Jerrett's expression instantly turned cold, and his previous affection for Sarah disappeared completely. "So, you are Mr. Valencia's wife. Thank you for today's matter. I will have someone send a thank-you gift to your residence another day," he said, as he protected Serene by his side. He proudly squeezed Serene's hand, creating a clear boundary between family and outsiders in Sarah's presence.
Witnessing this scene, Sarah couldn't help but feel a wave of annoyance. "It's nothing, just a small matter. No need to worry about it. I have something to attend to, so I'll take my leave," she replied calmly, shaking her head in rejection.
When Sarah returned to the private room, Antonio noticed that her expression wasn't pleasant. Her long eyelashes cast shadows on her cheeks. It seemed like her mood had worsened since before.
Furrowing his eyebrows slightly, he picked up Sarah's bag and handed it to her, showing concern. "Did something happen? Why were you gone for so long?"
Recalling what had just happened with Jerrett protecting Serene, Sarah's mind replayed that scene. She had helped him with good intentions, yet he protected Serene as if she were a villain...
Feeling upset, Sarah realized she hadn't had anyone protecting her like that since her mother passed away. Her gaze lifted suddenly. "You mentioned before that you would help me investigate my biological father. Any progress?"
Antonio didn't know what was going on with her, but seeing her still feeling down, he thought that her reminiscing about the difficult five years she had experienced recently made her miss her family.
