Chapter 581 Bitter and Heartbreaking
Sarah felt his cold gaze and looked at Alex in confusion.
Alex didn't answer but took out a velvet jewelry box from his pocket.
"This is an antique ring that our CEO asked me to give you. He saw it at an auction a few days ago and thought it would suit you," he said.
"Wow, he didn't even tell me. Is this a surprise?" Sarah showed a hint of anticipation, pushing all her previous doubts aside. Naturally, she took the jewelry box without any intention of refusing.
Lately, Brian wanted to buy her something. At first, he would report it to her in advance. But since Sarah always refused, Brian learned to act first and report later.
Sarah thought it was fine. After all, he doesn't lack this money. She won't keep refusing him and will just dampen his enthusiasm.
Sofia leaned over and glanced at it. "It's really good quality."
"It's beautiful. I like it. He really understands me." Sarah joyfully slipped the ring onto her finger without even telling Alex, letting him help convey her satisfaction or anything.
Benjamin watched from the side, his grip on the spoon becoming tighter and tighter.
To actually give such a meaningful gift like a ring. What does this mean?
This was far from an ordinary cooperative relationship. It looked extremely intimate.
Sarah was truly impressive!
Benjamin didn't know that the CEO Alex had mentioned was actually Sarah's son.
All he knew was that the discontent in his heart was getting worse.
Suddenly, he sat up a bit, pretending to be calm as he spoke, "By the way, do you want to participate in the Pine Mountain project?"
Sarah, who was still discussing the ring with the other two, immediately became attracted to the conversation. She put the jewelry box aside and turned her head in surprise, "Of course I do!"
This news was like a timely rain, diluting all the bitterness and sadness she had felt earlier. It was truly an unexpected joy!
For Valencia Inc., this was more than just a project—it was an opportunity to contribute to the transformation and development of a city, which would greatly enhance the company's positive image.
Benjamin glanced at the two people left hanging on the side, finally relieved of the discomfort in his heart. He raised his eyes and said, "The Harrington Group's main business is still in the south, so it is necessary to find a partner for such a large project like Pine Mountain."
Sarah immediately became enthusiastic and turned directly to him. "Mr. Harrington, we have already collaborated once before, and I believe another collaboration would be even more successful."
The word "successful collaboration" pleased Benjamin. He smirked, casting a glance at Alex, and said, "Well, I think it's a good idea too."
Sarah's smile was bright. "Then let's discuss this matter in the future and work on it together?"
"Sure."
With these words, the two of them reached a verbal agreement without even considering Isabella Moore's opinion.
Of course, Benjamin had the final say in the Harrington Group. Although Isabella Moore held the title of Vice President, she had no power to influence Benjamin's decisions.
However, if they were to sign the contract next, Valencia Inc. would become a part of the Pine Mountain project.
Doesn't Miss Miller have to meet Benjamin frequently?
Isabella Moore felt uneasy as she clutched her sleeve. She had a bad feeling as if something was slipping out of her control.
During the meal, Sarah and Benjamin discussed the specific details of the project. The others at the table could not join in the professional discussion and ate their food quietly.
Even after the meal, Sarah still seemed unsatisfied.
"Miss Miller, you came here in our car. Let us give you a ride back," said Isabella Moore, linking her arm with Benjamin's, presenting herself as an intelligent and gracious hostess. "This way, you can continue chatting with Benjamin."
Sarah didn't notice their intertwined arms. After considering for a moment, she said, "Okay, thank you for the offer."
Her car was still at the flower shop, and she needed to go back and retrieve it.
Besides, it was best not to disturb Alex and Sophia.
"We'll be in touch," said Sofia, a little reluctant. "Sarah, remember to call me if you need anything."
"Okay, take care on your way."
After Sarah finished speaking, she nodded to Alex and walked away.
Alex watched the three figures gradually disappear into the distance and furrowed his eyebrows.
He was puzzled, "From what it seems, Benjamin and Antonio don't seem to have any relation, but why... does he seem so concerned about Sarah? Could there be other thoughts?"
Sofia remained silent. "What do you think, Sophia?" Alex didn't notice her abnormality and expressed his worries about Sarah, "I'm really afraid Sarah has been deceived by him." Alex's thoughts were simple. Although he had let go of his feelings for Sarah, they were still genuine friends, so it was only natural for him to care about her.
Alex was still the one who cared the most about Sarah. Sofia felt bitter and sorrowful but suppressed her sadness and forced out a smile, pretending to jokingly say, "Sarah knows what's going on. You're so worried. Could it be that you still can't let go of her?"
Alex's expression changed, and he frowned, "Sophia, don't talk nonsense." He was now Sophia's boyfriend. How could he still be unable to let go of Sarah? This statement was simply unreasonable. If he hadn't let go of someone, he wouldn't be able to be with Sofia.
He disliked it the most when Sofia said things like this, whether it was a joke or a test, he didn't like it. Sarah wasn't Sofia, he could distinguish between the two.
Alex stopped speaking and walked ahead first. Sofia watched his retreating back, feeling a sudden sense of helplessness as if she were a deserted child.
When would Alex truly see her?
