Chapter 318 Serene is Mistaken for a Caregiver

"Yes. It's a recent addition to his regime. It's to help Mr. Jerrett recover sooner. Mrs. Jerrett has already agreed to it."

After listening to the nurse's exolanation, Sarah did not ask further questions. If even Serene agreed, who was she to interfere?

In no time, Serene pushed the semi-conscious Kevin back to his ward.

"Sarah! Why did you come so early?" Serene was visibly startled when she saw Sarah.

"Antonio needed to get to the company early, so I just came along. Is something the matter?" Sarah couldn't understand why Serene seemed so surprised to see her.

"Oh, I see. I'll come personally to thank you once my father gets better. Thanks to you and Antonio, he only recognizes you now. I really appreciate your help," Serene quickly expressed her gratitude, masking her unease.

Sarah didn't press further since Serene had been acting strangely for a while now. "No need to be so polite. I haven't heard anything about Mr. Jerrett undergoing any rehabilitation treatment. What is it for?"

Serene's expression became slightly unnatural, and she awkwardly chuckled. "It's just a rehabilitation treatment to prevent my father's blood vessels from getting blocked. There's no need for you to worry, Sarah."

"Oh." Sarah felt that Serene was getting tense, perhaps because she had asked too many questions. So she didn't probe any further.

Serene relaxed internally. "Sarah, I'll go talk to the doctor about my father's condition. Can you stay here and take care of things?"After leaving the ward, she didn't go to the doctor's office but instead left the hospital and went to a psychological therapy-related medical institution.

As for the so-called rehabilitation treatment that Serene mentioned, it was nothing more than an attempt to use hypnosis to make Kevin stop mistaking Sarah for his daughter.

"Ms. Jerrett, why are you here?" The doctor looked at Serene with surprise. "Did something happen to your father's health?"

"Not at the moment. Don't worry. Even if something did happen, I wouldn't blame you," Serene sat on the sofa with a cold face. "I came here to ask you when he can recover fully. If it's not possible for him to fully recover in a short period, then increase the intensity of his treatment."

"Ms. Jerrett, as I've told you before, what I do here is hypnosis, not treatment. Hypnosis only temporarily suppresses the nervous system and cannot completely restore him. Moreover, it easily damages brain function. I do not recommend increasing the intensity," the doctor earnestly advised.

"I suggest a gradual approach to hypnotism. This way, it won't pose a threat to his life, and it will help your father forget Sarah."

"I don't have that much time," Serene sternly retorted. "I want him to forget Sarah in a short period and stop him from mistaking her for his daughter."

"Even if he doesn't remember me, I can't let Sarah have such a close relationship with my father every day!" Serene's eyes brimmed with hatred. She would rather choose this method, risking Kevin's life, than allow her own life to be affected...

She was the Jerrett heiress and the J&K Group's future owner. It couldn't be that Sarah!

The doctor looked at Serene, struggling to find words of consolation, but in the end, he couldn't. After all, she was their important client and Kevin’s biological daughter. If she didn't care, why should he care about it?

After making all the arrangements, Serene returned to the hospital.

Kevin was casually chatting with Sarah.

However, the content of their conversation was different from before, no longer revolving around their daily lives as father and daughter. They were discussing other topics.

"Teacher Iris is the most serious professor in college. I have her class tomorrow but haven't finished researching her topic yet."

Kevin frowned and seemed disappointed. "Are you worried about getting scolded in her class tomorrow, or are you worried about missing lunch because of it?"

Sarah smiled knowingly as Kevin was trying to deceive her. Her eyes were full of understanding.

Kevin laughed, “I really can't hide anything from you. Each time she teaches, it's so intense, and she always has legitimate reasons. We can't refute any of it."

Confused, Serene stood by the door. Just then, the attending doctor passed by, and she quickly pulled him aside. "What's going on with my dad? How did the conversation suddenly turn to school and lunch? What happened?"

"Ms. Jerrett, don't worry. It's a symptom of senile dementia. He's sometimes clear-headed, sometimes confused, and experiences temporal and spatial disorientation. It's possible that at this moment, Mr. Jerrett believes he's still in his school years. There's no major issue."

Serene still couldn't fully relax. After bidding farewell to the doctor, she immediately called the hypnotherapist and informed him about what she had just discovered.

"I see, Ms. Jerrett. This might indeed be related to the after-effect of hypnosis."

"What should we do? What if he reveals something that exposes us?"

Serene was extremely worried, especially if Kevin remembered things from his youth.

"Don't worry about that. Mr. Jerrett's age and symptoms of senile dementia will prevent him from fully recollecting even under hypnosis, believing himself to be much younger. I can assure you of that."

"Can you guarantee it? If anything goes wrong, I'll shut down your hospital."

"Ms. Jerrett, rest assured. I will address this issue when you bring Mr. Jerrett for hypnotherapy tomorrow. There will be no unexpected incidents."

Upon hearing the doctor's affirmative answer, Serene finally felt a little relieved.

Returning to the ward again, she heard laughter from Kevin and Sarah. A tinge of jealousy flickered across her face, but she quickly regained composure.

"What are you chatting about? You sound so happy. Can I join and listen?" Serene sat directly beside Kevin, leaning on his shoulder as if declaring her sovereignty in a subtle way.

To her surprise, Kevin swiftly moved aside, glowering at Serene beside him. "How dare you, a mere caregiver, have no sense of boundaries? Who allowed you to sit next to me? Don't come tomorrow!"
