Chapter 28 This is Antonio's Son
Lisa shot up from the chair, but that darn frog was stuck to her like glue. The waiter was totally clueless, and people started screaming, making everything go nuts.
Ethan, chilling in the shadows, just crossed his arms and watched the chaos with a smirk. 'Nice job, froggy, scaring the pants off that witch Lisa!' he thought.
Lisa was hopping around like a total fool, looking ridiculous. Finally, the frog jumped off, and she felt like she was gonna puke, so she bolted for the bathroom. Halfway there, she tripped over a chair and face-planted!
Ryan was just standing there, totally shell-shocked, too freaked out to even move.
Seeing Lisa make a fool of herself made Ethan feel all warm and fuzzy inside. After a quick laugh, he noticed Ryan, who was with Lisa. The poor guy looked scared out of his mind, pale as a ghost.
Remembering how Lisa had been chewing Ryan out earlier, Ethan felt a bit sorry for him. But he also felt like a hero for messing with Lisa, so he figured he’d help Ryan out too.
Ethan walked over to Ryan and gave him a pat on the shoulder. "Hey, man, stand tall!"
Ryan snapped out of his daze, feeling the weight on his shoulder. The guy in front of him looked kinda familiar, like Harper from Antonio's place, but this was Ethan.
Ryan's eyes were still full of fear, now mixed with confusion.
Seeing Ryan's lost look, Ethan shook his head and said, "Dude, you can't just take crap from everyone. People will think you're a pushover. Lisa was being a jerk to you, and I couldn't just watch. You gotta stand up to bullies."
Ryan glanced at Ethan, wanting to say Lisa wasn't a bad person, that she was his mom. But as soon as he opened his mouth, he let out a painful groan.
Suddenly, he clutched his chest, feeling like his heart was being squeezed by a giant hand, making it hard to breathe. Cold sweat popped up on his forehead, and he went even paler.
"What's wrong with you?" Ethan grabbed Ryan, realizing something was seriously off. Panicking, he yelled, "Michael, get over here and check him out!"
Michael rushed over at Ethan's call. "We need to get him to the hospital, now!"
He scooped up Ryan and started moving, with Ethan right on his heels.
On the way to the hospital, Ethan held Ryan's hand tight, but it was ice-cold, freaking him out.
It's blazing hot, but Ryan's hand is freezing!
For the first time ever, Ethan had tried to save someone, and he didn't want anything bad to happen. "Michael, what's wrong with him?"
Michael looked at Ryan's scrunched-up face, his expression dead serious. "Could he have a heart condition?"
Hearing this, Ethan sighed, his eyes almost brimming with sympathy. 'Man, poor Ryan. So young and already dealing with heart issues, and he still gets chewed out by Lisa.
Lisa's like some old witch, not even cutting sick Ryan any slack. Guess my payback for her was way too soft!' he thought.
Just then, Michael noticed a silver tag hanging around Ryan's neck. He quickly flipped it over and saw an emergency contact number on it.
But when he saw the name, Michael was floored!
It was Antonio!
"What's up?" Seeing Michael's weird expression, Ethan took a peek. In the next second, the light in his eyes dimmed. "Is this Antonio's kid?"
Michael stayed quiet, while Ethan looked at the now-unconscious Ryan, pursing his lips and falling silent.
Back at the villa, Antonio was flat-out refusing to have curry noodles, his face dark as he stared at Sarah, waiting for her to cave and make pasta instead.
Sarah frowned and stood her ground, super annoyed by his stubborn gaze.
To dodge another fight, Harper quickly ran over and stood between them. She grabbed Antonio's hand and said, "Curry noodles are awesome. You gotta try them. I bet you'll love 'em!"
A crack appeared on Antonio's stern face as he looked down at Harper, his expression pretty interesting.
In the end, he caved.
Antonio barely pursed his thin lips and looked at Sarah. "You go make what Harper wants. Have another servant whip up my portion."
In less than half an hour, dinner was ready.
Antonio noticed only two plates on the table, one for him and one for Harper, but none for Sarah.
"Luna, come eat with us," Harper said, seeing Sarah about to leave, and quickly pulled her back.
Sarah shook her head. Just as she was about to refuse, Antonio said, "Stay here and eat with us."
It was clearly a command, leaving no room for argument.
Sarah didn't want to deal with Antonio, but seeing the pleading look in Harper's big eyes, she softened and was about to sit down when a phone rang.
Antonio glanced at his phone, frowned slightly, and answered it.
"Antonio, your kid's in the hospital. Get here quick."
Hearing this, Antonio's expression changed. He stood up abruptly and left without looking back.
Harper didn't even get a chance to say anything before he was gone.
The smile on her little face froze instantly, and she lowered her head in disappointment.
Seeing Harper's sad look reignited the anger Sarah had just managed to squash. She had heard the voice on the phone and knew what Antonio was up to.
As expected, Ryan was still the most important to him!
