Chapter 772 Let Me Kiss for a While
Harold was stunned for a second after getting hit, but he quickly snapped out of it and fought back, his face red with anger. "How dare you hit me! I'm your dad!"
Harold swung with deadly force every time.
Antonio's eyes turned icy, and he stopped holding back.
Harold had to pay for what he did; all the suffering those three women went through would be avenged on him!
In the end, Harold's strength was no match, and he was soon knocked to the ground, unable to get up for a long time.
Antonio looked down at him, his eyes cold, and sneered, "You don't repent while you're alive, so now you can wait to die and personally atone to my mom! No, you don't even deserve to see her again! I'll bury her in the most beautiful place, with flowers and sunlight! And your ashes deserve no better than to be washed down the drain."
"You!" Harold, sweating like crazy, was pinned to the ground, unable to get up. His face turned red, and he suddenly smirked as he pulled out a controller from his pocket. "You think you can really turn the tables? Since you have a death wish, don't expect any mercy from me!"
'Even if Benjamin is my son, so what? If he can't be controlled, he has no value!' With this thought, Harold pressed the controller with a sinister smile, activating the self-destruct program of the chip inside Antonio.
But to his surprise, after a while, Antonio showed no reaction, even looking at him with a smile.
"Why aren't you going on? Is that all you've got?" Antonio's gaze swept over the controller in Harold's hand, his eyes deepening.
Harold started to panic but kept pressing the switch in his hand, saying viciously, "What did you do? It's impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
"What's impossible?" Antonio sneered, pulling out a jammer. "Dad, did you really think I was utterly unprepared? It appears the most foolish person is actually you!"
Harold stopped his actions, looking at Antonio in disbelief.
"So, you knew all along! Everything was an act; you've been putting on a show all this time in front of me." His eyes bulged as he still found it hard to believe, unwilling to accept that Antonio could be so shrewd. But now the facts were in front of him, leaving no room for doubt.
"I should have let you die back then! You don't deserve to be Carter's and my son!" Harold said as he got up and walked in a certain direction, a vicious glint flashing in his lowered eyes.
"Take those words to hell with you!" Antonio clenched his fists, wanting to finish Harold off.
As long as he handed Harold over to the police, everything would be over.
But unexpectedly, just as Antonio took a couple of steps, a sudden change occurred!
Harold quickly ran to a corner and pressed an unknown switch, causing the house to fill with thick smoke, as if countless smoke bombs had been thrown.
A white haze covered everything, making it impossible to see.
In the empty living room, a rumbling sound suddenly echoed, then everything returned to silence.
Antonio covered his mouth and nose, his face changing at the sound as he realized Harold had escaped. But he couldn't see anything clearly now!
After a long while, the smoke in the room gradually dissipated, and Antonio discovered that there was a complete underground tunnel in the villa! Even the bodyguards were dead silent.
Antonio took a deep breath, his jaw clenched in fury, and said coldly, "Get the cops on this. Tell them to hunt down Harold!"
Antonio had already handed over Cynthia's diary and the stuff from the safe to Larry.
Harold was now a wanted man all over the city; even if he ran, he wouldn't get far.
Larry was blown away when he saw it. In all his years on the force, he'd never seen such a twisted mess. He felt deep sympathy for Carter and the other two. Plus, his good relationship with Antonio made it easier for him to empathize, spreading a wave of anger through the entire detective squad. They swore to catch Harold fast.
A special task force was even set up in the city to dig into this major economic and criminal case!
It took Antonio a while to calm down.
After a bit, he slowly bent down, picked up the fallen finger bone, held it tight in his hand, and went upstairs.
There was a room upstairs just for Carter's stuff.
Antonio opened the door and looked at the portrait on the wall with a mix of reverence and sorrow for the first time.
In the photo, Carter had a gentle smile, like she had let go of everything.
"Mom, don't worry, I will make Harold pay for what he has done." Antonio's face was filled with gloom.
Looking closer, it could be seen that he looked a lot like Carter, having inherited her fine features, which made Antonio feel a bit better; at least he didn't look like Harold.
'My mom couldn't change her fate, so when she gave birth to me, did she also hate me? When she later committed suicide, leaving me in this world, what was she thinking?' Antonio wondered; but these questions would never have answers.
Antonio didn't want to dwell on these unanswerable questions for too long.
Carter was already gone; those who were alive needed to live well.
Antonio stayed in the room for a long time, carefully wiping Carter's portraits, then took the finger bone to the hospital where Sarah was still waiting for him.
Antonio no longer wore the human skin mask; since everything had already come to light with Harold, and with Harold now on the run, there was no need for him to disguise himself anymore.
Sarah didn't know that Antonio had returned to Marshall City. She had just arrived at the hospital, and Cynthia hadn't been moved out of the ICU yet.
Sarah sat in the empty ward, waiting for the visiting time.
Before long, the door to the ward was suddenly pushed open with great force from the outside.
Sarah turned around, instantly overjoyed. "Antonio!"
Antonio strode over and silenced her with a kiss, pressing her against the wall, his hot breath filled with unease and repression, as if only this could make him feel that everything was real.
Sarah wondered why he had suddenly returned and was clearly injured. "What happened to..."
Antonio's large hand cupped the back of her head, his breath heavy, and he softly coaxed, "Sarah, don't move. Let me kiss you for a while."
