Chapter 971 Ungrateful!
Sarah could see it too, but since it was Mary's choice, she respected it. "Alright… if that's what you've decided, you can come stay at my place on weekends. That way, Cynthia and I won't miss you so much."
Mary nodded with a smile. "Okay!"
After the previous argument, Mary was genuinely scared and didn't know how to face Timothy.
Growing up without a mother, Kenneth had raised her alone. She knew how busy Kenneth was with work, so she always made an effort to take care of herself. Because of this, she feared becoming a burden to anyone.
It felt like becoming a burden meant being abandoned...
But Kenneth left her anyway.
Mary tried to comfort herself, telling herself it wasn't her fault, it was an accident. Yet, a small voice inside her kept asking if it was her own immaturity that caused everything.
After marrying Timothy, she became even more cautious, enduring Shirley's disdain and harassment without saying a word, fearing she would become a burden to Timothy...
But in the end, he got tired of her anyway.
Sarah watched Mary force a smile, sighing silently in her heart.
She quietly walked away, thinking about calling Antonio to check on the situation, but hesitated and didn't make the call.
If there was any progress, he would tell her. She didn't want to pressure him.
In fact, Antonio had just hit a wall.
He and James had arrived at the Morrison Villa early in the morning. As soon as Fox saw him, he was on high alert and immediately sent someone to notify Una.
It wasn't long before Una came out of the villa with bodyguards.
"Antonio! Are you trying to break into a private residence?!"
Seeing her aggressive stance, Antonio took a deep breath after a moment of thought. "Mrs. Morrison, last time was a misunderstanding. I believe you know by now that Bob's disappearance had nothing to do with us. Strictly speaking, we're still friends."
Friends who didn't get along with each other.
"Friends?" Una sneered. "Just the fact that your wife seduced Bob shows that your whole family is no good!"
She hadn't even settled the score with them, and now he dared to show up!
Antonio frowned. "Mrs. Morrison, you come from a prestigious family. Can't you tell right from wrong?"
That was putting it mildly.
She was acting like a common shrew.
Una snorted coldly, crossing her arms with an air of superiority. "Don't give me that nonsense. Just tell me what you want."
Antonio took a deep breath, remembering his purpose for coming, and suppressed his temper. "My wife has a necklace that Nia has now. Since you've taken Nia back, you should let me retrieve the necklace."
Una couldn't care less, her sharp eyes seeming to see through everything. "Is your family so poor now? Do you want something back that you gave away? I'm telling you, if you want to see Nia, it's not happening!"
Using a necklace as an excuse, did he think the Morrison Family were fools?
"Fox, lock the gate!"
"From today on, if anyone from the Valencia Family shows up, don't report to me. Just kick them out!"
Antonio and James stood at the gate, completely disregarded by Una.
Fox and the bodyguards quickly locked the iron gate, shutting them out.
Una wasn't done. She turned to Fox and said, "Call the police and file a report. If they… or Sarah… come again, it's trespassing and harassment! Have them arrested!"
Antonio and James were speechless.
"Mr. Valencia… what now?"
"What now?!" Antonio was grinding his teeth in anger, but there was no point in getting mad. "If we can't do it openly, we'll have to think of another way!"
He thought Una was just bluffing, but she actually called the police.
Not long after, Antonio received a call from the police.
Una claimed he had ill intentions towards the Morrison Family's child, saying it was to protect the child's safety.
James was furious. "Mr. Valencia, they've gone too far!"
Antonio rubbed his temples, taking a moment before speaking. "Drive back to the office."
They needed a long-term plan.
He closed his eyes, trying to calm the frustration, and decided to call Sarah to update her.
Sarah had just finished practicing writing with Ryan when she saw his call and answered immediately, unable to hide her excitement.
"Hello, did you get it?"
Antonio heard her anticipation and paused. "I'm sorry, Sarah… we need to find another way."
Sarah gripped the sofa armrest, nodding. "Okay… take care of yourself, don't overwork."
After hanging up, she couldn't help but feel disappointed.
With the Morrison Family guarding so tightly, what could they do?
The more Sarah thought about it, the more restless she became. She decided to drive to the Morrison Villa to see for herself.
Meanwhile, the Morrison Family was in chaos.
"What do we do, Mrs. Morrison… Nia has been crying nonstop, her voice is hoarse!"
"What do we do! If I knew what to do, would I need you?!"
Una was furious. Nia had been crying all day! What was she crying about?
Nia had seemed so well-behaved before. How did she change so much after staying with Sarah for a few days?
The maid, seeing Una's impatience, felt a bit sympathetic towards her.
"Mrs. Morrison… maybe we should give Nia the necklace Ms. Miller gave her. She likes playing with it."
Nia had cried before, but holding that necklace calmed her down a lot.
Una had taken the necklace away when she saw it.
Una's face darkened, but she had no other options. She just wanted Nia to stop crying; the noise was driving her crazy!
"Go! Get it for her!"
The maid sighed in relief and quickly fetched the necklace.
Sure enough, Nia's crying quieted down significantly once she had the necklace, clutching it tightly.
"Have you been bought off by that woman in just a few days?"
Una looked at Nia coldly. "Ungrateful. No matter how much you want to go back to her, you're part of the Morrison Family now, whether you like it or not!"
"Watch her!"
She stormed back to her room.
Even the two maids stood there, feeling both pity and helplessness. They were just lowly servants, hoping Nia would behave so Una might like her more.
Nia was easier to soothe with the necklace and soon fell asleep, exhausted from crying.
One maid sighed, seeing Nia still sobbing in her sleep.
"Mrs. Morrison is too…"
"Shh!"
The other maid shook her head and gestured outside.
They took the trash out, finally breathing a sigh of relief once outside.
The maid glanced back, making sure no one else was around. "You dare say that inside? If Mrs. Morrison heard, you'd lose your job!"
