "I'll make the arrangements."
Back in Cynthia's ward, Sarah immediately saw Mary, who was holding a towel and gently wiping Cynthia's hands.
"Mary, where did you go just now?" Sarah asked.
Mary turned around absentmindedly and smiled awkwardly when she saw Antonio behind Sarah, "Sarah, I just went out for a walk. I didn't want to disturb you two."
Sarah reached out to feel her forehead, "Really? You don't look so good."
Antonio didn't interrupt their conversation and turned to make a phone call outside the ward.
Mary relaxed a lot and shook her head. "I'm fine. By the way, Sarah, about Cynthia's transfer..."
"You know about it too? Well, Dr. Reed must have told you. It's okay." Sarah sat down with a sigh, "Going back to Capital City is good. After all, that's where I grew up, and I'm more familiar with it."
At least they wouldn't be troubling Mary and Timothy anymore.
She looked at the unconscious Cynthia on the bed, "I hope Cynthia can be strong enough to endure the journey."
Mary was also worried but remained determined, "Cynthia will definitely make it."
Sarah wanted to chat casually with her and said without much thought, "But isn't Dr. Reed very skilled? I remember you telling me how amazing he was when you introduced him. So why can't he help Cynthia recover now?"
She didn't mean anything by it, just a simple question.
After all, she didn't understand medical issues.
Mary pressed her lips together and didn't speak for a while, thinking Timothy was really very skilled.
Somehow, Mary had an inexplicable trust in Timothy, as if there was no medical problem he couldn't solve.
His hands seemed destined to save others.
But thinking about his attitude just now, Mary sighed, "I don't really understand either. Maybe they have their own considerations."
Given Timothy's attitude earlier, she didn't feel like talking to him anytime soon.
And even if she did ask, Timothy might not tell her.
He had always treated her like a child.
Seeing Mary's low spirits, Sarah didn't continue the topic.
Just then, Antonio finished his call and came in, "Sarah, we'll head back to Capital City early tomorrow morning. I've arranged the hospital and the private jet, so we can go straight to the hospital once we arrive."
Sarah was surprised, "So soon?"
She thought it would take at least a few days.
Antonio's expression didn't change as he gently stroked her head, "Going back to the hospital in Capital City is good for Cynthia, so the sooner, the better, right?"
The main thing was, he needed to get the chip out of his body as soon as possible.
"Alright then," Sarah replied.
Mary snapped out of her thoughts, "I'll help you pack, Sarah. I don't have anything to do this afternoon anyway."
After tomorrow, they didn't know how long it would be before they could see each other again.
Sarah didn't refuse and held her hand to comfort her, "Don't worry. Even if we go back to Capital City, I'll still take good care of Cynthia. If you have time, come visit me, or I can visit you, okay?"
She knew Mary genuinely cared about them, and parting was inevitably sad.
Mary felt a warm touch from Sarah's hand, which seemed to have a calming effect, and she nodded with a smile, "Definitely."
The two of them then organized Cynthia's medical records by date and packed their luggage.
After everything was sorted, Mary sat by Cynthia's bed for a long time. "Sarah, if... if Cynthia's condition changes, contact me anytime."
Since Kenneth's death, few people had genuinely cared for her. Although Cynthia had been mentally unstable, she had always been kind to her. Mary was really reluctant to leave her.
Sarah chuckled, "So if Cynthia fully recovers, I can't contact you?"
"Sarah." Mary was amused by her. "I'll head back now. You guys should rest early tonight. I'll come to see you off tomorrow morning."
"No need." Sarah shook her head and adjusted Mary's necklace pendant, "Just sleep in tomorrow. You don't need to see us off. I'll text you when we arrive safely."
Parting was too sad; there was no need for Mary to make the trip.
Mary's eyes flickered, and she didn't make any promises, "I'll see how it goes tomorrow."
Sarah didn't say more and saw her out of the ward.
When she returned, Antonio was sitting by the bed, shrouded in a layer of mist, his emotions unreadable.
"What are you thinking about?" Sarah walked over and stood beside Antonio.
"Nothing." Antonio snapped out of it and spoke normally, "It's just that Harold hasn't been found yet, so I think it's safer to stay here and keep an eye on the search. I'll go with you to Capital City and then come back. You take care of things in Capital City."
He squeezed her hand and looked up for her approval, "Is that okay, Sarah?"
