Chapter 204 Is There Still a Chance Between Her and Antonio?

Harper stepped forward and gently touched Antonio's head as if comforting him.

"Daddy, if there are conflicts between you and Mommy, they should be resolved! Forcing Mommy will only make the conflicts worse," Harper said.

Harper noticed Antonio tearing up the divorce agreement and driving away Lucien too; she believed that Antonio must still love Sarah very much.

Antonio smiled gently and caressed Harper's long hair.

"Well, let me think about what you want to eat and tell the service staff. I will take care of these things," he said.

Antonio wanted to reach out and touch Ethan's head as he spoke, but he saw Ethan's alert gaze and could only awkwardly retract his hand while giving him a slight smile.

Afterward, Antonio returned to the study, feeling somewhat weary.

Sitting on the chair, he opened a dusty file bag and emptied its contents onto the table with a clatter.

Snapshots of Sarah and Asa from back then scattered all over the desk.

He immediately closed his eyes from the piercing pain, but Harper's words echoed in his mind...

If he hadn't seen these photos back then, he and Sarah wouldn't have reached this point now. Could it be that he was wrong after all?

Regardless, it had been five years since these incidents. Even if Sarah had betrayed him and misunderstood him back then, so much time had passed.

At least now, she had returned to his side.

Perhaps... Sarah had only made a small mistake back then.

And now, he loved her and wanted to spend his life with her. Shouldn't he let go of the past and not hold onto it?

But at least one thing Harper said was correct—locking Sarah up in anger had indeed been wrong.

He didn't want to repeat the same mistake, nor did he want to endure that kind of loss again.

He could forgive her and not expose her, but he truly couldn't accept her continuing to associate with that man...

Antonio's deep eyes pierced through the darkness, revealing specks of starry light. He set each of those photos on fire one by one, placing them in the ashtray until they all turned into ashes.

After returning to her room, Sarah curled up in bed, and that strange feeling gradually faded away.

She calmly pondered Antonio's words.

Indeed, considering Antonio's status and his way of doing things, he had no need to fabricate such a lie just to make her believe him.

If Antonio truly wanted to marry Serene, he could do so without going through all this trouble to deceive her. He would simply marry her, regardless of what others said.

Sarah's thoughts were in disarray, and she let out a sigh. Too much was happening lately, and the consecutive intense emotions left her exhausted.

'Is there still a chance between us?'

Lucien's obstruction stood as a colossal mountain between them.

But Sarah wasn't afraid. She believed that anything was possible as long as two people were sincerely together.

These obstacles were nothing. But Antonio's attitude towards her truly bothered her. Sarah was still wearing a worried expression when a gentle knock came from the door.

"Who is it?"

"It's me, I want to talk to you."

Antonio stood at the door, waiting for Sarah's response. He didn't barge in directly but kept his emotions in check, displaying a calm demeanor.

Sarah hesitated for a moment but eventually let him in.

Neither of them noticed that when Antonio entered the room, the two children followed and hid on the side, eavesdropping.

Antonio entered the room and sat across from Sarah, creating an unexpectedly awkward atmosphere. It seemed like the first time they were having such a serious conversation after all this time.

Antonio clenched his fist and sincerely said, "I'm sorry for locking you up before."

Sarah gazed at the unyielding man before her, who refused to retreat, his head slightly inclined towards her. Her eyes widened in surprise.

Instantly, the tension and silence dissipated, and Sarah's expression shifted from indifference to something more revealing.

She let out a sigh and looked back into Antonio's eyes.

"I wanted to talk to you properly earlier, and I also apologize for what happened earlier. I got carried away by my emotions. I believe what you said about the avalanche."

Believe you...

Antonio felt a sudden warmth in his heart. It had been a long time since he felt Sarah's trust.

Suppressing his fluctuating emotions, he leaned closer to Sarah and forcefully pulled her into his embrace.

She reflexively struggled to push him away, but his jaw pressed against her neck, feeling the warmth radiating from his entire body. She froze on the spot, feeling inexplicably aggrieved, and her nose tingled with a hint of sourness.

"Antonio..."

"I promise you, I won't restrict your freedom anymore or stop you from working. But I hope you don't have any more contact with that person, even if you change companies. As long as you won't be with him again, can you do that?"

His voice was hoarse, and he tightened his grip on her arm as if he was afraid of her rejection but also trying hard to restrain himself, exerting too much force.

Sarah furrowed her eyebrows. She couldn't really understand why Antonio cared so much about Asa. However, deep down, she had similar thoughts.

After all, the J&K Group belonged to the Jerret family. If she continued working there, she would inevitably run into Serene. It felt like a thorn stuck in her heart.

The engagement between the Jerret family and the Valencia family was an undeniable fact. Even if the incident with Asa wasn't fabricated, there was always a subtle connection. Saying that she didn't mind was just self-deception.

Still, Sarah also had something she minded. "Okay, I promise to resign, but I have one condition.

"That condition fi for you to sever ties with Serene as well. If you do, I will immediately resign," she said, turning her head and locking eyes with Antonio. Their breaths mingled in the close proximity.

Antonio's gaze softened, and he nodded after a moment of silence. "Alright, I agree."

With the conversation concluded, both of them felt a sense of relief. Sarah quickly sent a text message to Asa, tendering her resignation. Asa was surprised by this decision.

Asa: [Is this really what you want?]Sarah paused for a moment, glancing at Antonio, who Harper was happily pestering for juice.

Sarah: [Yes, it's my own decision.]

After a while, another text message appeared on her phone screen.

Asa: [Alright, I respect your choice.]

Sarah felt a tinge of regret and let out a sigh. Little did she know that after sending that message, Asa's eyes lost all traces of respect and consideration. Instead, they filled with coldness and disdain...
