Chapter 925 He Can Only Play a Supporting Role
Bob clearly saw the disgust and wariness in her eyes.
Once upon a time, before Antonio appeared, they had good times together.
Why had everything changed now? Was it too late for him to do anything?
An endless bitterness welled up in Bob's heart.
"Okay." He said with difficulty.
He looked at her deeply, but could only hide the love in his eyes, "Then you should rest well, don't do anything foolish, your health is the most important. After all, if Antonio knew, he would be heartbroken for you. For his sake, take care of yourself."
This time, Bob had long understood that Benjamin was Antonio.
He already knew that the two names referred to the same person. Sarah was not surprised, she just glanced at him indifferently. "Yes. As for the kidney donation, I will find an opportunity to tell him myself, so I hope you can keep quiet."
"Okay, I understand." Bob nodded with a bitter smile, "Goodbye, Ms. Miller."
He took this as his last conversation with Sarah, calling her so formally with a heart-wrenching pain.
In the past at the company, he was her subordinate, and according to the rules, he should call her formally, but he always called her Sarah in his heart, as if that could bring them closer. Even when he called her Sarah a few times, she never corrected him.
But now, he had the ability and status to be on equal footing with her, he had everything, but lost the right to call her Sarah.
Sarah said calmly, "Goodbye."
Watching Bob's tall figure walk out of the hospital room, she finally let out a heavy sigh of relief, lying back on the bed, still shaken.
But she didn't know that Bob hadn't actually left the hospital.
He walked a few steps out of the room and stopped, the tight feeling in his chest making it hard to breathe.
Leaving today, in the future, would he have nothing to do with her anymore?
Her personality was always clear-cut in love and hate. She said they could be friends, but it was just a polite remark. How could she really have any connection with him?
Bob chuckled bitterly.
He leaned against the wall, not wanting to leave just like that, not wanting to exit her world so easily. After all, wasn't ithem who accompanied her through the toughest times?
He deceived himself, thinking, why not stay with her one last time?
He had nothing more to offer her, so he would take tonight as the last chance to protect her.
Although even Sarah didn't know, the supporting characters in stories always silently protected the heroine, wasn't that how it was written?
He knew his place.
After tonight, they would have no more connection.
Bob found a spot at the end of the corridor, where he could see Sarah's ward diagonally across, but it wasn't conspicuous, not immediately noticeable.
He slid into the chair, his legs naturally bent, his long fingers covering his forehead, hiding most of his face, and also the pain and gloom in his eyes.
At midnight, the entire hospital fell into silence.
Lisa was still wearing her cleaning uniform, with a mask on, the scar on her chin partially visible, looking somewhat eerie in the dim light.
She glanced at the time, the night check had passed for a while, and everyone who should be asleep was asleep.
'Long time no see, Sarah!' Lisa curved her lips, walking precisely towards Sarah's ward.
From a distance, she saw someone sitting on a bench at the end of the corridor, his hands on his knees, looking like he was asleep.
'These poor people are unbearable! No money, yet they come to the VIP floor to sleep?' She mocked in her head.
Lisa's disdainful gaze swept over him, not bothering to pay attention, she stood in front of Sarah's ward, peeking inside. "That bitch Sarah, she should be asleep by now, right?"
Little did she know, Bob was not asleep at all, and her sneaky behavior was fully observed by him!
He suddenly raised his eyes, staring sharply at the oddly dressed cleaner, Lisa, in the dark.
Lisa was unaware, she reached out to twist the doorknob of Sarah's room, unsurprisingly, it was locked. She snorted coldly, took out a stolen key, and carefully inserted it.
With a faint sound, the door opened, Lisa was about to step inside, but a ghostly voice suddenly sounded behind her. "Who are you?"
Lisa was so frightened that she trembled all over, covering her mouth tightly to avoid screaming.
Her hair stood on end, her heart pounding as she turned around, only to find it was Bob, who had been sleeping at the end of the corridor, now silently standing behind her!
He was tall, imposing, the look in his eyes reminded her inexplicably of a beast guarding its treasure.
Lisa took a couple of deep breaths, silently closed the door, and pretended to be calm, "I should be asking you that. What are you doing here? The hospital is not a place for vagrants to sleep, you better leave, if the night security comes and sees you, it won't be as simple as just kicking you out!"
Lisa lowered her voice, involuntarily gripping the syringe in her hand, "Get out!"
She looked at Bob in front of her, while cautiously turning her head to check the situation inside the ward.
No lights on, Sarah should still be asleep.
However, as soon as she finished speaking, Bob grabbed her wrist tightly, his cold voice penetrating to the bone. "I'd like to see who the security should really be catching!"
He controlled her with one hand, snatching the syringe from her with the other, "You're a cleaner, what are you doing with this thing at the door of a ward in the middle of the night?"
At such a close distance, Lisa realized that Bob was quite handsome, his eyes burning with anger and sharpness, making it hard to look directly at him.
She shuddered, "What... what does it have to do with you? This is the hospital's arrangement, who are you to question it? Let me go! If you don't, I'll call for help!"
Bob stared at her, taking in her contracted pupils and unnatural expression, he was sure, Lisa had bad intentions!
Her target must be Sarah!
At this moment, Bob also became nervous, fortunately, he hadn't left tonight, otherwise, who knew what would have happened?
"Do you know who is in that room? What are you planning to do to her? Speak!"
The cold voice made Lisa's heart panic, she began to struggle hard, "I don't know what you're talking about! Let me go!"
She had waited so long for this opportunity, who knew there would be a Bob at Sarah's door!
'What bad luck! Is he Sarah's bodyguard?' Lisa thought.
Seeing the situation was not in her favor, Lisa tried to run, but Bob held her tightly.
"Let go!"
Bob sneered, dragging her wrist downstairs. "If you won't talk, I'll call the cops, you can explain to them!"
