Chapter 77 I Got Your Man
In the dining room, the Miller fam was gathered 'round the table, with Sarah's dad, John, giving her the ol' intense stare.
Time had done a number on his face, but you could still catch a glimpse of his younger charm.
Especially his eyes, man, they still had that spark, even if they were a bit worn out.
Right now, his eyes had this hint of heartache, but who knows if it was real or just for show. "Sarah, I can't believe you're really alive."
Lisa was on John's right, all dolled up but not as flashy as usual.
She gave John a slight smile, playing the good daughter role. "Dad, she really is Sarah. Sarah didn't die; she's back."
John got a bit emotional, his wrinkles doing a little dance. "Sarah, where have you been all these years? Must've been rough out there alone, huh?"
Sarah sneered inside, her pretty eyes cold as ice.
John was such a hypocrite!
He used to beat and scold her and Brady along with Sharon, Lisa, and Lusa, and now he was acting all caring.
Sarah couldn't figure out why John didn't like her, but he should've liked Brady, right?
But nope, he didn't like Brady either, instead doting on those two non-biological daughters.
John was seriously messed up!
Seeing John's face ticked Sarah off, so she looked away, her cold expression screaming resistance.
John looked a bit embarrassed, and Lisa quickly tried to smooth things over.
At that moment, Sharon, sitting to John's left, sighed.
She was in her fifties but still looked good, definitely a beauty back in the day.
Now, her face was all gloomy, brows full of sorrow, and she sighed like she was in a soap opera. "Sarah is back, and the family can finally reunite, but Lusa..."
She started sobbing halfway through.
Seeing this, John held Sharon's hand tenderly, wanting to say something but just letting out a heavy sigh.
He deeply regretted Lusa's situation, but there was nothing he could do.
Sharon looked up and saw Antonio's gloomy face, her pupils trembling slightly before quickly changing her tone. "But I get it, Lusa brought it on herself, no one else to blame."
Despite her words, she glanced at Sarah, her hand under the table clenched tightly. 'This eyesore Sarah actually didn't die! Why'd she come back to ruin Lisa's wedding and now cause Lusa's death! She must've come back for revenge and to fight for the family inheritance!' she thought.
Sarah frowned, her delicate face showing undisguised disgust.
Sharon was as fake as ever!
Too bad John couldn't see the malice behind Sharon's sweet act.
Lisa, who had been watching everyone's expressions, naturally noticed Antonio's displeasure.
She quickly picked up her teacup, trying to ease the tension.
She looked apologetically at Sarah, "Sarah, what Lusa did was messed up. I'm sorry for her. We're family, and Lusa's been dealt with. Can you move on?"
The temperature in Sarah's eyes dropped even more, her face full of disdain.
Did they really think she didn't know their true colors?
After tormenting her and Brady as kids, then framing Brady, and Lusa almost causing Harper's death. With such deep-seated grudges, where does Lisa get the nerve to tell her not to hold a grudge?
So Sarah acted like she hadn't heard, completely ignoring her.
Seeing her cold response, Lisa's smile froze, anger bubbling up inside. 'Damn Sarah, making me look bad on purpose!'
If Antonio and John weren't here, she would've definitely taught Sarah a lesson and avenged Lusa!
Antonio glanced at the gloomy-faced Sarah and finally spoke, but his words were cold. "She doesn't drink tea."
This made Lisa even more embarrassed, her hand holding the teacup just hanging there.
Sarah was also pretty stunned.
Yeah, it was true; tea always messed with her stomach, but hardly anyone knew that. She figured he'd forgotten ages ago.
Whatever, it didn't matter.
Sarah's face went back to its usual calm, coldly scanning the faces around her.
She just wanted these people out of her life, but they wouldn't let her be.
They acted all apologetic and family-reunion-y, but she knew they had other plans.
So, Sarah barely touched her food.
Just being here was bad enough, let alone eating with the people she despised most.
Right then, Lisa leaned over and plopped a piece of meat on her plate. "Sarah, it's been ages since you had a home-cooked meal. You must miss it. Try this."
Before Sarah could say no, Lisa “accidentally” knocked over the teacup.
Sarah couldn't dodge in time, and tea spilled all over her pants.
"Oh no, sorry," Lisa exclaimed, her face full of fake apology.
Sarah frowned; she knew Lisa did it on purpose.
She couldn't be bothered with Lisa and quickly got up to head to the restroom.
Seeing this, Antonio frowned slightly, about to get up when Lisa stopped him, "Antonio, let me handle it. I'll find Sarah some clothes to change into."
Antonio said nothing.
Lisa urged the others to keep eating and quickly followed Sarah.
As she turned, a glint of calculation flashed in her eyes, and a scheming smile appeared on her lips.
Sarah had just come out of the restroom when she saw Lisa standing outside.
Lisa was here to stir up trouble again.
She tried to bypass Lisa and leave.
But Lisa, feeling ignored, got instantly pissed and grabbed Sarah.
"Let go, what do you want!" Sarah was super irritated, feeling a strong aversion to Lisa's touch.
She forcefully shook off Lisa's hand, but Lisa suddenly closed the door, blocking the exit.
Sarah crossed her arms, her tone annoyed, "Get out of the way!"
Lisa glared at Sarah viciously, saying, "Sarah, who do you think you are! You put Lusa through hell, and I still have to say sorry to you! And your attitude? You purposely humiliated me in front of everyone!"
Sarah was speechless. She really couldn't understand Lisa's twisted logic. How did she make Lusa suffer? It was clearly Lusa's own fault!
"Lisa, listen up. Stay away from my family. If you try anything again, you'll regret it!""
Hearing this, the hatred in Lisa's eyes deepened. "How dare you say that! Since you disappeared, why did you come back and have Harper ruin my wedding with Antonio!"
If it weren't for Harper, she would’ve already married Antonio!
Then she remembered something and suddenly smiled smugly. "Even if you tried so hard, do you think you can laugh for long?"
Sarah frowned and asked, "What do you mean?"
Lisa didn't answer but said, "Do you recognize this place?"
Sarah hadn't had time to look earlier, but now she noticed this was the room she had lived in for over ten years, though the decor and furnishings had changed to a flashy, ostentatious style.
"This was your room, oh no, it's my room now," Lisa said proudly.
However, Sarah didn't care at all. She had no attachment to this house. "It's just a room. If you like it, take it. I don't care!"
"I've gained more than just a room," Lisa continued to provoke her, "I've also got Antonio."
Sarah was speechless!
Then she thought of something and chuckled. "Really? But that's not what I saw."
Lisa's face changed, and Sarah looked at her with a mocking smile, pretending to recall. "I remember that day, you said Antonio hadn't come over for a long time and begged him to stay for dinner."
Lisa frowned, what did Sarah mean?
She quickly recalled and then froze, looking at Sarah in disbelief, "That maid that day was you!"
