Chapter 35 Antonio Always Misses His Late Wife

Antonio narrowed his disapproving eyes, glaring at audacious Harper.

Since when did Harper get so gutsy? Who taught her to throw threats around like that?

He'd been letting her get away with too much lately, and now she thought she ran the show.

But honestly, Antonio was stumped. He needed Harper to seal the deal with BrianTech Solutions Inc.

Then, he spotted Sarah lurking outside the door, a quick flash of something in his eyes.

Sarah caught his look and dipped out without a word. No way was she getting mixed up in their drama.

Next morning, a knock yanked her out of dreamland.

"Who the heck is it?" she grumbled, dragging herself up and rubbing her eyes as she shuffled to the door.

When she opened it, her eyes popped wide open like she'd seen a ghost.

There was Antonio, holding Harper's tiny hand. Both were in chill clothes, looking like they were ready for a fun day out.

This had to be a dream.

Harper's eyes sparkled as she grinned and chirped, "Luna, let's go!"

She grabbed Sarah's hand and started pulling her along.

Sarah, still half-asleep, was totally lost. Where the heck were theygoing?

The black car cruised towards the city's outskirts, leaving behind the concrete jungle and noisy traffic.

All you could see were green mountains and clear waters, with air so fresh it felt like a spa day for your lungs.

Harper stuck her head out the window, eyes closed in bliss as they drove.

She took a deep breath and shouted, "It's so pretty here, even the wind tastes sweet!"

Antonio chuckled. Sweet wind? Yeah, right. But he couldn't help but smile.

Whispering Pines Estate was nestled in the mountains, looking like a fancy hidden castle. It was luxurious, just like Ares had said.

Every brick and tile screamed high-end.

The living area was at the mountain's base, with two-story villas and private yards, perfect for some peace and quiet.

The whole place was decked out, fancy but not over-the-top, showing the builder's attention to detail.

The estate wasn't open to the public yet, so it was super quiet.

The car rolled into the parking lot, where Ares was waiting. Tall, handsome, and with a playboy vibe.

Ares rocked a floral shirt and white pants, his hair perfectly styled with bangs casually hanging over his forehead. Light brown sunglasses perched on his nose completed the look.

Antonio stepped out of the car, flashing a smile. But then Harper hopped out too, and Ares' grin froze like he'd seen a ghost.

He'd heard a little girl's voice last night; it had to be her!

He sauntered over, leaning in close to Antonio and whispering, "Is this your kid? When did you have a daughter?"

His eyes were glued to Harper, checking her out from head to toe.

Harper was like a mini-Antonio; no doubt she was his kid!

Ares had been worried Antonio was still moping over his late wife, but it looked like he had a new girl and a kid already!

Antonio took a step back, his face icy, clearly not in the mood to chat.

Harper, on the other hand, looked up boldly, meeting Ares' gaze and sizing him up, then joked, "This uncle looks like my good friend."

Ares' mouth twitched at that.

Inside the car, Sarah recognized Ares' voice, and her face darkened, her eyes filled with disdain.

It was Ares!

Both troublemakers were here today!

She got out of the car with a cold expression, not even bothering to look up.

Ares hadn't expected Antonio to bring a woman. When he saw her, he instinctively bowed and said, "Hello, Sarah!"

His over-the-top manner made Sarah hate him even more. Thinking of what Ares had done back then, it was inhumane, taking away her only friend...

Let bygones be bygones. The fact that Ares was still thriving made her feel the unfairness of it all!

She let out a barely audible cold snort, still not deigning to give Ares a glance, her attitude icy, saying, "You've got the wrong person."

Ares was stunned, then realized his instinctive action was hard to shake.

"Sorry, I'm Ares, a friend of Antonio's and the owner here."

He extended his right hand to Sarah, but she didn't even flinch.

Ares frowned but shrugged it off. He withdrew his hand and casually smoothed his hair, saying, "Let me show you around."

With that, Ares led them on a tour, introducing the place while unabashedly checking out Sarah.

Luna had traces of Sarah in her face, but they didn't look quite alike, and their vibes were totally different.

He remembered Sarah's gentle nature, but Luna seemed prickly. Besides, Sarah was long gone.

So who was Luna?

The more Ares thought about it, the more puzzled he became, his eyes glued to Sarah's face. Sarah, however, couldn't care less, holding Harper's hand and letting her lead the way to see what she liked.

Ares was so engrossed in his observation that he failed to notice a scorching and dangerous gaze directed at him from the side.

"Keep staring and I'll blind you." Antonio's warning sent a shiver down Ares' spine.

Ares asked, "She really isn't Sarah?"

Antonio shot him a cold glare and snapped, "None of your business!"
