Chapter 431 I Wonder How He Is Doing?

After finishing all editing, the private detective sent it over to Antonio.

Meanwhile, Sarah was still strolling around the mall with Brady, completely unaware of what had happened.

"Bro, I think these shoes would suit you. Wanna try them on?"

Brady was already holding numerous bags, most of which contained his own clothes and shoes.

"Sarah, I've bought so much already. I have enough outfits to last for a month." he replied.

"That won't do. One outfit should match one pair of shoes. Come on, give it a try."

Brady had essentially raised Sarah, so naturally, she wanted the best for her brother now that she had the means.

Brady shook his head repeatedly and pulled Sarah away with one hand. "We've been shopping for so long. Let me take you out for a meal, sis."

Only then did Sarah realize that she was hungry. "Sure, let's go have something delicious. How about that Sichuan restaurant?"

"Okay."

Brady looked lovingly at his sister and went to the restaurant with her.

While waiting for the food to arrive, he took out a photo from his phone and showed it to Sarah. The photo depicted an exquisite jewelry box.

"Guess what good thing I stumbled upon." he said.

"What is it?" Sarah was confused. "Didn't you already give me a gift yesterday?"

"This is different. Take a guess what's inside the box."

Sarah was even more perplexed now. "Could it be animal teeth you found during a rescue mission?"

Brady burst into laughter, as only Sarah would come up with such a thought.

"How is that even possible?" Brady shook his head helplessly. "I found this at a secondhand shop in a foreign mall. You'll definitely like it."

The more Brady spoke, the more curious Sarah became. "What is it exactly? Stop keeping me in suspense."

"See for yourself."

She quickly glanced at the next photo, but what she saw instantly stunned her. "How can it be?"

Brady took a sip of water. "I told you that you would like it. However, there are still some procedures pending for this bracelet, so it'll be a few days before it can be shipped back. Let me show it to you first and satisfy your eyes."

It was a handmade bracelet.

Brady always remembered his mother wearing a similar bracelet when she found out she was pregnant with Sarah. Naturally, the bracelet ended up on her wrist when Sarah was born, but it was lost during a trip later on.

"I was quite shocked when I saw it because I thought it was your bracelet. But then again, it's unlikely for this bracelet to be found abroad. Take a look and see if it's identical."

Sarah's heart raced as she stared at the bracelet's image. Her eyes were a bit sour, and she nodded heavily. "Really alike. I thought it was my bracelet."

Although it wasn't the same one that had been with her since childhood, she treasured it immensely.

Previously, Brian, as Alex's CEO, had given her a gemstone that held the same significance as this bracelet, both being things left by their mother.

Brady understood the importance of the bracelet to both Sarah and their mother. He recalled their childhood, when he may not have been very sensible, but he recognized their mother's fondness for the bracelet.

Whenever he played with it, he took care not to soil it. If he accidentally dirtied it, he would wash it with water, even considering using a brush. However, their mother would quickly intervene, her face betraying her anxiety.

Eventually, the bracelet was passed down to Sarah. Initially, she was too young to fully appreciate it, but their mother gently reminded her of its significance.

Sarah also remembered the past, saying, "Do you remember when I buried the bracelet in the flowerpot for our treasure hunt game?"

"Of course, I remember. Not only did you pull out Mom's flowers, but you also made the bracelet dirty. Mom was both anxious and angry."

Brady chuckled as he reminisced about the scene from their youth. In those days, they felt young and always seemed to court disaster. He had even entertained the idea of running away with Sarah, until their mother caught wind of their unusual behavior as they packed their bags, promptly thwarting their escape plan.

Sarah's tears came out as she laughed. "Yeah, why were we so foolish back then? I remember you were crying while packing your bags, saying that if you got one mouthful of food, I would too. Even if you had to beg, you would take care of me."

"You also said that after we ran away, you would only eat one meal a day to avoid causing trouble for me."

The two reminisced about their childhood memories while joking around, but their eyes unknowingly became sour, and their eye sockets slightly reddened.

"Sometimes I really miss our childhood, miss the time we spent with Mom."

Brady fell silent for a moment.

"Yeah, when Mom was still alive, those were the happiest times for both of us." Brady held Sarah's hand. "Sarah, it's all my fault. I made you lose Mom's most precious thing."

"How can that be blamed on you?" Sarah quickly comforted him.

"Under such a natural disaster, it's fortunate that both of us could come back alive."

In the third year following their mother's passing, the Miller family decided to embark on a trip. Initially, Sarah and Brady weren't slated to join, but due to their family's insistence, they tagged along.

As luggage exceeded the limit, they had to enlist Sarah and Brady as porters.

Throughout the journey, both Sarah and Brady shouldered the burden of bags and observed their surroundings, missing out on the joy of tourism.

Thankfully, both Sarah and Brady remained optimistic and undeterred. Amidst the rare moments of respite, they stumbled upon numerous intriguing sights. It was during that time that Brady conceived the idea of exploring the world.

"If I could have protected you better, we wouldn't have encountered such things."

Brady felt a twinge of guilt as he broached the subject.

During their trip, the Miller family was adamant about visiting the snowy mountain. Sarah and Brady found themselves obliged to lug their belongings, don heavy attire, and accompany the Millers to the snowy peak.

Unexpectedly, halfway through their journey, they were caught in an avalanche. Brady and Sarah became separated, and it was during that event that Sarah lost her bracelet.

"It was really scary at the time, but you accompanied me back to look for it later."

Sarah still remembered the scene at that time.

Countless snowflakes fell from the mountain in an instant, engulfing everything around them. There was only endless white snow in Sarah's vision.

She remembered that at that time, they also encountered a boy who was unfortunately buried in the snow.

'I wonder what happened to him later…'
