Chapter 638 Two Incompatible People
Alex's demeanor grew even colder when he thought that.
"I know!" Sofia, completely unaware, squinted her eyes as she got up from the couch and tried to kiss him. "Since you're already here, let me kiss you. I want to..."
She really missed him after such a long time apart.
"Why are you so mean?" Her voice was soft and aggrieved. "Since you won't come to me, I'll come to you."
Even if it was just a dream, it was fine.
Her soft arms wrapped around Alex's neck, and she began to kiss his face bit by bit.
Alex inhaled her unique scent, and a string in his mind grew tighter and tighter.
He suddenly remembered the scene he had just witnessed, where a strange man tried to kiss her, and Sofia didn't dodge.
And now, she was clearly drunk, her hazy eyes probably couldn't even tell who he was, and in this state, she was trying to kiss him!
She still thought he was that man from earlier.
Alex took a deep breath and pulled her away.
"Sofia! Wake up!"
Sofia, unprepared and unsteady on her feet due to the alcohol, fell back onto the couch. "What are you doing!"
Alex was practically fuming with anger at Sofia.
He couldn't forget that the reason he and Sofia got together was also because of a drunken night.
This thought filled Alex with a sense of dread. If he hadn't shown up today, she might have ended up doing the same thing with another man.
If that man, compared to himself, makes her feel more joy, can she also kick herself away and be with someone else?
Thinking about this made Alex feel like his heart was being squeezed, and the veins on his forehead throbbed.
He glared at Sofia on the couch, not knowing what to do with her.
"Sofia!"
What should he do with her?
Sofia looked at him with her big, watery eyes, tears welling up as if they could spill over at any moment. She was indeed quite drunk, thinking she was dreaming, and even in her dream, Alex was unwilling to comfort her.
Alex stared at her for a while, then turned and walked towards the bathroom.
Soon, he came out with a towel soaked in cold water and angrily placed it on Sofia's forehead. "Since you're so drunk you can't recognize people, then sober up!"
The cold sensation made Sofia shiver.
She sobered up a bit, looked around in confusion, and her gaze fixed on Alex in front of her. She called out softly, "Alex!"
It really was him!
Sofia had thought she was dreaming, but now she realized everything was real. Before she could feel happy, Alex coldly said, "You're awake!"
He was really hurt, unable to shake off the image of that man trying to kiss her and her not refusing.
Alex clutched his chest, pretending to be stern. "I didn't know before that Ms. Harris could be so casual."
A faint hint of sarcasm played at the corner of his mouth, and his voice was icy as he said, "Do you think anyone can sleep with you?"
Though phrased as a question, his eyes seemed to have already decided the answer.
Sofia's mind spun for a while before she understood what he meant. Her face turned pale as she looked at him in disbelief. "Is that really how you see me?"
"How else should I see you? We haven't been in touch for so long, and when I come to find you, I see you entangled with another man!"
Alex glanced around the room, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
"If I hadn't shown up, the person in this room with you right now would probably be that man!"
In the end, he couldn't continue.
Sofia clutched her dress tightly, staring at him.
Alex!
The man she thought about day and night had so easily judged her, believing she would be with another man.
And at this moment, his eyes were filled with disdain!
He despised her!
Sofia had never felt such shame and anger as she did now.
Her lips trembled with rage as she shouted, "Get out!"
Alex paused, frowning. "You..."
"Get out!"
Sofia even didn't want to hear another word from him. She grabbed a pillow from the couch and recklessly threw it at Alex, shouting, "Why did you come here? Get out!! I don't need you to find me. I don't care! If we’re not in touch, then let's never be in touch again!"
As she yelled, tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.
Seeing her cry like that, Alex felt a pang of pain in his heart.
Before he could say anything, Sofia got up, crying and pushing him towards the door. "I don't want to see you. Get out, get out!"
The anger that Alex had just suppressed flared up again.
She didn't want to see him because she thought he was interrupting her good time!
He gave Sofia one last deep look, then turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
Just as he stepped out, he stopped and let out a defeated sigh.
It shouldn't have been like this.
He had intended to give her a surprise.
He remembered that Sofia's birthday was in two days.
He had thought that, according to their agreement and tradition, Sofia would have happily come to find him by now.
But she hadn't.
This birthday was the first one they would celebrate together since they became a couple.
So even though they had argued before, Alex still wanted to keep his promise and give her the best surprise.
He had cleared his schedule and found Sofia's home.
But she wasn't there.
Alex checked her itinerary and found out that Sofia had gone to the north with Sarah.
Without thinking much, he had rushed over, only to witness such a heartbreaking scene. He never expected things to turn out like this.
Leaning against the wall, Alex sighed in frustration and pain. "Sofia!"
He was utterly helpless, not understanding why.
Normally, he was gentle, well-liked, and rarely had conflicts with anyone. He seemed capable of handling all kinds of relationships.
But why, when he was with Sofia, did he always find it hard to control his anger, feeling embarrassed and wanting to vent?
He knew clearly that his feelings for Sofia were love.
Perhaps, it was because they were incompatible.
When two incompatible people are together, they will only drag each other down.
