Chapter 190 I Hold My Wife, Who Dares to Comment

The once arrogant man hurriedly apologized to Sarah, but seeing her unmoved, he was scared and his legs went weak.

Despair filled his heart. It was over, completely over for his company. His wife wanted to say something, but her face paled when her husband scolded her.

Throughout the entire meeting, Sarah and Antonio didn't even spare them a glance.

After the official start of the parent-teacher meeting, the teachers organized a parent-child activity to promote interaction and understanding.

The first game was the three-legged race.

Ryan couldn't participate in strenuous activities due to his poor health, so Sarah stayed behind to take care of him.

Harper had always wanted to help her brother and mother accept their father.

She noticed that Ethan's attitude towards Antonio had improved in recent days and wanted them to spend more time together to resolve their differences.

So, she made an excuse that Ryan had just protected her and wanted to accompany him to watch the race.

Naturally, Ethan and Antonio became partners for the first race.

As the race was about to begin, Antonio bowed his head and tied one of his legs to Ethan's with a rope.

Beside the track, Harper cheered with clenched fists, "Dad, brother, go for it!"

Ethan nodded lightly but looked at Antonio with suspicion.

Antonio felt helpless and glanced at the other participating parents and children, who were full of confidence and cheering each other on.

His eyes flickered slightly. This was his first time participating in a race with his son, and no matter what, he had to win with Ethan.

"When the whistle blows, let's count silently together, 1, 2, 1, 2. Shall we bring home the first place together?"

Antonio rubbed his head while Ethan furrowed his brows and questioned, "Are you sure you can do it?"

Antonio chuckled lightly, "You'll see if you give it a try."

Beep beep, the whistle sounded, and the race officially began.

"Go, Mom!"
"Go, darling!"
"Go, Ethan!"
"Go, Dad!"

The enthusiastic cheers filled the surroundings, and in an instant, Ethan's competitiveness was ignited.

He forgot about the awkward feeling of competing with Antonio and immersed himself in the race.

Seeing his son following the rhythm and trying his best, Antonio noticed that there was another father-son pair ahead of them.

"Ethan, are you confident enough to accelerate?"
Antonio raised an eyebrow.

Ethan also noticed the other pair ahead and nonchalantly replied, "Just make sure you don't slow me down."

After their exchange, Antonio's rhythmic calls became even faster.

Ethan didn't feel tired at all. Instead, he increased his pace with ease, hand in hand with Antonio. Ethan silently challenged Antonio, and Antonio silently cooperated.

Soon, they surpassed the father-son pair in front of them. When Ethan and Antonio crossed the finish line together, there was a loud bang, announcing their victory.

Fire the starting pistol!

We won!

Ethan was excited and wanted to give Antonio a high-five.

But just as his hand was about to reach out, he realized that he was acting too excited, which would make the Bad Guy feel proud.

So he forcibly suppressed his inner joy, pretended to be very indifferent, and put his little hand down.

Antonio noticed all these small actions, feeling a little disappointed but also somewhat happy. At least Ethan is not rejecting him like before— they would have more time to spend together.

"Brother, you're amazing! Just now, a kid couldn't even keep up with his mom's speed."
"You were so good, you surpassed them in an instant!"

Harper and Ryan ran over excitedly to praise them after seeing their victory.
Ethan immediately raised his head proudly and said, "Of course, from now on, I'll protect Harper and Mommy."

Hearing Ethan's words, Ryan secretly clenched his small fist, determined to work harder in other areas to become stronger and protect Harper together.

The children happily surrounded them, while the teacher announced the top three winners and awarded them some notebooks as prizes. Next, she announced the next round— a two-legged race in parent-child pairs.

The children cheered instantly.

Sarah felt a bit uncomfortable as she looked at Antonio, but seeing the anticipation in the children's eyes, she and Antonio stood on the starting line together.

The race began with their legs tied together, they had to stick their upper bodies together.
Sarah could feel her slightly bulging side touching Antonio's body as they walked, sometimes at a faster pace, sometimes slower.

She subconsciously wanted to create some distance, but her body swayed and almost fell.
Antonio grabbed her and placed her arm on his arm, relying on each other to maintain balance and continue moving forward.

"Antonio..."

Suddenly being so close to Antonio, she could even hear his breathing intensify due to the fast pace.

Her face blushed quietly.

Harper, watching from below, was especially excited. Dad was doing great! It seemed like their family would truly be reunited soon.

Ethan noticed Antonio's caring gestures towards Harper and silently noted in his heart—considerate to Mom.

Ryan, covering his mouth, quietly watched Harper's softened gaze, waving his small fist in support.

Antonio saw the shyness on her face, a burning sensation rising in his throat, but he quickly lowered his gaze and reminded in a deep voice, "We'll win together, and the kids will definitely be happy."

Sarah looked up and saw the three little ones watching them on the side.

She took a deep breath and held onto Antonio's arm even tighter.

Their little ones were waiting for them to win the championship. The children were so well-behaved and adorable.

"She must strive for the sake of the children," she thought to herself. With that in mind, she paid no attention to the ambiguous distance between herself and Antonio, focusing wholeheartedly on the outcome of the competition.

"Antonio, walk faster!" she urged urgently, as she saw her group neck and neck with the group beside them, on the verge of determining victory or defeat.

But unfortunately, Sarah walked too quickly. Her foot slipped, making a crunching sound, and she sprained it painfully.

The pain made her unable to stand steadily, but Antonio quickly reacted and stopped, preventing Sarah from falling and getting hurt even more.

"I'm fine, let's continue..." Sarah wanted to push through the pain and keep going, but Antonio, wearing a stern expression, held her back, untied the rope, and picked her up in his arms.

Beep, the whistle blew, indicating that the other group had won.

Antonio carried Sarah back to the side and carefully examined her foot. Only after confirming that there were no major issues, he breathed a sigh of relief.

He noticed that Sarah looked a little downcast, so he gently touched her hair.

"Don't worry, we'll have more chances to win in the future. It's not like this is the only parent meeting I'll attend," he comforted.

His reassuring words created ripples in Sarah's heart. The small sense of loss and self-blame she felt earlier instantly disappeared, replaced by a faint but undeniable hope.

After school ended, the three children were still not satisfied and happily surrounded Sarah.

"You kids go ahead and get in the car. Her foot is injured, so I'll carry her," Antonio instructed considerately, as he helped the three children with their backpacks.

When he approached her again, Sarah quickly steadied herself and said, "No need, I can walk on my own."

Ignoring her protests, Antonio effortlessly lifted her up, causing Sarah's face to blush. She hurriedly pushed him away.

"What are you doing? Be mindful of our surroundings, we're still in kindergarten," Sarah reminded him, but Antonio remained unfazed. He put her in the car, fastened her seatbelt, and his eyes showed a cold and proud dominance.

"I'm carrying my wife, who dares to comment!"
