Chapter 725 How Could It Not Hurt
After that, the air got all creepy quiet.
Sarah's eyes went wide, tears streaming down her face.
Antonio saw her crying like a waterfall and freaked out.
"Sarah, trust me, I didn't lie to you. It's on me. I should've told you sooner. I was too full of myself," he blurted out.
As he wiped her tears, he stammered, "I... I thought keeping it from you would keep you and the kids safe, but I was dead wrong. I can't stand seeing you with other guys, and I don't want you mixed up with them!"
Thinking about that, he wished he were really dead!
Only then could he honestly wish her the best.
As long as he was breathing, no matter who was with Sarah, he'd definitely get her back and keep her close!
Hearing him finally come clean, Sarah's heart, which had been all over the place, finally calmed down.
All those mixed-up feelings found a way out.
"Antonio! You jerk!" She yelled.
"This is all your fault! You were gone for so long! Do you know how I made it through?" Sarah started bawling again, "I couldn't even show it in front of the kids. It's all on you!"
"But, it's so good you're still alive."
"But I won't forgive you that easy! You jerk!"
She cried and laughed, saying a bunch of stuff while hitting Antonio with her fists, like a crazy person.
But neither of them cared.
They both felt like this was the best day in a year.
They finally, truly, got back into each other's arms.
Antonio held her tight, letting her cry and hit him.
After a long time, when Sarah was worn out, Antonio pulled her close, gently comforting and apologizing, "Are you tired? Still mad? Blame me, Sarah, it's all on me, I'm sorry. You can punish me however you want, but you can't ignore me. You can't pick another guy over me. Otherwise, I'd rather be dead."
As he spoke, tears fell from his eyes, landing on Sarah's neck.
Antonio kissed her cheek, his heart aching.
Thinking about the months when he didn't have his memory back, Sarah had to deal with losing him, running the company, the house, and the kids, while he, as clueless "Benjamin," kept messing with her, his guilt grew heavier.
Sarah patted his shoulder and said, "What nonsense are you talking about? Anything's better than being dead!"
Seeing her finally talk, Antonio breathed a sigh of relief, asking, "Can you stop being mad then?"
"Of course not!" Sarah sniffed and wiped her tears. "Why didn't you say this stuff last time?"
He had said he was Antonio last time. But he refused to explain more, so she purposely didn't believe him.
"I..." Antonio held her hand as he explained, "I was scared. Those things really happened, I was afraid you'd think I hurt you, what if you didn't forgive me?" His voice was soft, cautious as he added, "So I wanted to wait until everything was sorted out before properly apologizing to you."
Sarah had never seen him so humble before.
But his words hit home.
Knowing who he really was, she had been mad for a long time.
She bit her lip and finally asked, "You knew I'd be pissed, so why'd you do it? You were back for so long. Didn't you think about coming back to us? Why keep being Benjamin, just to mess with me! How could you be such a jerk?"
Sarah thought to herself, if he chose to hide it again this time, she would really ignore him!
Antonio took a deep breath and said, "Actually, I had amnesia before."
Since he started, he might as well spill everything.
He continued, "After the explosion, Harold saved me, but I lost all my memories, so I didn't come back to you. Instead, I became Benjamin, the eldest son of the Harrington family."
At this point, Antonio smiled, looking at Sarah in his arms with gentle eyes, like he wanted to remember her forever.
"It turns out, no matter who I become, I always fall in love with you."
Even before he got his memory back, he had already started feeling something for Sarah, even getting jealous of the "dead Antonio."
In the end, it was all him.
Hearing that, Sarah's heart trembled, almost making her cry again.
She believed what he said was true.
Since finding out Benjamin was Antonio, Sarah had a lot of questions about the past.
The most suspicious was his move against the Valencia family, trying to take it over, which did hit the Valencia family hard.
Sarah couldn't understand why Antonio would hurt himself.
Given his explanation, everything made sense now, because the original Benjamin wasn't really Antonio, or rather, he didn't have Antonio's memories!
At the same time, Sarah felt heartache.
Although Antonio spoke casually, she had seen the explosion.
It was so bad that she thought Antonio had really been blown to pieces.
Even if he survived, he was in real danger and lost his memory. Recovery must've been rough.
'How did he remember everything later? How much did he struggle?' she couldn't bear to think about it.
Sarah touched Antonio's face, asking with concern, "Did it hurt a lot back then?"
Antonio knew she felt sorry for him and shook his head, comforting, "It didn't hurt. I forgot everything."
How could it not hurt?
Sarah felt heartbroken, instinctively touching his shoulder, her voice choked. "The scar on your shoulder I saw before, was it from that explosion?"
The other scars were scratches, but the one on his shoulder looked like it had been deeply gouged out. Benjamin had lied, saying it was from fighting a tiger.
But she didn't buy it.
Antonio's eyes flickered slightly as he admitted, "Yes."
Actually, it wasn't.
The scar on his shoulder was from Sarah's bite mark.
Harold deliberately gouged it out and took the opportunity to implant the chip.
