Chapter 644 Too Many Coincidences with Antonio
Benjamin fell into deep thought.
Sarah didn't notice and took a deep breath, asking, "It's getting late. Mr. Harrington, how about going back to rest early?"
It must be said, in moments of calm between them, she could actually feel relaxed.
However, their adversarial relationship was already set in stone.. After tonight, there would never be such a harmonious scene again.
Benjamin moved his fingers slightly, and his inscrutable gaze seemed to have many things to say.
His lips parted slightly. "Alright."
They came down from upstairs, and Sarah pressed the button for her floor, and in just a few seconds, they arrived. Then turned to Benjamin beside her, and smiled, "Mr. Harrington, goodbye."
Benjamin's face remained calm, his enigmatic eyes fixed on her. After a moment, he said, "Goodbye."
He watched silently as Sarah, who had briefly occupied his thoughts, walked away, the elevator doors closing between them.
Sarah didn't think much about it and fell asleep shortly after returning to her room.
Early the next morning, she called Sofia, preparing to return to the Capital City together.
They agreed to meet directly at the airport.
Sarah was looking around for Sofia's figure when she first saw Benjamin walking towards her. He was wearing a black coat, exuding an aura that kept strangers at bay.
He was a completely different person from the approachable man he had been last night.
Since they had already met, it was unrealistic to pretend not to know each other.
Sarah's face showed no extra expression, and she nodded slightly. "Mr. Harrington, what a coincidence."
Her tone carried a hint of distance, suggesting they were acquaintances at best, far from being considered friends.
A fleeting emotion passed behind Benjamin's sunglasses, and he nodded without changing his expression. "Ms. Miller is also returning to the Capital today."
"Yes, then I'll be on my way."
After saying that, Sarah turned and left without a trace of reluctance.
Their interaction had ended last night.
Before long, Sofia arrived.
It wasn't until Sofia got closer that Sarah noticed Sofia didn't look well, clearly having argued with Alex the night before.
Sarah hesitated to speak, while Sofia pretended nothing had happened, linking arms with Sarah as they walked. She explained, "I may have had a bit too much to drink yesterday. Everything alright with you?"
Seeing her like this, Sarah realized Sofia didn't want to talk about Alex, so she pretended to know nothing. "Yes, I'm fine."
"That's good. It's just a pity we couldn't close the deal this time." Sofia sighed in relief, then angrily said. "Virgil, that opportunistic trash! He agreed and then backed out, it was so disappointing!"
She decided she needed to take precautions.
From now on, the Harris family's business must never be entangled with the Newman family again!
Sarah patted her wrist comfortingly and shook her head. "Mr. Newman's choice is understandable, after all, we didn't have any written agreement."
He was afraid of offending Benjamin.
Sofia raised her voice. "So what? Verbal agreements should be honored too." Sarah scrutinized the expression on her face, sensing that she was channeling all her anger from last night with Alex into this matter.
Sarah thought, 'These two really are...'
But when it comes to matters of the heart, outsiders can never truly understand.
The tension between Sofia and Alex stemmed from the unconventional beginnings of their relationship, each harboring fears of loss. When issues arose, they avoided direct confrontation.
So their feelings for each other were beyond doubt.
Sarah thought for a long while and decided not to tell Sofia about the gift for now.
She was still angry, and if she knew Alex had asked her to pass on a gift, it was uncertain what she might overthink and say in a fit of rage.
With Alex's temper, he certainly wouldn't persist like Antonio did back then.
Right now, they were just in a bit of a tiff.
Sarah felt there was still a chance to reconcile them.
It would be better if Alex gave the gift himself.
Sofia had no idea what was going on in her mind. After venting her anger, she felt much better and started catching up on sleep as soon as she boarded the plane, sleeping all the way to the Capital City.
Benjamin arrived before them. He went straight to the office from the airport and began working as soon as he entered.
Daniel immediately came in with a thick stack of documents.
"Mr. Harrington, these all need your signature. Please review them."
"Alright." Benjamin didn't even look up, engrossed in reading a proposal in his hand. He gestured absently, "Place them over there. I'll get to them later."
After a long time, Benjamin finished reading the proposal and glanced at the stack of documents beside him. He ultimately chose to open his computer and start dealing with emails first.
He kept scrolling down, gliding quickly to the bottom. Suddenly his movements stopped, then he slowly moved up. He finally stopped at an unread email titled "Detailed Investigation of Antonio's Life."
The sender was Daniel.
Benjamin remembered that not long ago, he had asked Daniel to investigate that.
But later, he felt it was unnecessary to know about Antonio and had thrown the investigation results into the shredder.
Daniel, meticulous as ever, had quietly sent an electronic copy.
But now, Benjamin no longer felt it was "unnecessary" to understand Antonio.
Without hesitation, he clicked to open it.
The contents were very detailed.
The more Benjamin read, the tighter his brows furrowed. His finger joints gradually turned white as he gripped the mouse tightly, as if he might crush it at any moment.
The previous records were impressive, but what caught his attention was, the accident that happened to Antonio occurred over four months ago.
That was also the time when Benjamin had his car accident.
Even though he was reluctant to admit it, Benjamin couldn't help but feel that the coincidences between him and Antonio were indeed too many.
Benjamin meticulously pieced together the timeline in his mind.
Over four months ago, both Benjamin and Antonio had accidents. Antonio disappeared, and Benjamin lost his memory.
Three months later, Benjamin came to the Capital City because the group was acquiring the Valencia family, and inevitably got entangled with Sarah.
Then, Antonio's "body" was found.
Only Benjamin's memory remained a blank.
