Chapter 828 The Most Pitiful Man in the World

Antonio was so anxious he wanted to storm off, but he could only watch as Sarah walked further and further away.

After passing through security, Sarah went to the lounge to wait. Thinking about Antonio's expression just now, she chuckled to herself in a good mood.

After this incident, he wouldn't dare to lie to her again.

Sarah glanced at the time and took out her phone to make a video call to Brian.

Brian answered quickly, "Mommy."

"Yes, are you at the office now?"

Seeing the setup behind him, Sarah guessed he was in the office. "I will be back soon. In two or three hours, you'll see me!"

"Great!" The usually composed Brian couldn't help but smile. "I'll send a car to pick you up, Mommy!"

"Okay." Sarah didn't refuse. "But since you're busy with work, you don't need to come personally. I'll go straight home, and we'll meet at home tonight."

Brian thought for a moment. "Alright then, Mommy, be careful on your way."

Just then, a flight attendant came to remind her to board. Sarah said a few words and then ended the video call.

In the office, Brian happily put away his phone and looked up. "Uncle, let's continue."

Francis had heard their entire conversation and was a bit lost in thought. It took him a moment to react, his eyes flickering. "Okay, let's continue."

'They are coming back so soon?' Francis thought.

During the discussion, Brian noticed that Francis kept getting distracted.

Brian asked with concern, "Uncle, are you feeling unwell?"

"Huh? No!" Francis instinctively answered loudly, then quickly realized his reaction was a bit too much. He hurriedly smiled to cover it up. "Maybe I didn't sleep well last night. I'm a bit tired, but it's nothing."

Brian, being considerate, said, "Your health is the most important. Let's take a break."

"Okay." Francis looked at Brian.

Brian's small face was full of sincerity, treating him like family and caring about his well-being. This concern only tightened the knot of conflict in Francis's heart.

He had originally thought that Antonio and Sarah's trip to Luminara would take at least a few days.

But they were coming back so soon.

Sarah was already waiting to board. In a few hours, the plane would land, and Antonio would likely bring Sarah home before coming to the office.

Some things had to be resolved before Antonio returned!

Francis took a deep breath and made a decision.

Brian was tidying up the project documents on the table and didn't notice the change in Francis's expression. "Uncle, it's lunchtime. Should we eat in the cafeteria or go out?"

Francis lowered his eyes. "Sorry, I ate a lot this morning, so I'm not hungry now."

With a gentle smile, Francis said, "You go ahead and eat. You're still growing and shouldn't skip meals."

Brian was indeed hungry and didn't refuse. "If you want anything later, let me know, and I'll bring it back for you."

"Okay." Francis paused. "By the way, Brian..."

Brian, who had just taken a few steps, turned around. "Uncle, what's up?"

"I want to learn more about the company's past projects and documents when I have time. After all, I haven't been involved for many years and might be a bit rusty." He said this with a somewhat dejected expression. "Since I've agreed to help at the company, I should set a good example. Can you give me the password to the safe where the documents are kept? Oh, and..."

"Aren't there many historical projects on Antonio's computer? Give me his computer password too, so I don't have to ask you next time."

He looked like someone determined to make a big impact.

Antonio had previously told Brian that Francis used to run the company, so Brian found his request reasonable and was happy about it.

If Francis got back on his feet, he wouldn't dwell on past events.

Antonio and Sarah would be very happy.

Brian gave Francis the information he needed. "Uncle, I'm going to eat now. If you need anything, call me. Don't overwork yourself."

"Okay. Thank you, Brian."

Brian nodded and left the office. Behind him, the always gentle and smiling Francis's expression instantly collapsed.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then wheeled himself to Antonio's office.

The place was simply and elegantly furnished, clearly Antonio's style.

Francis closed the door but didn't move for a long time. His clenched fists revealed his inner hesitation.

He had made up his mind, but now that he was in Antonio's office, facing the computer with all the company's secrets, he couldn't bring himself to act.

The office was filled with traces of Antonio, and Francis's thoughts drifted to the first time he met Antonio.

Back then, Francis was only a few years old. Philip brought home a little boy, put him in Francis's arms, and said that Antonio would be his brother and that they would share the responsibility of the Valencia Group.

Antonio had been crying, but as soon as Francis held him, he inexplicably stopped and hiccuped.

Francis was amused, and the baby Antonio smiled back.

The two children looked at each other, and Francis felt something enter his heart. He silently vowed to take care of Antonio for life.

But what had happened since then? What was he doing now?

Francis wiped his face and opened his eyes, now filled with determination. He kept telling himself that he had to do this!

After surviving for so many years, he had to fight for himself!

Otherwise, even if he returned to Capital City, it would be like living in hell!

Francis took a deep breath, a hint of sarcasm on his lips, and turned on the computer. He entered the password and found what he was looking for.

His fingers moved quickly, skimming through each document and extracting the useful information.

His calm and composed demeanor was completely different from the "out of touch" person he claimed to be.

Meanwhile, Sarah's flight took off.

Antonio watched the plane gliding through the sky from the airport terminal and secretly bought a ticket for the next flight back to Capital City.

Although he knew Sarah didn't want to see him right now.

But with Sarah gone, how could he stay here? So he planned to sneak back.

Antonio waited at the airport, had the hotel staff bring his luggage, and two hours later, boarded a flight to Capital City.

He thought that Sarah should have arrived.

He missed her, but he couldn't call her.
