Chapter 235 What are Husband and Wife Shy About?
Antonio winced in pain but didn't loosen his grip on her even a bit.
Gradually losing strength, she had no choice but to let Antonio hold her in his arms. The vibrant red marks on his shoulder and neck were visible through their clothes. Belatedly realizing how intense her bite had been, Sarah felt a momentary pang in her heart.
As the aircraft eased into a smooth flight path, Sarah remained still in his embrace, overcome by drowsiness, eventually drifting into sleep without realizing it.
Antonio glanced down at Sarah, nestled peacefully in his arms, her long hair gently cascading against her cheek and her eyelashes fluttering delicately, resembling a tranquil sleeping face.
Unable to resist, he tenderly stroked her soft cheek, his eyes reflecting a mix of complex and intense emotions. He lost track of time until the announcement for landing echoed through the plane once more.
The sound roused Sarah, and as she slowly opened her sleepy eyes, she met Antonio's gentle, affectionate gaze tinged with a hint of loneliness. Blinking in surprise, a moment of strange calmness settled between them.
Before long, the plane smoothly touched down at its destination—Yancheng Airport.
Exiting the airport, the two of them made their way to the finest hotel in Yancheng to check-in.
At the hotel reception, they gathered their belongings, preparing to book a room for their stay.
"Hello, sir and madam, how many rooms do you need?"
"Two."
"One."
Antonio and Sarah replied in unison, leaving the staff momentarily puzzled.
Antonio saw Sarah insisting on having two rooms, and his gaze darkened slightly. He turned to the hotel staff and explained, "One room. We're a married couple."
Upon hearing Antonio's explanation that they were a couple and seeing his handsome appearance, the hotel staff immediately believed him. They thought it must have been a lover's quarrel, which would naturally be resolved from the beginning till the end of the bed.
Thus, they promptly arranged their check-in and even gave Antonio a supportive look.
Antonio frowned ever so slightly, his gaze shifting to Sarah beside him, and his lips involuntarily curved upward.
Seeing how he handled the situation effortlessly, Sarah found herself at a loss for words and didn't know where to begin to explain to the hotel staff.
As she watched Antonio complete the check-in process and take the room key while holding their luggage, she suddenly felt a sense of panic and an inexplicable resistance.
"I'm not staying."
She stood still and refused to follow him upstairs, showing a determined attitude.
The onlooking hotel staff's eyes followed the couple, seemingly enjoying the spectacle.
Antonio halted his steps and turned to look at her from head to toe. "What's the matter? Feeling awkward? We're an old married couple who have had two children. What's there to be shy about?"
He raised an eyebrow slightly.
Sarah's body jerked back a bit as she looked at Antonio, somewhat speechless. How had she never noticed that he had such thick skin before?
Antonio seemed to notice the implicit meaning in her gaze as he looked at her with deep, intense eyes. "Are you ready to stand here and let everyone around us watch us fight?"
Upon hearing his words, Sarah also noticed the discreet glances from the people around them. With a sense of helplessness, Sarah ended up following Antonio to a room.
After a long journey, the sky gradually darkened, and coupled with the hot and dry air in Yancheng, Sarah felt even more sticky when she arrived in the room.
Seeing Antonio still busy with work, she decided to take a quick shower. She hurried into the bathroom, thinking of finishing the shower quickly so that she wouldn't be in there when Antonio finished his work. Given their non-speaking attitude, it would inevitably be awkward.
Little did she know, after finally showering and the discomfort in her body subsiding, she suddenly realized she had forgotten to bring in a change of clothes. She frowned as she couldn't just walk out naked.
At that moment, she really wanted to smash her head against the wall. How could she have rushed in without remembering such an important thing? Instead of going out completely exposed, should she ask Antonio to hand her some clothes?
While thinking about it, she noticed the white towel provided by the hotel in the bathroom. She could wrap herself in the towel and go out without alerting Antonio.
Immediately, she deftly wrapped the towel around her body, tightly gripping one corner of it. Quietly, she opened the bathroom door and tiptoed out. However, Sarah was still a bit worried that Antonio would see her in the towel.
Sneaking out of the bathroom, she hastily reached the luggage by the bed and grabbed her clothes. Just as she let out a breath of relief, she turned and bumped into a sturdy chest. Her heart skipped a beat, and she froze in place, clutching the towel and slowly raising her gaze.
In Antonio's deep eyes were flames of intense passion, and all he could see was her fair and delicate shoulders and neck.
