Chapter 879 I Want My Own Mommy!
Antonio raised his hand and gently tapped her nose, "Don't overthink it, you're the best mom."
From the back seat, Harper chimed in, "Yeah, Mommy, you are the best mommy in the whole world!"
Ethan shouted, "I love Mommy the most!"
Brian nodded seriously.
Sarah sighed. She didn't say anything, but her face clearly showed she wasn't feeling well.
Seeing Sarah so down, Harper couldn't help but complain, "I don't know what's up with Ryan. Ever since Elara came, he doesn't seem to like us anymore. All he sees is Elara!"
"I think so too!" Ethan agreed, "He doesn't play with us anymore. As soon as he gets home, he looks for Elara."
Talking about this made Harper pout unhappily, muttering, "He even said Elara reminds him of his mom and wants her to be his mom. That's why he asked us to help match Elara with Francis."
Hearing these words, Sarah couldn't help but feel sad.
She had always treated Ryan as her own child. How could she accept Ryan's sudden distance?
Seeing her lower her head and stay silent, Antonio reached out and pulled Sarah into his arms, "Don't overthink it, get some rest."
It seemed he needed to comfort Sarah properly when they got back.
When they got home, he took Sarah to their room, had her sit on the couch, and patted his thigh, "Put your legs up."
Sarah glanced at him absentmindedly, "Why?"
"We walked a lot today. Let me give you a massage."
"Ryan may be mature for his age, but he's still a child. It's easy for him to believe what others say. Maybe Elara is just good at talking and won his heart. You're his mommy, and no one can replace that."
Sarah let him massage her legs, pursing her lips without saying anything.
Antonio applied a bit more pressure, "If you have something to say, tell me. Don't keep it bottled up, okay?"
She glared at him, "Are you trying to hurt me?"
Antonio raised an eyebrow, "I don't just want to hurt you; I want to make you cry."
Sarah sighed, "It's nothing really. I'm just reflecting on whether I've been neglecting the kids too much lately."
She had been busy with Cynthia's matters and often felt emotionally unstable due to her pregnancy, which indeed led to neglecting the kids.
Ryan's closeness to Elara was because he felt unloved.
That was why Ryan didn't want her as his mommy anymore.
Antonio shook his head, "You've done more than enough."
Sarah glared at him again, "Only you think so, right?"
"I'm serious. The kids are independent individuals. They can't always stick with adults. They need to go to school and socialize. Parental love and companionship are just part of their lives. You've given enough."
That seemed to make sense.
Although Sarah knew he was trying to comfort her, his words made sense, and she felt a bit better. "Anyway, I'll spend more time with the kids recently. Otherwise, what if they really don't want me as their mommy anymore?"
Childhood was so short. Once it was gone, it was gone forever. She needed to play her role as a mom well and give them enough love and companionship.
The next day, Sarah got up early and personally made a lavish breakfast.
Jasmine helped set the table just as the kids were coming downstairs.
Sarah turned to look at them, smiling brightly, "You're up? Breakfast is ready."
"Mrs. Valencia made breakfast herself this morning, so you should eat a lot."
Jasmine said kindly and added, "I'll go get Mr. Valencia."
The kids were so excited to hear that Sarah had made breakfast herself that they almost jumped for joy, eagerly sitting down, "Wow! Mommy, you are amazing at making so much delicious food!"
Brian also smiled and said, "Thank you, Mommy."
"Yes, eat up." Sarah said casually, looking expectantly at Ryan, who was slowly coming down, "Ryan, I made your favorite bacon..."
"I don't want to eat." Ryan's young voice was emotionless, like a bucket of cold water.
Sarah's smile froze, and she said, "Then what do you want to eat? There's also..."
"I don't want any of this." Ryan looked at her steadily, not even approaching the table, "I... I only want to eat the breakfast Elara makes."
Antonio and Francis came out just in time to hear this, both frowning in disbelief that such words came from the usually sensible Ryan.
Antonio bent down and pulled him into his arms, "Ryan, you can't talk to Mommy like that."
Ryan pressed his lips together, not saying a word.
"Mommy made breakfast, especially for you. Don't let her down, okay?"
Brian also turned and said, "Ryan, if you don't have an appetite, how about some porridge?"
"Yeah, Ryan, eat a little, okay?" Harper said softly, holding a slice of pizza, "Mommy worked so hard. If you don't eat, she'll be very sad."
Hearing their voices, Ryan felt utterly isolated.
He just missed Elara. What was wrong with that?
"Why are you all blaming me?" Ryan looked up, tears welling in his eyes, "I just want Elara to come back. Is that wrong?"
Everyone was stunned, not expecting him to say that.
Sarah quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe his tears.
Ryan dodged to the side, shouting, "You don't care about Elara at all. You don't understand me. We're not even a family, are we? So just isolate me however you want!"
With that, he ran out, not looking back.
"Ryan!" Sarah felt terrible and started to chase after him. She didn't understand how her good intentions could be so misunderstood by Ryan.
Francis felt equally bad and stopped her, "Sarah, let me go."
After all, if Ryan had any psychological issues or was going through a rebellious phase, the primary responsibility lay with him as his biological father.
Antonio and Sarah had already done more than enough.
When Francis wheeled himself out, he immediately saw Ryan's small figure crouched in the corner of the yard.
"Ryan."
As soon as he spoke, Ryan shrank away, clearly not wanting to talk.
"Can we talk?" Francis stopped beside him and reached out to pull him up. "You can tell me whatever you're thinking."
His voice was gentle, but to Ryan, it still carried a hint of questioning. He stubbornly turned his face away, "I'm not wrong! I just want to eat the breakfast Elara makes!"
'They don't understand me at all. Only Elara is truly good to me!' Ryan thought.
Francis frowned but patiently said, "Elara is still in the hospital and can't make you breakfast. You need to understand something."
"Elara is just a housekeeper. You can't hurt your mom because of her. Don't forget who raised you with so much love. Your mom loves you very much, understand?"
Ryan bit his lip, not saying a word.
He seemed to understand the meaning of these words but couldn't control his anger and longing for Elara.
Francis sighed, "Maybe I haven't cared for you enough. If you have any requests or thoughts, you can tell me."
"Then if I say I want my own mommy, can you give her to me?" Ryan looked up, his eyes unfocused, "Yes, I want my own mommy!"
