Chapter 648 Could He Be Antonio?
In the current situation, the only option was to lower their guard, without revealing any flaws. Otherwise, with Harold's temperament, it was hard to say what other moves he might make.
After a while, Isabella composed herself and returned. As she pushed the door open, she saw Benjamin lying on the bed with a pale complexion. A surge of warmth filled her heart once more.
If it weren't for Benjamin, it would be her lying here suffering.
She stepped forward and asked with concern, "Is your shoulder still hurting?"
Benjamin's gaze seemed to pierce straight into the depths of her eyes. He knew that Isabella's concern was genuine, but it was something he never desired.
And whatever other thoughts Isabella had, they were likely well hidden in the period of her absence.
He gave a stiff smile and replied, "I'm just glad you're okay."
Isabella naturally assumed that he had shielded her out of genuine concern for her.
This moved her so deeply that tears uncontrollably streamed down her face. She blamed herself. "I wasn't careful. If it weren't for saving me, you wouldn't be so badly hurt."
Isabella felt a bit remorseful. It seemed she had misunderstood Benjamin before.
He was grim, and if it weren't for someone he deemed very important, he would never have risked himself.
She had even harbored some small schemes in front of Harold before, which now seemed...
Benjamin watched the changes in her expression indifferently.
"I'm fine, don't worry."
Isabella knew he was just trying to comfort her. She choked back a smile. "Then you should get some rest. Tomorrow morning, I'll go home, make your favorite soup and bring it to you."
She was about to get up and leave when Benjamin, lying on the bed, suddenly called out to her.
"Isabella."
His voice was much softer than usual. Isabella instinctively looked up at him, thinking she was dreaming, "What is it?"
Benjamin's eyes were deep and mysterious. Perhaps because he was very weak, they appeared tender and affectionate, making it hard for anyone not to fall for him.
His voice was clear and gentle. "Let's get engaged earlier."
Isabella blinked, unable to believe it, feeling as if she were dreaming.
'Did Benjamin just say to move up the engagement?'
He had always wanted to put off the engagement. He had said that acquiring the Valencia family and the Jerrett Group was the priority. Now, he suddenly wanted to move up the engagement.
She couldn't believe it. "What did you just say?"
"I said let's get engaged sooner." Benjamin repeated his words patiently, explaining. "After this incident, I think some things should be settled sooner rather than later. We should value those who are with us now. What do you think?"
These words sounded like a revelation born from his injury.
Isabella finally confirmed she wasn't dreaming. After a moment of overwhelming joy, she nodded vigorously. "Yes, I agree! Let's get engaged earlier."
She was almost moved to tears with joy. Finally, she had waited for this day to come.
More importantly, it was Benjamin who had proposed it first.
Benjamin took in all her excitement and smiled. "Since we've decided, let's get this done as soon as possible. You can start making calls now. But in my current state... the tasks of inviting guests and arranging the venue will fall on you."
"No problem." Isabella shook her head, tears of joy streaming down. "No trouble at all."
The Benjamin she loved was finally ready to marry her. Of course, she wouldn't find it troublesome.
Once the engagement party was over, they would be a couple, and the wedding would follow soon after.
Thinking of this, Isabella couldn't wait any longer.
She grabbed her phone and was about to step out to make calls but suddenly paused, her voice filled with joy. "So, should we still proceed against the Valencia family?"
Benjamin looked at her calmly. "Right now, I just want to get engaged to you. As for everything else, we'll deal with it later."
Isabella was delighted by his words and smiled shyly.
"Then I'll go make the calls now. You should rest well."
Benjamin replied, "Alright, don't stay up too late."
Isabella nodded even more joyfully.
Benjamin had never shown such concern for her before. It seemed today's accident wasn't entirely a bad thing.
Without giving it much thought, she hurried out of the room to make her calls.
It wasn't the best time to contact the guests, so she decided to start with the dress arrangements.
As the door closed, the room returned to its quiet state, allowing Benjamin to ponder over some matters.
Harold was clearly deceiving him about many things, and he was terrified of him recalling past events.
Previously, Benjamin had believed wholeheartedly that he had lost his memory due to a car accident.
But what if the car accident was a lie?
What if he didn't have any car accident at all?
An explosion could also leave such unsightly scars on his body.
If all these assumptions were true, what had his father Harold done with such an elaborate scheme? Isabella must have been involved as well.
And there was one question that puzzled him the most.
Why did Harold do this?
Benjamin couldn't help but consider the most bizarre possibility...
Could he and Antonio indeed be the same person?
