Chapter 618 If It Could Just Be Let Go
Sarah remained silent, with a teardrop sliding down the corner of her eye.
A child!
Antonio left her with several well-behaved children, each carrying a shadow of him. But even so, he ended up leaving her!
How could this be?
How could he leave her alone?
Bob could see the struggle and pain in her eyes, but at least she could listen to his words.
He secretly breathed a sigh of relief, continuing, "I know it's difficult for you, but let's try, okay? Let's try to let go of the past, move on, and start a new life."
He liked her, liked her brightness.
Seeing Sarah in such pain now was almost more unbearable than him dying.
"Let go of the past." These few words sounded so simple.
Sarah smiled bitterly and brokenly, her heart seemed to have turned into an endless desert. She was unable to see any hope and did not know when it would end.
If only she could let go of what had happened along with all the pain, that would be great.
And Benjamin had no idea what had happened to Sarah in this short day. He only knew that he was still upset about yesterday's visit to the Valencia family, not seeing Sarah, and being irritated by Bob's smug look.
After arriving at the company early in the morning, the foreboding aura around him made all the employees of Harrington Group tread carefully, afraid of inadvertently getting involved.
He entered the CEO's office, just loosening his tie in annoyance, when Daniel pushed the door open from outside and called out to him, "Mr. Harrington."
Benjamin yelled, "Get out!"
Benjamin's cold voice was devoid of any warmth. "From now on, don't disturb me unless it's something important."
Daniel replied, "Yes."
Daniel didn't dare say anything and silently retreated, feeling like he had been hit by a cannon since Mr. Harrington's visit to the Valencia family yesterday!
Benjamin sat in the large chair, looking gloomy and puzzled. He really couldn't understand what Sarah meant.
They hadn't been in contact since they returned from Pine Mountain, and he couldn't even see her face when he visited her in person.
Treating him like this must have made her feel accomplished!
While feeling frustrated, Benjamin also felt a hint of worry. Could something have happened to her?
Sarah had worked hard to secure this project before. Given her attitude towards work, she wouldn't just hand it over to Bob carelessly.
Thinking back to when she was sick on the mountain, he felt even more uneasy.
Could she still not be well?
But at the thought of Bob's smug look yesterday, he was angry again!
Bob even said he would go back and cook for her and the children.
No way!
Sarah, a person of such integrity, wouldn't possibly eat a meal cooked by a man unrelated to her. He must have gone to her house himself! Bob must have said it on purpose just to spite him!
While denying it in his heart, Benjamin could not help but imagine Sarah and Bob having dinner together.
Dim lighting with a conducive ambiance. Bob would probably set up flowers and candles as well.
Would Sarah be in a relationship with him?
Could she be swayed by a little wine and be charmed by Bob?
No way!
He absolutely wouldn't allow it!
Even though he couldn't figure out why he felt so anxious and irritated at the moment, Benjamin cursed inwardly, determined not to let them continue like this!
He just regretted not rushing to Sarah's house yesterday to stop their candlelit dinner!
However, Benjamin didn't know that Bob and Sarah hadn't actually had dinner together last night, and today, given Sarah's condition, it was even less likely.
Taking a few steps forward, he picked up the intercom phone on the desk, which connected to the secretary's office next door. It rang once, and Daniel's respectful voice came through, and greeted, "Mr. Harrington!"
Daniel was truly anxious at this moment. Mr. Harrington had just said not to be disturbed, so why was he being called so soon? Was he going to be scolded?
Benjamin cleared his throat expressionlessly, "Go to the villa where I'm staying now. There's a bottle of 80-year-old Romanée-Conti in the wine cellar. Bring it to me."
"Mr. Harrington, are you attending an event? Do you need me to arrange your schedule?" Daniel inquired, puzzled.
"Don't ask so many questions. It's not necessary!" Benjamin frowned, his voice as cold as water, and commanded, "Just go get the wine!"
Daniel felt a chill down his spine and immediately responded, "Yes, Mr. Harrington!"
After hanging up the phone, Benjamin went to the restroom in the lounge, took a shower, changed into a new designer suit, meticulously groomed his hair, and looked at his refreshed self in the mirror, finally satisfied.
He walked out of the office just as Daniel returned with the red wine, his breath slightly unsteady, panting as he said, "Mr. Harrington, here's the wine."
"Good." Benjamin took it from him, indifferently saying, "You don't need to follow me."
Daniel replied, "Okay."
Daniel stood in place, watching the numbers on the elevator descend, feeling a bit curious. Mr. Harrington had been listless and bored since yesterday, but now, after a shower and change of clothes, he seemed rejuvenated and full of spirit.
It seemed like he was going on a date.
Keeping an eye on the time, Benjamin coincidentally arrived at the Valencia family group's office by closing time and then drove to Sarah's house.
Getting out of the car and walking over, he immediately noticed the closed gate and the quietness of the entire villa, not a sound to be heard, indicating she hadn't returned yet.
She had yet to return, or had she gone out?
It made sense if Sarah wasn't there; she might have been working late at the office, but the other two children weren't there either.
Benjamin felt disappointed once again, picked up his phone to call Sarah, hesitated, and then put it back in his pocket.
Sarah had always been elusive despite his efforts.
He glanced at the dark rooms of the villa and took a deep breath.
Still undecided whether to leave, a cautious voice came from beside him, "Sir, are you looking for someone?"
Benjamin turned to look. The person speaking was holding scissors, dressed as a gardener, and likely working in this villa area.
He suppressed his emotions, calmly replying, "Yes."
The gardener looked him up and down, a bit puzzled, kindly saying, "It seems like something has happened to the owner of this house! I saw a young man come by earlier today and took the children away, and mentioned that they were going to the hospital."
Upon hearing 'something happened,' Benjamin's eyelid twitched, a sense of foreboding creeping over him. He cut in coldly and urgently, "Which hospital?!"
