Chapter 562 I Know the Inside Story
Out of the blue, he started speaking as if to someone else. Like clockwork, everyone's heads swiveled toward Sarah.
Sarah had already tried her best to keep a low profile, so being suddenly noticed like this caught her off guard. She couldn't understand how Benjamin could even notice this.
She forced a smile and said, "Um...yeah, I didn't notice. Thank you, Mr. Harrington, for reminding me."
After speaking, Sarah slowly moved towards the seat.
Seeing her like this, Benjamin raised an eyebrow and swiftly walked over, picking up the photo before Sarah could. Then, he handed it to her.
Benjamin implied, "Ms. Miller, please be more careful next time."
Sarah lowered her gaze and took the photo without saying a word.
Benjamin's expression remained unchanged as he watched her collect the photo. However, he keenly sensed that Sarah seemed to have no intention of acknowledging him, deliberately turning her face to the other side.
Before she couldn't control her excitement every time she saw him because he resembled her late husband. The contrast is too striking, and Benjamin's heart is filled with an unnoticed dissatisfaction.
He flashed a sneer in his eyes and said in a pleasant voice, "Thank you, Ms. Miller, for personally awarding me. To express my gratitude, how about having a meal together later?"
Sarah couldn't help but be taken aback.
What does this man want to do?
However, it's difficult to speculate on someone's intentions, so Sarah could only determine what she wanted to do.
The Harringtons are her target of persuasion. She wants Benjamin to accept the batch of goods from the Jerrett's.
So she will attend this meal.
Sarah's gaze met his eyes and smiled slightly, saying, "Thank you, Mr. Harrington."
Harper and Ethan also heard what their parents had just said. Of course, they couldn't tag along as third wheels. They immediately shook their heads and refused, "Mommy, we already promised Grandpa to have dinner with him. You go by yourself. We'll go pick up Ryan and go home together!"
Sarah thought that she was going to discuss business, and the children would find it boring. Furthermore, she didn't want the children to have too much interaction with Benjamin, so she agreed, "Okay, make sure to get home safely after you guys go back."
"Okay, goodbye, mommy!"
Sarah felt relieved in her heart. Today, the two children didn't cause any trouble when they saw Benjamin. It seems they took her words from that day to heart.
Benjamin personally drove Sarah to a high-end restaurant. He had already changed back into his original black suit. Every move he made exuded nobility and charm.
The waiter pulled out the chairs for them, and Sarah sat across from him.
She took a sip of water, and her anxiety eased a bit. She politely complimented, "Mr. Harrington, you clearly have a refined taste for life. This restaurant's dishes are exquisite, and ordinary people can't book a seat here."
"Maybe it's because I'm lucky."
The deep and steady aura faded into the air, and his humble tone of speech revealed a natural sense of superiority.
With calm composure, he glanced at the woman opposite him. Since the moment Sarah was asked to present the award at the racetrack, Benjamin knew she was the boss behind CL.
What he didn't expect was that this woman would still be interested in racing. But she shouldn't be operating the racetrack in poverty. And that poor little boy.
Benjamin was genuinely curious and asked, "Ms. Miller seems to be a very rule-abiding person. How could the racetrack employ child labor?"
Sarah was asked a question that bewildered her, and her tone wasn't very good. "Mr. Harrington, what are you talking about? How could I possibly employ child labor?"
Benjamin calmly took a sip of his water and said, "Since I said that, I naturally know the insider information of your racetrack."
Sarah became even more confused.
What insider information? She had no idea!
Although she hadn't been involved in the racetrack business since Antonio bought it, she did look at the monthly reports, and there were no strange issues.
Benjamin felt that the expression on her face seemed quite fake. He smiled and briefly recounted the incident when they met Ryan on the street looking for investment and he fainted from hunger.
Sarah didn't want to believe it, but Benjamin didn't seem to have a reason to lie. She thought it might be one of the employee's children who went outside to help their parents achieve better performance but didn't express it clearly, so it was mistaken as seeking investments.
This matter was absurd, and Sarah was also puzzled. She could only say, "Thank you, Mr. Harrington. However, there must be a misunderstanding on this matter, and I will handle it."
She said with a fake smile, "Please rest assured, Mr. Harrington, CL Racetrack is not short of money and absolutely would not employ child labor."
However, she had indeed never personally managed the racetrack, so it was inevitable that the staff might slack off. Benjamin reminded her today, and after she went back, she should give them a good scolding.
This racetrack was a gift from Antonio, and she wouldn't allow any mishaps to happen to it.
But Benjamin raised an eyebrow and said, "Is that so?"
He saw the expression in her eyes clearly.
This woman had a certain kind of drive that he couldn't quite put into words.
It made him want to explore it.
Benjamin spoke in a light and airy tone, "But..."
