Chapter 143 Do You Hate Me That Much?
Realizing how serious things were, Alex didn't waste a second. He ditched the woman and hit up Sarah, spilling everything he found out, no filter.
Sarah's face twisted with anger as she thanked him. "Got it, thanks."
If Alex hadn't dug around, she would've never known it was Philip.
Philip didn't get to the kids yesterday, so today he went all out!
Dude was savage.
Sarah was fuming, her breath coming in hot and heavy, almost crushing her phone in her grip.
Ethan and Harper exchanged worried looks. Ethan finally asked, "Mom, what's up?"
Why did Sarah flip out after that call?
Not wanting to freak the kids out, Sarah forced a smile but dodged the question, "Stay put, don't wander. Mommy's gotta step out for a bit."
With that, Sarah got up and stormed to the next room.
Antonio was by the window, staring out with a heavy look. His eyes were dark and unreadable, giving nothing away.
A loud knock on the door snapped him back to reality.
The noise ticked him off, and he stomped over to open the door, looking pissed.
Seeing Sarah, Antonio was caught off guard, then noticed her pissed-off look and asked, "What's going on?"
Sarah snorted and snapped, "What's going on? How dare you ask me that?"
Antonio was confused and getting more frustrated.
Everything was chill a minute ago, why was she grilling him now?
Antonio felt annoyed but didn't want to fight, so he turned his back on Sarah and walked back into the room, saying, "I have no clue what you're talking about!"
Sarah wasn't letting it slide, following him in and raising her voice. "Don't even try to deny it. I know the truth. Philip's behind today's mess!"
Antonio's back went rigid for a second.
He turned to face Sarah.
What? Philip did this? But how did she find out?
Seeing his reaction, Sarah let out a mocking laugh. "What? Gonna pretend you didn't know Philip was gunning for my kids?"
Today, she finally saw that all of Antonio's dirty tricks were straight out of Philip's playbook!
Maybe today's chaos was their plan all along!
Both of them were ruthless.
Antonio's face tightened. "I really didn't know."
This only made Sarah's questions sharper, "You didn't know? Then why were you at the kids' play area at just the right time?"
At the time, she was too worried about the kids to think much of it.
But now that she thought about it, there were definitely a lot of sketchy details.
Seeing Sarah's suspicion, Antonio's face darkened, and the tension in the room skyrocketed.
He had saved Ethan out of the goodness of his heart, and now she was grilling him like this?
Antonio was about to snap back when something clicked in his mind. His face turned grim as he coldly asked, "And how are you so sure it was Philip?"
Philip trying to off those kids? That’s insane. Where did she even get that idea?
Antonio's eyes bore into Sarah's, trying to read her.
Sarah's sneer got even nastier. "What? Didn't think I'd figure it out?"
She gritted her teeth, her eyes flashing with cold fury and utter disdain. "Antonio, if you don't want people to know, don't do it! You do bad stuff, there’s always a trail! You two have done so much dirt, aren't you scared of getting busted one day?"
Her words cut deep, stabbing into Antonio's heart. 'How dare she curse me?'
The whole thing wasn’t even clear yet, he didn’t even know what had gone down, and Sarah was already pinning it on him?
Did she hate him that much?
Antonio kept staring at Sarah, but it felt like he was looking at a stranger.
After a long pause, he sighed and said, "Sarah, chill. Philip wouldn’t do something like that."
Sure, Philip's methods were hardcore, but he wasn’t a killer.
Would he really sink that low?
But Sarah just laughed, even more convinced Antonio was covering his tracks.
Sarah sneered. "Oh, I get it. You think you can wipe the evidence clean and I won’t catch you, so you can deny it all you want."
She spoke like it was already a done deal.
Antonio felt a wave of insult wash over him.
His dignity and sincerity were being stomped on by Sarah.
The pain in Antonio's eyes grew, then turned into a fierce undercurrent.
Antonio clenched his fists, took a deep breath, and said through gritted teeth, "I'll say it again, this isn’t true!"
Sarah suddenly let out a string of cold laughs. "Didn't you say you didn’t know? How come you're so sure it's not true now?"
Before Antonio could respond, Sarah's eyes turned icy and harsh. "Antonio, even if you really didn’t know, you're still in on it! Do you know why Philip did this? He wants to make me leave you! I think you should take Philip to the hospital for a check-up. He might have dementia. It was you who said you wouldn’t divorce me! What right does he have to target my kids?"
