Chapter 924 I Give Him Everything

The doctor looked at the severely split wound, frowning as he treated her, and lectured, "What could be more important than your own body? The wound is already this bad, and you endured it for a whole day. You really are...!"

Despite his words, the doctor couldn't bring himself to say anything harsher.

Sarah could even give up her own kidney. Enduring a split wound to keep it a secret didn't seem that surprising.

The doctor sighed heavily and continued to disinfect her wound.

Sarah's forehead was covered in fine sweat, and her face was an unhealthy pale.

She forced a slight smile, "It's okay, doctor. I understand. It's just a bit painful, and the wound is only bleeding slightly. It won't get infected."

They were talking and didn't notice someone entering the room.

Bob's footsteps were light, but his mood was heavier than ever.

He looked at Sarah on the hospital bed, her clothes half-lifted as the doctor disinfected the wound on her waist. The scar on her once smooth skin was particularly noticeable.

Seeing that, Bob's heart tightened unexpectedly.

The doctor finished the final touches and, while packing up, reminded her, "Mrs. Valencia, you must not disturb the wound again. If it gets infected now, the consequences will be unimaginable!"

"Okay, thank you, doctor."

After thanking the doctor, Sarah noticed Bob standing nearby.

She was startled, "Bob, why are you back again?"

How long had he been standing there? Did he see everything just now?

Bob's eyes were red, staring at her without blinking, "I also want to know why I'm still here."

It was because he couldn't stop worrying about Sarah. He couldn't bear to leave. He thought that after this departure, they might not see each other for a long time.

Thinking about Sarah's casual invitation to dinner, Bob set aside his pride and came back to ask if he could really have that last meal.

But he didn't expect to see such a suffocating scene!

Antonio had a kidney transplant, and Sarah's incision was on her lower back!

What did that mean?

He thought the kidney was from a donor. He didn't expect it to be her kidney!

The doctor sensed something was wrong and, worried that Bob might be a bad person, looked at Sarah with a questioning gaze, "Mrs. Valencia, who is this...?"

Sarah forced herself to calm her racing heart and shook her head, "Thank you, doctor. You can go ahead. He's my friend. He means no harm."

"Then you two talk. If you feel uncomfortable, press the bell." The doctor and nurse left.

Bob stood by the bed, unable to contain his anger. He clenched his fists and punched the wall beside him, nearly growling, "Why! Why did you do this? Why hurt yourself?"

Sarah was startled by his voice and frowned, "Bob, can you calm down first?"

"How do you expect me to calm down?"

She donated a kidney to Antonio! Didn't she just have a baby? How did she manage that? Did she not care about her life?

"You've done so much for him. Does he know? Is he grateful? Antonio doesn't deserve what you've done for him!" Bob snapped.

Sarah lay on the bed, her small face looking fragile and pale under the light, as if she could disappear at any moment.

Bob's breathing became more erratic, and a strange anger rose in his heart.

He hated that she didn't take care of herself! All for a man like Antonio who didn't deserve it!

What about him? Where did he lose? He could cherish her more than Antonio! He would never let her suffer any grievance or harm!

Bob carefully touched her shoulder, making her look at him, "Don't be with him anymore, okay? Don't hurt yourself for him. Consider me? I can protect you now and make you happy being yourself!"

The more he spoke, the more he felt Antonio didn't deserve her love. He just wanted to protect Sarah and not let her get hurt again.

Sarah saw the pain in his eyes and didn't react for a moment.

That moment of hesitation seemed to give Bob hope.

A glimmer of light flashed in his eyes, and he leaned in to kiss her, cautiously yet insistently. "I can love you more than he does!"

"Bob!" Sarah snapped back to reality, looking at Bob in front of her with horror. He seemed possessed, pressing her shoulder tightly. "Are you crazy? Get away from me! I will never be with you!"

Just before Bob forcibly kissed her lips, Sarah slapped him hard, her breath still shaky. "Bob, don't make me hate you!"

She didn't want to hate him. But he did something that made her hate him.

Bob's face was turned to the side by the slap, and he stayed in that position, his face shrouded in shadow, hiding his pained and regretful expression.

After a long time, he spoke in a hoarse voice. "I'm sorry."

He had acted impulsively, unable to control himself. "If you feel better, you can slap me a few more times. I'm really sorry for what I just did."

It took Sarah a while to calm down. Initially, she thought it would be hard to explain if he found out, but now, after his outburst, her anger surged. "I appreciate your feelings, but that doesn't give you the right to offend me. I've made it very clear to you. I hope you can find your own happiness in the future, but that person will never be me!"

"And Antonio is my husband. Whatever I do for him is my choice. I don't need or want him to know. This is my decision, and I hope you can respect it!"

She feared that if Bob went crazy and told Antonio, it would be over.

Bob's lips trembled slightly, and after a while, he asked hoarsely, "Do you love him that much?"

"Yes." Sarah's gaze was firm, "I love him. If one day he needs it, I can give him my other kidney, my heart, everything. This is my decision, and it has nothing to do with anyone else."

Bob's eyes froze for a moment, "You..."

He wanted to say something but didn't know what to say.

She was right.

It was her decision. Even if she loved Antonio with her life, it had nothing to do with him. But such love didn't belong to him.

Sarah turned her head to the side, closed her eyes, and said, "Bob, you should go. Thank you for coming to see me, but we are not meant to be. I have Antonio and the kids. If one day you can let go of your obsession, maybe we can be friends then. But as you are now, we can only be strangers."
