Chapter 453 Unexpected Heritage

The man who stood in the doorway spoke with an air of authority, clad in a suit Serene had only ever seen on television. She held her tongue, cautious not to utter anything she might later regret. Yet, deep down, she sensed her life was on the brink of a profound shift.

With little resistance, Serene allowed three people to guide her into the limousine. Soon, she left the slums, heading toward a wealthy neighborhood she had never dared to enter.

"Miss, quickly go inside!"

She was inexplicably brought inside a large mansion, which was so luxurious that there was even a fountain pool inside, which were scenes only found on TV.

And a middle-aged man pounced on her, tears of joy in his eyes. "Serene, Daddy finally found you! All these years, you've been suffering. If it weren't for this bracelet, I wouldn't have known if I could ever find you."

Suddenly, Serene understood. The little girl who had saved Antonio was the daughter of the rich man in front of her. However, such luck coming her way was something Serene could never have dreamed of.

Perhaps this was the arrangement of fate.

The emotional Kevin pressed, "Tell me, child, where is your mother? Where is she?"

Serene lowered her head and carefully weighed her words, thinking about what would be in her best interest.

Finally, she said sorrowfully, "My mom died. I haven't seen her since I was a child. Later, I was taken to an orphanage. I was too young at the time and only remembered this bracelet. My mom told me that it could lead me to my dad ...... Are you really my dad?"

"It's all my fault!" The man embraced his daughter full of guilt." From now on, you are my only child, the sole heir to the Jarrett family. No one will ever mistreat you again."

"From now on, your name will be Serene Jerrett."

...

"Is there anything else I can help you with, miss?"

The clerk's voice pulled Serene back to reality.

She lowered her head, stepping out of her reverie. Everything she possessed stood as a testament to her perseverance, and she vowed never to allow anyone to take away what she had, especially not the bracelet, which could never be returned to Sarah.

Serene gritted her teeth." Actually, Mr. Miller wanted to give this to me as a gift. Can you give me the tracking number? I'll pick it up myself."

"I'm very sorry. The tracking number contains personal information about Mr. Miller that we really can't disclose. However, all the details, including the tracking number and details about the bracelet, have been forwarded to Mr. Miller. You may be able to contact him directly if you need to."

"Okay, thank you. Oh, this was supposed to be a surprise from Mr. Miller. I just stumbled upon it. Please don't tell him I was the one who found you."

"No problem, all the best to you both!" The clerk mistook this for a young couple's surprise gift and didn't think much of it.

Meanwhile, Serene once again gave her private detective his assignment." Keep a close eye on Brady, especially any international packages he's expecting. As soon as it arrives in the U.S., I need to know."

...

Sarah was busy planning the perfect birthday surprise for Antonio. She had already selected a gift, but she knew it needed to be significant. Antonio had been orphaned as a child, so his birthdays were consistently uneventful and poorly planned.

Now, like Sarah, Antonio knew nothing about his birth parents. For this birthday, Sarah was determined to give Antonio a unique celebration that would soothe his painful memories little by little.

Harper came up with an idea. "How about a jungle adventure? We could hide the surprise deep in the forest and leave clues for Daddy to find on his own.

"No, there are too many bugs in the jungle this time of year. What if Mommy gets bitten again? Besides, it's not easy to set things up out there. It would be boring if there was only one gift," Ethan countered.

Ryan thought for a moment and said, "Actually, Daddy does like adventure. Otherwise, he wouldn't have arranged the hot air balloon trip for Sarah. Maybe we can brainstorm around that."

Suddenly, Brian's eyes lit up." Mommy, wouldn't the best surprise for Daddy be with you? Think about it, do you have any special places that have sentimental value? We could use that for inspiration."

Sarah pondered, a spark of inspiration suddenly flashing. "I've got an idea!"

Harper approached her curiously. "What is it, Mommy? Tell me!"

Sarah blushed and said, "Well, when your dad confessed his love for me, it was at the racetrack. We were still in college at the time and I thought it was just a regular party. Little did I know that it would become the place where your dad confessed his love."

"Ah, look at Mommy blushing! Guys, check it out!" Harper teased cheerfully as Sarah tried to hide her shyness.

Sarah laughed and pulled her daughter into her arms, playfully tickling her. "You're getting good at teasing Mommy, aren't you?"

"I'm sorry, Mommy! I didn't mean to!" Harper squirmed around as she was tickled, begging for mercy.

Sarah laughed and let her go, her heart already warming to the plan for what was to come.

With a wave of his hand, Brian announced, "Got it, we're going to do a reenactment. Okay, we'll have the birthday party at the racetrack. I'll get right on it."

Locking down the venue was key, and with that, Brian could settle anything.

Sarah said excitedly, "Honey, I'll walk you through every detail of the original event. Do you think you can recreate it all?"

Brian puffed out his little chest proudly. "Don't worry, Mommy. Leave it to me. Sit back and relax."

Brian didn't waste any time. He fired up the projector and created a simple PowerPoint presentation that sparked a lively discussion among the family.

"This is just a draft plan, we still need to discuss some details before we finalize everything," he emphasized, pen in hand.

The other three children were equally cooperative, each taking notes in their own little book.

Seeing this scene, Sarah felt a sense of relief, knowing that the children had fully accepted Antonio. Otherwise, they wouldn't have put so much effort into preparing for his birthday.

Just as they were feverishly planning, a noise came from outside the door, startling them. Antonio had returned early.

"What's going on?" Antonio asked as he walked in." Boys, come over here and give Daddy a hug. I brought you guys some food... Hey, what are you guys doing?"

Brian's face tensed, and he hurriedly turned off the projector. Ryan scurried back to the kids' room and put away the notes and plans for the birthday party.

At Sarah's prompting, Harper and Ethan rushed to the door to intercept Antonio.

"Daddy, what did you get us? Let me see!"

"I want to see it too."

After a pause, Antonio suggested, "How about you guys let Daddy move the stuff in first?"

But Harper clung to his leg and playfully wouldn't let him pass. "No, I want to see it now!"

Antonio laughed and took the children in his arms, ordering the servants to bring in the refreshments.

Seeing that Brian and Ryan hadn't rearranged the living room yet, Sarah hurriedly brought in a glass of water.

"Put the kids down and drink some water first. Didn't you say you had a sore throat this morning? How is it now?"

Antonio was caught off guard as he tried to remember when he had mentioned a sore throat.
