Chapter 176 I'm Going to Win You Back
In the evening, while Sarah wasn't paying attention, Harper secretly sneaked into Ethan's room and cheerfully said, "Ethan, I feel confident that Mommy will reconcile with Daddy this time. I just know it."
"Who knows?" Ethan glanced at her, appearing somewhat indifferent.
He didn't believe that Antonio could come up with any good ideas, nor was he optimistic about a reconciliation.
"Hmph! Ethan, just wait and see. I will definitely succeed this time." Harper said proudly.
She had been thinking about it for a long time this time, and based on her understanding of Sarah, she knew that Sarah would be moved by this.
…
In the blink of an eye, it was Sarah's birthday. She had to leave the villa in the morning to attend to some matters. When she returned in the evening, something felt odd as soon as she got out of the car.
The villa was pitch black, and the bodyguards and service staff who used to stand at the entrance were nowhere to be seen.
Just as she found it strange, Ryan rushed out of the villa, his pale face covered in sweat. When he saw Sarah, his gaze flickered with unease.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" Sarah asked softly.
It wasn't that she was overly worried, but the villa tonight was indeed strange.
Ryan lowered his head, a little flustered, and pointed inside the villa as he mumbled, "H-Harper... She..."
"What happened to Harper? Did something happen?" Sarah asked anxiously.
Sarah's anxious expression startled Ryan, and he stuttered for a while before finally saying, "On... On the top floor, Harper… She..."
Before he could finish, Sarah hastily entered the villa, rushing up to the top floor. Her heart was filled with fear, praying that nothing had happened to Harper.
But as soon as she pushed open the door, she was taken aback by the scene in front of her. Countless stars twinkled in the room as if she were standing in the midst of a starry sky.
The sight was incredibly breathtaking. The vast expanse of stars was right before her eyes, seemingly within reach despite originally being so far away.
Antonio appeared at that moment. He was tall and slender, wearing an exquisite designer suit that exuded charm. His sharp features showed a hint of imperceptible nervousness, and he tightened his grip on the bouquet of stars.
Sarah was momentarily stunned but soon realized that all of this was arranged by Antonio. The surprise on her face was replaced with coldness. "Does all this mean anything?"
"It will have meaning if you like it." Antonio stopped in front of her and extended his hand, offering her the flowers.
Sarah only glanced at them and had no intention of accepting.
Antonio didn't mind and calmly spoke, "Sarah, let's start anew."
Outside the door, a few little onlookers held their breaths.
"Do you think Mommy will agree to be together with Daddy again?" Harper whispered, her voice low.
At that moment, she wasn't as certain as before. She didn't know the weight Antonio held in Sarah's heart, nor did she know Sarah's true opinion of Antonio after going through so much. She just...
I think Daddy is great, and I don't want him and Mommy to separate.
Ryan nodded with a faint smile on his pale face. He believed that any decision Harper made was the right one.
Ethan glanced at the two of them, who were stealing glances, and silently led them away.
"What are you doing, Ethan?" Harper said, displeased.
She wanted to know if Sarah would agree or not.
"Stop peeking. You'll find out tomorrow," Ethan said, leading the two of them downstairs.
Harper pouted. "But I want to know now."
"You'll get caught if you keep being nosy," Ethan said casually.Although he was also curious about Sarah's thoughts, these two were too blatant, and it was easy for them to get caught.
Hearing this, Harper suppressed the urge to take another look. Ethan was right; they would know the result tomorrow. She should just wait patiently.
On the other side, Sarah showed no emotion at Antonio's words. She had long decided not to have anything to do with him anymore. This time, she returned to the villa because of Harper.
"Antonio, there's no need for you to bother. We can't go back to how things used to be," Sarah said calmly, her demeanor gentle but indifferent, as if truly unaffected.
Antonio tightened his grip on the flowers and swallowed, his voice trembling involuntarily. "If we don't try, how will we know if we can't go back?"
He didn't believe that Sarah no longer had feelings for him, nor did he believe their relationship could easily be shattered.
"What if I don't want to?" Sarah looked at Antonio, her voice still cold, but her eyes showed a hint of wavering.
Yes, how would they know if they could go back if they didn't try?
"Then I will pursue you again, until you want to be with me again," Antonio said, taking out an exquisitely crafted box from the flowers. Opening it slowly, he continued, "Do you remember this ring?"
Sarah, as if possessed, picked up the finely crafted ring. For a moment, she was dazed. Wasn't this the ring she had lost in that car accident five years ago?
Wasn't it lost already? No, this is new. It isn't the one from back then.
A sourness filled her heart as she realized that Antonio had it remade. All the memories from five years ago flooded her mind at that moment. They weren't like this before. How did everything change?
"This ring doesn't hold any meaning anymore…" Sarah choked, her voice trembling, tears welling up in her eyes.
Antonio reached out to wipe Sarah's tears. As the tears fell onto the back of his hand, they pained him deeply. "It does hold meaning, Sarah. Your actions now mean we can go back, and this ring has regained significance because of you."
Sarah pulled away from Antonio's hand, looking down at the ring in her hand. The initials G&J on the inner circle made her a little absent-minded.
"Let's start anew," Antonio said earnestly.
Sarah lowered her head, and Antonio raised her chin. Their gazes met, and he said, "Sarah, give me this chance, okay?"
She caught a glimpse of the handsome features in his eyes, seeing the deep plea hidden within. Without saying a word, she just slightly turned her head, avoiding his sincere and earnest gaze.
"I... I need some time."
