Chapter 841 Poor Antonio
Francis was breathing heavily, barely managing to break free from his restraints.
"Do you find it fun to suspect others all the time?" He lowered his eyes to hide his expression, looking somewhat aggrieved. "You know very well that you're the only one around me."
"Besides, I can't even take care of myself right now. How could I be thinking about any woman? You're saying this on purpose to embarrass me, aren't you?"
Seeing his dejected face, Guadalupe frowned and said, "Starting to distort the truth?"
Francis pressed his lips together and said nothing.
Guadalupe's gaze fell on him, deep and inscrutable. "I see you really miss your days abroad. How about I send you back tomorrow?"
Francis had had enough of being controlled by him. Hearing these words, the anger deep within him surged even more, but he had to endure it!
His trembling chest looked like fear, but in reality, he was holding back his emotions. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have called you despicable."
Francis closed his eyes, as if in compromise.
He took out his phone, opened an email from the Valencia Group announcing a new appointment, and handed it to Guadalupe. "I wanted to tell you this good news earlier, but you started questioning me as soon as you came in, which made me so angry."
Guadalupe knew his temperament. Francis might appear gentle and unassuming, but he rarely conceded like this.
His eyes fixed on the hand in front of him, he reached out and grasped it.
Bringing it closer, the content of the email came into view.
"Vice President?" Guadalupe's lips curled with interest, and the anger in his cold voice seemed to dissipate significantly. "It seems Antonio really trusts you. In just a few days, he's given you such an important position."
"In any case, I've already started taking action." Francis looked up at him, his posture almost one of reverence, his gentle tone soothing. "I will follow through step by step as we discussed. Just give me a little more time, okay?"
Guadalupe's gaze tightened, a strange warmth passing through his heart. Facing this version of Francis, he found himself unable to say anything harsh.
He snorted coldly, "Anyway, don't let me see you getting too close to Sarah again, understand?"
Francis cursed him inwardly but could only suppress all his emotions and agree, "Yes, I understand."
Meanwhile, in another villa, Sarah inexplicably sneezed.
Antonio immediately asked with concern, "Sarah, are you catching a cold?"
"I don't think so." Sarah rubbed her nose. "I don't feel uncomfortable anywhere. Don't be so surprised."
"It's only natural for me to worry about you."
He noticed that since they got home, Sarah hadn't been as cold and distant as she had been the past few days. It seemed she wasn't as angry anymore.
The more Antonio thought about it, the better he felt. He couldn't help but kiss Sarah. "Sarah, you go to sleep first. Ryan wasn't feeling well during the day, so I'll go check on him."
Speaking of Ryan, Sarah pushed him. "Then go quickly."
When he reached Ryan's room, Antonio immediately saw the small figure on the bed. Ryan was curled up and not asleep. Seeing him come in, his eyes brightened. "Daddy."
"Yes, are you feeling better?"
"I took some medicine, and I'm much better now."
He just had a slight cold, nothing serious.
Antonio sat on the edge of the bed, reached out to feel his forehead, confirmed the temperature was normal, and tucked him in. "What you told me on the phone today, is it true? Did you really hear Francis say those things to Mr. Diaz?"
At the mention of this, Ryan instinctively shrank under the covers.
Thinking about Guadalupe's demeanor that afternoon, he really felt scared!
"It's true." He nodded. "I heard my dad say he wanted to get back at you, and he also said..."
"And what else did he say?" Antonio asked.
Ryan bit his lip, fear flashing in his eyes, but he still truthfully recounted the conversation he had overheard. "Daddy, aren't you and my dad brothers? Why would he say he wants to get back at you?"
Listening to Ryan's innocent voice, Antonio sighed silently, even wishing Ryan hadn't heard those words.
Ryan was naturally kind-hearted, and knowing too much might not be a good thing.
He gently stroked Ryan's head, comforting him softly. "Francis and I will always be brothers; that's something that can't be changed. But just like you kids sometimes have disagreements, and adults occasionally have misunderstandings too. Once those misunderstandings are cleared up, everything will be fine. Do you understand?"
Ryan nodded, half understanding. "So, you just need to clear up the misunderstanding?"
To him, they were both very important dads.
He didn't want to see either of them get hurt.
"Of course." Antonio could see the worry and fear in his eyes, so his voice became even gentler. "This isn't something a child should worry about. Adults have their own ways of resolving misunderstandings. Don't think too much about it, okay?"
"I understand, Daddy."
"Good, now go to sleep." He tucked Ryan in again and gently patted him twice before getting up. Just as he was about to leave, he noticed Sarah standing at the door. It seemed she had heard the conversation and hadn't come in.
She gestured for him to come out.
Antonio's heart skipped a beat. He turned off the bedside lamp and walked out, gently closing the door.
Sarah crossed her arms over her chest. "So, what's going on?"
"The kids are asleep. Let's talk in the bedroom."
Antonio led her back to the master bedroom. He didn't intend to hide anything and calmly recounted what Ryan had said. In the quiet room, his voice didn't even waver.
"Really?" Sarah looked at his calm expression in surprise. "Francis, he seems so gentle. I didn't expect he would blame you. I thought..."
She thought Francis had gone through so much and returned, understanding the importance of family. But it turned out he came back for revenge.
He joined the Valencia Group to take back the company.
The more she thought about it, the more terrifying it seemed!
And what role did Guadalupe play in all this?
"It doesn't matter." Antonio seemed unconcerned, taking her hand and speaking softly. "It's understandable. After all, Francis got into trouble because of me back then and lost his legs because of it."
"He must have suffered a lot abroad all these years. Now that he's back with the Valencia family and found that his original family is gone and the Valencia Group is under my management."
"If he really hates me, it's understandable. I'm grateful he came back, giving me a chance to make up for my guilt."
"As for the Valencia Group..."
A faint smile appeared on his lips, but to Sarah, it looked full of bitterness.
"The entire company should have been his. Even if Francis didn't ask, I would have handed it over to him without hesitation."
"But he doesn't trust me now. No matter what I say, he would think I'm not sincere. So let's wait a bit longer until he fully grasps the core projects of the company."
Sarah listened intently, realizing that every word he said was for Francis's sake.
He must be feeling very sad inside.
