Chapter 343 Money is Everything

"Sarah, I acknowledge my wrongs, I truly do. I am not a good man, and you have every right to punish me as you see fit. Strike me, berate me, anything, but I implore you, do not leave me. Can you grant me that?" Antonio pleaded, his words choked by sobs, each tear falling like a weight upon Sarah's heart.

Sarah found it unbearable to witness Antonio in such a state of desperation. She had never envisioned Antonio, a man so composed, shedding tears of such profound sorrow. She was taken aback by the depths of his despair, a despair born of his own sorrow.

Trembling, Sarah reached out to wipe away his tears.

"Antonio, I had no intention of moving into Alex's house. I simply sought some solitude at Yu Yu's place for a few days to allow us both some breathing room. Arguing like this serves no purpose; it won't yield any positive outcomes. Please, let me go, will you?"

But Antonio clung to Sarah's hand, repeating his desperate plea, "Sarah, I can't bear a moment apart from you..."

His heart was in tatters. He had always considered himself indifferent, someone who could accept anything. But now, he realized he was helpless without Sarah by his side.

In this moment of revelation, he understood that all past grievances were inconsequential. The only thing of importance was Sarah's willingness to remain by his side. They had already squandered so much time, why should they part ways over a mere misunderstanding?

The incident was long past, and Sarah had already declared the photo a forgery. Why was he still reluctant to believe her?

The fault was his, his alone.

All Antonio wanted was for Sarah to reconsider and stay with him.

"Antonio, don't do this. So much has transpired, and at this moment, I am unsure of what course to take."

Sarah drew a deep breath. "We both need to reflect on how we ended up in this situation. If you force me to stay, it won't bring me happiness. If you truly love me, you would want me to be happy, wouldn't you? Conversely, I don't want to be with you when you're consumed by doubt and anxiety... It's unfair to both of us."

Sarah felt a heavy burden weighing on her heart. She found it equally hard to leave Antonio. She was well aware of her deep affection for him. Otherwise, why would she choose to return to him after enduring so much?

However, trust is the bedrock of any relationship. Without trust, their future together was uncertain.

Sarah yearned for some tranquility to unravel the truth of what had transpired back then.

Antonio shook his head. "Sarah, must I kneel and beg for your forgiveness? If that's what it takes..."

With those words, Antonio began to sink to his knees.

Sarah was taken aback. "Antonio, what are you doing? Stand up! There's no need for this!"

Heartbroken and helpless, Sarah silently shed tears.

She clung to Antonio's hand, hoping he would regain his composure.

Unbeknownst to them, their emotional exchange was being closely monitored by Brian.

He calmly captured a screenshot, saving this moment for future use...

Overwhelmed by Antonio's agitation, Sarah reluctantly agreed to stay for the time being.

"Alright... I promise I won't leave for now, but you must vow to respect my wishes."

Sarah feigned indifference.

Upon hearing her words, hope sparked in Antonio's eyes, "Okay, I swear I won't disturb you. You can do whatever you wish as long as you don't leave."

"Then release me, I need to speak with Yoyo." Sarah was exhausted, but she had no other choice.

Antonio nodded repeatedly, watching as Sarah retreated to the study.

"Yoyo, I apologize, but for now, I have decided to stay here. We'll stay in touch and if I need your help, I'll reach out."

Sofia Harris understood. Unaware of the photo, she assumed their argument was solely about Asa.

"Talk to him properly, we've done nothing wrong, we have no reason to feel guilty."

Sofia comforted Sarah with a warm embrace.

With Sarah's decision made, Alex naturally wouldn't stay either, so they exchanged numbers and took their leave.

Upon returning from the study, Sarah retreated to her room.

Seeing this, the four children remained in their rooms, their doors firmly shut.

After the upheaval, Antonio had no choice but to retire to his own room.

The robot stood silently in the corner, recharging. The living room, once filled with laughter and joy, now echoed with a lonely silence.

Meanwhile, Serene received news that Asa had been arrested for attempted rape.

"What a waste!" Serene exclaimed, angrily discarding the object in her hand. But she had to make her way to the police station.

Asa, still bearing the wounds from Antonio's assault, looked disheveled.

"You're useless, always causing problems. No wonder you've achieved nothing until now."

Serene looked at Asa with disdain.

Asa scoffed, "And what about Mrs. Jerrett? Have you managed to win Antonio over? Or have you secured Valencia Inc.?"

"I heard Antonio kicked you out long ago, and even the shares of Jerretts Group you wanted to offload found no takers."

"And now you're just a convict, what right do you have to speak to me in such a manner?"

Serene scowled, her words laced with venom.

Unfazed, Asa continued his taunts, "That's right, I am a convict."

"So when my trial comes, I can confess all my wrongdoings. If I recall correctly, we've done quite a few things together with Mrs. Jerrett, haven't we?"

Asa laughed, "Since I have nothing left to lose, why not let Antonio know the whole truth? Perhaps it might earn me some leniency."

Serene's composure faltered, "Asa, aren't you afraid of dying here?"

“Why should I be?"

“If I were to die here, my own father would come to bury me, unlike you, Mrs. Jerrett," Asa retorted, a sinister smirk on his face.

"Or perhaps I shouldn't even call you Mrs. Jerrett? Who knows what your real surname is?"

"Money can make someone a father, right?"

Serene's gaze hardened. How did Asa find out about this secret?!
