Chapter 9 She Actually Got Away

Sarah's eyes went wide, and she socked Antonio right in the shoulder.

"You jerk! What the hell are you doing?"

She felt a chill at her neckline, and her anger flared up even more. She grabbed the lamp from the bedside table and smashed it at Antonio, who was pinning her down!

Antonio suddenly felt a sharp pain at the back of his neck and then blacked out.

Seeing Antonio collapse on top of her, Sarah shoved him off, got up quickly, straightened her clothes, and made a break for it.

She had just taken a couple of steps when she turned back, fuming, and kicked the unconscious Antonio twice out of sheer frustration.

"Bastard!" Sarah had one thing on her mind: get out of there, fast!

Antonio had totally lost it!

But as she stumbled towards the elevator, a sudden calm washed over her.

With Antonio's skills, no matter where she hid in this place, he'd find her!

And the reason she checked into this hotel in the first place was to dig up the truth about what happened to Brady that day.

Even if she wanted to bail now, she had to hit the surveillance room first and snag that footage.

With that in mind, Sarah straightened her clothes and hair, heading towards the surveillance room.

As she passed a room, she vaguely heard a woman screaming inside.

"Bastard! Let go of me!"

Sarah's steps slowed down unconsciously. That voice sounded kinda familiar?

But she didn't dwell on it. Right now, Brady was her top priority.

So Sarah had no clue what kind of hell Lisa was going through at the hands of Frederick inside that room.

Soon, Sarah arrived at the door of the surveillance room.

She flashed the staff a friendly smile and said, "Hey, I lost a valuable necklace in the banquet hall a few days ago. Can you help me check the surveillance footage from the past week to see if someone picked it up?"

Faced with Sarah's charming smile, the staff member blushed instantly.

He instinctively wanted to agree, but as his hand touched the mouse, he suddenly snapped back to reality.

Remembering the previous instructions, the staff member said, "Sorry, but we just replaced the surveillance system a week ago, and all the old footage is gone. Bad timing."

Sarah saw right through his reaction.

She knew these excuses were prepped beforehand to stop anyone from getting the footage from that day and to cover up the truth.

So Sarah didn't argue and forced herself to leave the surveillance room calmly.

As soon as she stepped out, Sarah called Brian.

The call was quickly answered, and a young but inexplicably steady voice came through the phone. "Mommy."

"Brian, I'm at the Ritz in LA. Mom needs the banquet hall footage from a week ago. Can you get it?"

After saying this, Sarah's hand holding the phone tightened unconsciously.

She always knew Brian was a computer whiz. Now that the hotel staff were stonewalling her, she could only pin her hopes on Brian.

Brian pursed his lips and gave a quick, "I'll give it a shot."

Sarah heard the rapid-fire typing on the other end, and her heart was doing somersaults.

A few minutes later, Brian came back on, "Mom, I hacked into the hotel's network. The footage from that time wasn't completely erased; someone cut it out."

Hearing this, Sarah knew her suspicions were spot on.

This was definitely a setup by Lisa and Lusa, making sure Brady never got a chance to clear his name.

Sarah steadied herself, her hand clenching at her side. "Got it. By the way, where are Ethan and Harper? What are they up to?"

On the other end, Brian went quiet, which was a red flag for Sarah.

Brian was usually reserved, but he'd never dodge her questions unless he was hiding something.

She knew Brian was smart but a terrible liar. His silence was a dead giveaway.

Sarah frowned, her tone turning stern. "Brian, you need to look after your siblings. But that doesn't mean covering for them. I know you're smart and know what's right. Now, tell Mommy where they are."

Brian sighed, and after a moment, he answered softly, "Actually, they followed you back to the country. But don't worry, Mom, my friend is looking after them."

"What?!" Sarah's eyes widened in disbelief.

She never thought they'd follow her back!

She quickly calmed down, her voice urgent, "You guys are being reckless!"

"Mom, I'm sorry." Brian's apology softened Sarah's heart a bit.

She knew this wasn't Brian's doing; it had to be Ethan and Harper's idea, with Brian covering for them.

Sarah sighed, "Alright, Brian, it's not all your fault. Just send me their current address."

Meanwhile, Antonio woke up in the room, rubbing the back of his neck.

He glanced at the door, his eyes narrowing.

Sarah had bolted!

Antonio's face darkened, his voice icy. "Damn Sarah. Next time, you won't get away!"

He remembered the last thing before blacking out—Sarah had picked up something and smashed it at him.

Sarah had guts. Wasn't she afraid of causing an accident?

Before Antonio could send someone to find Sarah, his phone rang. It was James.

"Mr. Valencia, we've got the address of the kid who crashed your wedding."

Antonio's lips tightened, his eyes dark and unreadable.

Sarah couldn't run forever, so he wasn't in a rush to catch her now.

But Harper, who ruined his wedding, had to have someone pulling the strings.

"Get the car ready. I'm going there myself!"
