Chapter 858 Antonio's Surprise
These were things that Sarah and Antonio couldn't possibly know, but after the commotion just now, none of them felt like continuing their walk, so they headed home along the same path.
When they reached the door, Francis suddenly stopped. "Antonio, I just remembered there's some work I need to handle at the office. I have to go there for a bit. You guys go in first."
Sarah asked with concern, "Francis, aren't you still running a fever?"
"It's fine now, no worries."
Antonio reached out to feel his forehead, and the temperature had indeed gone down. "Alright, I'll take you to the office then. I don't have anything to do at home today anyway."
Francis hesitated for a moment, "Okay, let's go then. You come back soon."
Sarah waved at them, "Drive safely."
Antonio left a kiss on her forehead, "You go in and rest first. I'll come back and take you to the hospital to see Cynthia."
Cynthia's condition had completely stabilized, and it wouldn't be long before she could be discharged. Before that, they definitely needed to find a way to change her perspective.
Hearing this, Sarah immediately started to worry.
She walked back while thinking, planning in her mind. If nothing else worked, she could just play the pity card and cry in front of Cynthia.
But judging from the last time, Cynthia didn't seem to fall for that!
By the time Antonio returned after dropping off Francis, Sarah still hadn't come up with a solution. She sighed in the car, "What should I do? It feels like Cynthia won't accept you anytime soon, and I'm getting dragged into it too."
"Don't worry, I have a good idea," Antonio said.
Her eyes lit up, "What idea?"
But Antonio wouldn't say. He turned and smiled indulgently, "I have something prepared. You'll see when we get there."
Sarah fell silent.
She didn't believe Antonio could really have a good idea!
They soon arrived at the nursing home. At this time, Cynthia was eating fruit in her ward. The caregiver's phone suddenly rang, and she took it out to check before putting it away. "Ms. Young, let me put on some TV for you."
"Sure, I haven't watched in a while."
The caregiver seemed relieved and put on a popular TV show for her.
It hadn't been on for long when the screen suddenly flickered and switched to another channel, showing a familiar face. Cynthia was stunned, "Sarah?"
On the TV screen was a video of Sarah and Antonio, documenting their ups and downs over the years, including all the sweet and bitter moments.
This video was something Antonio had recently put together in his free time, collecting a lot of material from over the years to make a small video to cheer Sarah up. Unexpectedly, it was now being used for something else.
Cynthia stared at it for a while, then seemed to snap out of it, "Why are you showing this to me? Turn it off!"
These two were really something, even bribing the caregiver in her ward to pull this off!
The caregiver stood by, not moving.
Cynthia raised her voice, "Turn it off now!"
But Cynthia's usual gentle nature meant that even when she tried to shout, it didn't carry much authority.
The caregiver mustered up her courage and took a couple of steps forward, "Ms. Young, this video was personally edited by Mr. Valencia. Why don't you watch it first?"
Cynthia's attention was drawn to the content on the screen, and she said irritably, "What's there to see? Do they think a video can change my mind? Dream on!"
"But watching it doesn't hurt, does it?" The caregiver could tell that although Cynthia seemed angry, her eyes were glued to the screen.
That meant she probably did want to understand Sarah's past.
The caregiver quietly poured a glass of water and brought it over, "Ms. Young, Mrs. Valencia is in a difficult position too. Why not try to understand? If you still think Mr. Valencia is no good, you can kick him out then. What do you say?"
Even as an outsider, the caregiver could see that Sarah and Antonio were truly in love.
Cynthia glared at her but didn't argue further.
Sarah was her only family now. Honestly, she did want the best for Sarah.
When she first found out Sarah was with Antonio, Cynthia was furious, blaming her for being with Harold's son and thinking she had made a foolish decision.
But after calming down, she wondered if she was too one-sided.
She had also heard that Antonio wasn't raised by the Harringtons and had personally sent Harold to prison. This made her feel a bit more sympathetic.
From another perspective, being Harold's son was quite pitiful.
At this moment, watching the video of their journey, Cynthia couldn't help but feel moved. It was the first time she realized how much these two had suffered to be together.
The caregiver, standing by the bed, glanced at Cynthia's reddened eyes and started to tear up herself, "Ms. Young, you see. Anyone can tell how much Mr. and Mrs. Valencia love each other from their experiences."
"They've come a long way to be together. If you still don't approve, can you really bear it?"
Cynthia turned to look at the caregiver, who was wiping her nose, and handed her a tissue.
"Who said I can't bear it!" She blinked a couple of times, hardening her heart, "Isn't it their own fault? If they didn't want to be together, they wouldn't have to go through all this trouble!"
Inside, the two started chatting. Outside the ward, Sarah watched through the window, both surprised and touched. "When did you prepare all this? I had no idea."
Antonio put his arm around her shoulder, "I wanted to surprise you."
He kissed her forehead, "Do you like it?"
Sarah leaned on his shoulder, her voice slightly choked, "Seeing all this now, it feels surreal. We've been through so much together, and in the end, you're still by my side."
Many people gave up on each other at the first misunderstanding. How lucky were they?
She suddenly felt very grateful to Antonio for never letting go of her hand through all the hardships.
Antonio also thought of many past events, his smile sincere. He held her hand, gently massaging it, then interlaced their fingers.
"We're destined to be together. These challenges are insignificant. No matter how many times we go around in circles, you can only be mine." Antonio said.
Sarah pouted and glared at him, "What about you?"
Antonio took the opportunity to kiss her lips, full of affection, "I'm yours too."
