Chapter 49 Sarah, It Really Is you

That night, Ethan rolled up to Michael's place.

As soon as the door swung open, Harper's jaw practically hit the floor. "Ethan, what the heck? Why are you back? If Dad finds out I'm not there, he's gonna flip! What do I do?"

Ethan, cool as a cucumber, just yanked Harper inside. "Mom's grabbing the footage tonight. Harper, no need to go back to him. Time's precious. Once Mom saves Brady with the footage, we're gone!"

Michael, hanging around nearby, lit up like a Christmas tree. "That's awesome! Congrats! Hey, can I tag along when you go abroad to meet my teacher, Brian?"

Ethan gave a nod, and Michael was over the moon, but Harper, chilling on the couch, looked bummed out.

Harper sighed, "But I promised Dad I'd help him pass the third level. Kids shouldn't break promises."

Sure, passing the level was a big deal, but more importantly, her plan wasn't done yet. She couldn't just bail!

Ethan saw right through her, gave her a knowing look but didn't call her out. He patted her shoulder. "Brian's got it covered."

Translation: Quit thinking about helping Antonio and just go home with Sarah.

Harper noticed Ethan's mood and didn't dare bring up Antonio again. She nodded, "Okay, got it."

Then she hung her head and shuffled back to her room.

Lying on her bed, Harper blinked her big eyes, wide awake.

She got why Brian and Ethan weren't fans of Antonio. They used to hate him for ditching Sarah, but now she knew the real deal. Antonio actually liked Sarah!

Ethan probably hadn't figured that out yet.

Their family could be happy together, but someone had to spill the beans about Antonio's true feelings.

Plus, she thought Antonio was a good guy. She liked him and craved that fatherly love.

After a long think, Harper made up her mind to go back and help Antonio.

She got up, snuck out of the apartment, and left a note: [Ethan, I still want Daddy and Mommy to be together.]

In the dead of night, Sarah suited up in black clothes, a black hat, and a mask, looking like she was ready for a heist, and headed to the Valencia Group.

Dressed like that, anyone would think she was a spy!

The whole building was locked up tight, but that didn't faze her.

She pulled a gadget from her backpack, slapped it on the door lock, and three seconds later, "ding," the door popped open.

Sarah grinned and slipped inside.

The place was crawling with surveillance cameras, but she strolled in like she owned the joint because Brian had already swapped out the footage to keep her off the radar.

She hit the elevator, put on some special gloves with Antonio's fingerprints, and rode the CEO's private elevator to the top floor. Then, she waltzed into the CEO's office, opened the door, and stepped in!

Everything was going smooth, just one last step!

Without a second thought, Sarah used her contact lenses to scan the room and found the safe hidden behind the wall.

She cracked it open, and sure enough, there was a memory card with a video tape. But for some reason, a wave of unease washed over her.

Everything had gone way too smoothly tonight, and that made her nervous.

She'd had a rough life, and now that things were finally going her way, it felt off.

Shaking off the bad vibes, Sarah quickly popped the memory card into her tablet and found the surveillance footage from that night at The Grand Horizon Hotel.

Her eyes lit up. This was the tape she needed!

She stuffed the items into her bag and muttered, "Finally, I can clear Brady's name. Once I get him out, those jerks are gonna pay!"

She wasn't some helpless victim anymore. Anyone who messed with her family was gonna regret it!

Sarah took one last look around to make sure she hadn't missed anything, got up, and was about to leave. Just then, the lights flicked on!

Blinded by the sudden brightness, she raised her hand to shield her eyes and saw someone at the door!

She took a few steps back, squinting to see who it was, and her eyes widened in shock.

Antonio? What the hell was he doing here?

Did he know she was coming?

Outside the office, Antonio's face was tense, his eyes filled with a mix of emotions.

He locked eyes with Sarah. "Sarah, it's really you!"

Caught red-handed with the safe still open behind her, Sarah couldn't deny it anymore.

Under her mask, she bit her lip, her eyes darting around, looking for an escape route.

Seeing her stay silent, Antonio's anger flared.

He walked in, slammed the door shut, making Sarah's heart skip a beat.

Antonio strode over, his presence so intense it felt like he could burn you to ashes.

Sarah's heart raced, her breathing quickened. Damn, she knew it was too good to be true!

Besides giving her three amazing kids, when had luck ever been on her side?

Now that Antonio had found her, she had to bolt!

Spotting a gap beside Antonio, Sarah gritted her teeth and made a break for it, but Antonio's long arm grabbed her, yanking her back.

"Trying to run?" Antonio's fingers tore off her mask, not holding back, hurting her ear in the process.

Sarah's delicate face was exposed. She winced but didn't cry out. She wouldn't show weakness in front of him!

With her cover blown, there was no point in pretending. She glared at him and spat, "Bastard. Let go. Don't touch me!"

Sarah struggled to break free from Antonio's grip, but his eyes grew darker with each attempt.

"Sarah, you faked your death and disappeared years back, now sneaking around right in front of me? It's been five years, and you've gotten gutsy!"
