Chapter 107 Finding the Suspicious Child

The next day, all the big media players were buzzing about the charity gala from the night before, but not a peep about the scandal.

Philip had pulled some strings to keep it hush-hush, but he couldn't wipe the memories from the guests' minds.

Lisa still ended up being the villain in the eyes of the high society folks, and Philip, who brought her to the event, took a hit to his rep too.

For a while, last night's drama was the hot gossip among the elites.

Right now, in Philip's swanky villa, you could hear a woman bawling her eyes out in the study.

The maids either rolled their eyes or felt grossed out, and some even enjoyed her misery. They didn't know the deets, but they all kept their distance from the study and got on with their chores.

Every time Lisa showed up at Philip's place, she acted like she owned it, bossing the maids around.

She wasn't even hitched to Antonio yet, but she already thought she was the queen bee. If she did marry Antonio, the maids figured their lives would be hell.

But with Philip backing her, what could they do?

Philip had been in a foul mood since he got back last night, clearly pissed off. Lisa showed up early in the morning, crying and apologizing, clearly having messed up big time.

Could they hope Philip, in his rage, would kick Lisa to the curb?

In the study, Lisa stood there, head down, across the big mahogany desk, tears streaming down her face.

Even in this mess, Lisa didn't forget to doll up. She had makeup on to look all pitiful, and it was waterproof. "Mr. Valencia, you gotta believe me. I didn't think it would go down like this! I just wanted to check on Leon entering the room to confirm the plan, but I got knocked out. When I woke up, I was already..."

As Lisa spoke, the memory of last night hit her hard again.

It was already mortifying enough to be caught by so many nobles getting it on with another guy, and Leon turned out to be a gross, ugly, freckled fat dude!

After Lisa got home last night, she puked her guts out, then rushed into the bathroom and scrubbed herself for hours, almost peeling her skin off, but she still felt filthy.

The thought tormented her all night, and as soon as dawn broke, she got up to get ready and rushed over to explain to Philip.

Feeling nauseous again, Lisa forced herself to hold back the discomfort and kept crying, "It must be Sarah. Only you and I knew about this plan. Sarah must have found out and set me up!"

She wiped her tears, a hint of malice flashing in her eyes. 'The plan was perfect last night. How did Sarah escape? Damn Sarah, daring to make me suffer such humiliation. I will never let it go!' she swore.

But for now, the most important thing was to calm Philip down. She had already lost Ryan; she couldn't afford to lose Philip too.

A glint of determination flashed in Lisa's eyes as she looked up at the grim-faced Philip. "Otherwise, why was Sarah conveniently in the room across from us? She must have been hiding there on purpose to laugh at us! Mr. Valencia, she's declaring war on you!"

Sure enough, Philip's face turned livid, and his wrinkles trembled.

Lisa secretly smirked and kept pushing, "Sarah, relying on Antonio's support, completely disregards you. It's outrageous!"

Philip, fuming, grabbed the cane beside him and struck the edge of the desk hard. "She must be mistaken. As long as I'm alive, the Valencia family is still under my control!"

Did she think that by seducing Antonio, she could continue to be Mrs. Valencia?

Because of Sarah, the Valencia family had been dragged through the mud repeatedly. She had to be dealt with quickly!

Seeing her goal achieved, Lisa quickly moved closer and said, "You're right. The head of the Valencia family is, of course, you!"

Then she put on a pitiful look again. "It's a pity Antonio is bewitched by Sarah. But I'm on your side. You have to believe me. Last night, knowing you wanted to set up Sarah, how could I have gone to room 888 myself?"

Besides, she was gonna be Mrs. Valencia. No way she'd even glance at a gross fat dude like Leon!

"Enough!" Philip slammed the desk, his eyes blazing with anger as he glared at Lisa.

He'd set up the perfect trap last night, but Lisa had blown it. She was totally useless!

If it weren't for the fact that she was Ryan's biological mother...

Philip let out a heavy sigh, feeling both pissed and disappointed, his face darkening to the extreme.

Seeing this, Lisa was so scared she shivered and took a step back.

Then she heard Philip coldly say, "A woman as filthy as you is not allowed to enter the Valencia family cemetery in the future!"

Lisa couldn't believe her ears for a moment, but seeing Philip's resolute attitude, tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

She was terrified and sad, her face pale, biting her lower lip silently, not daring to make a sound.

At this moment, Philip's butler arrived, walked past Lisa, and went straight to the desk. "Mr. Valencia, our people checked the hotel's surveillance footage. All the cameras on the floor got wrecked last night, but some others caught two shady figures, a grown-up and a kid. However, the footage only showed their backs, not their faces, so we can't ID them yet."

Hearing this, Lisa suddenly looked up and excitedly said, "It must be Sarah's people!"

She knew it. Sarah couldn't have ruined her and Philip's plan alone.

Sarah must have had help!

Philip ignored Lisa, his eyes suddenly darkening. He was already facing the window, making it even harder to read his emotions.

After a moment, Philip coldly said, "Find out who those two people are."

Sarah attended the gala with help. Could she have anticipated his move?

Moreover, one of the suspicious individuals was a kid?

This matter was definitely not simple!

With the drama winding down, Lisa dared not stir up trouble again. In the following period, Antonio's villa was particularly calm.

Sarah woke up the morning after the incident. As Antonio had expected, when she found herself in Antonio's room, her face immediately turned sour, and she stubbornly returned to her own room.

Antonio felt a bit helpless, but seeing that she was injured, he felt guilty and let her be. As long as she didn't leave the villa, it was fine.

Sarah was still fuming. To avoid running into Antonio, she stayed in her room to rest.

During this time, the maids brought her a lot of food, and she accepted it all.

She knew Antonio had arranged it, but there was no need to make things difficult for herself.

Besides, the current peace was just a temporary truce. There would definitely be tough battles ahead, and she had to stay in top condition.

These days, Harper stayed with Sarah, chatting with her for a while but not staying long or clinging to her like before.

Harper knew Sarah needed rest. As a sensible and well-behaved kid, she didn't want to worry Sarah.

That afternoon, Harper, as usual, went to Sarah's room to play for a while, then bounced downstairs to look for some afternoon tea.

She went to the kitchen, heading straight for her "snack stash," but after turning it upside down, she couldn't find her favorite durian-flavored popcorn.

"Did I finish it so quickly?" Harper felt a bit deflated, her little face falling.

Sarah needed rest and couldn't take her to the store, and Antonio...

Considering how he scolded her last time, she didn't want to go to Antonio!

In resignation, Harper grabbed a bag of chips and then opened the fridge.

The strawberry milk was down to the last can, and it was on the top shelf. Even though she stood on tiptoe and stretched out her little hand, she couldn't reach it. "Why put it so high?"

Usually, someone else would help her, but today the kitchen was empty, so Harper had to do it herself.

Rolling up her sleeves, Harper was about to move a chair when she suddenly heard the sound of furniture scraping against the floor behind her.

She turned around suspiciously, her big eyes narrowing.

Why was it him again?
