Chapter 861 What Did Harold Want to Do?
Somehow, but when Francis heard these words, an inexplicable feeling of discomfort welled up inside him, which was unfamiliar but bitter.
A bitter smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, and he couldn't help but sigh inwardly. Antonio had a devoted wife like Sarah and a gentle and kind pursuer like Isabella.
All the good things in this world seemed to come his way.
Isabella had just stepped out of the elevator when she couldn't help but sneeze. As she fished out her car keys from her bag, she muttered, "Is this because I'm going to the hospital, so I might as well catch a cold?"
She had taken the afternoon off to go to the hospital for a pre-employment physical.
She had just come downstairs and bought a cup of coffee. If she hadn't run into Ryan, she might have already been at the hospital by now.
Unexpectedly, in the time it took to do a good deed, she also learned a bit about Francis.
Isabella drove to the hospital with mixed feelings.
The pre-employment physical was done quickly, and when she came out, it was still early. She was debating whether to go somewhere to shop when she suddenly received a call from an unknown number.
"Hello, is this Ms. Moore?"
"This is Isabella. Who is this?"
"This is the prison. Inmate Harold has requested to see you. You can refuse."
Hearing that, Isabella was stunned.
Given the current situation, what could he possibly want to see her for?
Isabella felt both puzzled and uneasy. After all, she now knew that Harold was not the kind and gentle elder she had once thought.
He was already crippled and imprisoned. Could he still be plotting something?
If she hadn't received this call today, Isabella might not have thought of Harold. But now, she couldn't ignore it.
After all, he had raised her. She couldn't repay that debt, nor could she ignore his request to meet. She decided to go see him.
At the prison, Isabella took a deep breath and touched the recording pen she had brought along, waiting quietly in the visiting room for Harold to appear.
This was the first time she had seen him since learning his true nature.
Although she knew his current fate, when the man she once revered as a father appeared before her like a walking corpse, she was so shocked that she instinctively took a step back, unable to recover for a long time.
"Mr. Harrington."
Harold saw her staring at his amputated legs, and a shadow flickered in his eyes.
He had figured it out during this time. The reason Antonio had successfully plotted against him was definitely because Isabella had helped!
Otherwise, with Isabella's past temperament, she would have come to the prison crying long ago, maybe even begging Antonio for mercy on his behalf.
But she hadn't even shown her face.
'Isabella, the traitor. Everyone he has raised is ungrateful people!' He thought to himself.
Although he thought this, Harold's face only showed a sad expression. He sighed, "Isabella, you're here. I thought you wouldn't bother with me anymore."
Isabella bit her lip, not knowing what to say.
Before coming, she indeed didn't want to bother with Harold.
But seeing him like this now, she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable.
After a long while, she finally looked up and said, "Mr. Harrington, are you doing okay in there?"
Harold gave a bitter smile, "Look at me. Do I look like I'm doing okay? I'm completely a cripple now, and it's all because of Antonio!"
Isabella was stunned. Seeing the gloom on his face, she knew Harold still hadn't realized his mistakes.
Her lips moved, but she said nothing.
"Isabella." Harold looked at her, his eyes slightly red, perhaps from excitement. "You see, I've ended up like this, but Antonio must not have told you the truth, right? He lied to you!"
"He... he only told me you were arrested," Isabella replied.
To Harold, this sounded like she believed "Antonio lied to her."
He breathed a sigh of relief, his eyes flashing as he began to persuade Isabella. "Isabella, I don't know what Antonio told you before, but everything he said was a lie. His goal was to use you!"
"Look at me now, and you'll see what a heartless person he is!"
"He can even harm his biological father. What else wouldn't he do?"
"Who knows, he might already be plotting against you behind your back!"
Isabella listened carefully to every word he said, feeling only pity.
She came today purely out of gratitude for being raised.
However, Harold still thought he could deceive her. What was the point? Did he still want to use her for something?
Why did he think that after everything that had happened, she would still believe his words? Weren't the stories he made up before enough?
Isabella lowered her eyes, quietly listening to him finish.
"Isabella, you must not fall for his tricks. A person like him can never be sincere!"
She tugged at the corner of her mouth, as if she had taken his words to heart.
Although Isabella felt bitter, she was smart. Since she was here today and Harold indeed had ulterior motives, she couldn't leave empty-handed.
Sarah was a good person, and Antonio loved her very much. Isabella was afraid Harold might harm them again.
So, Isabella composed herself and looked at him with a burning gaze, "Really? I didn't expect he would harm you like this. He doesn't see me anymore either. I'm very sad. I didn't expect someone I once treated sincerely to be so heartless."
"Exactly! I didn't expect it either!" Harold breathed a sigh of relief, seeing the sincere expression on Isabella's face, hope rekindled in his heart. He coaxed, "Yes, Isabella, Antonio is a devil! Look at what he's done to me. The last thing I want is for him to hurt you. You are like a daughter to me! Do you know how worried I am about you? Isabella, would you help me with something? If it works, we'll have the leverage to bring him down!"
This was Harold's true intention!
Isabella's heart skipped a beat, but she forced herself to stay calm. "What is it?"
"I'll give you an address. There's a backup computer system there. I implanted a chip in Antonio's body, and that system controls the chip!"
A sinister smile crept onto Harold's face. "He thinks he's safe after destroying one, but how could he not realize I would have a backup plan? Once you get that system, his life will be in our hands, and we won't have to fear him anymore!"
