Chapter 778 Is She in a Relationship?

"Let go!" Sarah suddenly yelled, grabbing Mary's chin, her eyes narrowing a bit.

Mary tasted the metallic tang of blood in her mouth and snapped back to reality. She lost it for a second, her eyes turning red.

Almost frantically, Mary reached for some tissues and wiped her mouth like crazy. Her young face showed a sadness she just couldn't hide, no matter how hard she tried.

'Just now, I was so lost in thought that I bit my own lip until it bled. How could I be so useless? If Timothy saw me, he'd think I'm stupid,' Mary thought.

"Stop wiping," Sarah said, scared by how hard Mary was scrubbing, and reached out to stop her.

Mary's bitten lip turned bright red. After dabbing it fiercely with a tissue, her lips looked oddly rosy. She couldn't hold back and turned away, her shoulders shaking. "Sarah, what's wrong with me? Lately, I always feel weird, but I don't get why. Am I sick?"

Sarah didn't say anything, just looked at Mary with pity. She sighed and pulled Mary into a tight hug. "It's okay. You just miss your dad, right? You're still a kid. It's okay to be a little fragile."

Mary almost burst into tears.

Kenneth had died in a car accident suddenly, and even though months had passed, every time Mary thought about it, it felt like a nightmare. She struggled to pull herself together and find strength, but the pain of losing someone so suddenly was still raw.

To be honest, Mary hadn't been happy at all since marrying Timothy. Her naturally sensitive nature seemed to amplify, and now she felt like a burden to him, living a life dependent on him.

Every day, she felt so tired. Her friends at school were living bright, cheerful lives, but Mary felt like she was withering.

If she hadn't met Sarah, Mary might have kept all these feelings bottled up forever.

When Timothy arrived, he saw Mary crying, and his stern face instantly tightened.

Hearing the commotion, Mary looked up, her tear-streaked face flushed red, and her eyes were red too, looking like a bullied little rabbit.

With Timothy around, goosebumps rose all over her body. Her cheeks ignited with a fresh wave of embarrassment, and she quickly tried to wipe away her tears, burying her head, not daring to look at him, which made Timothy's face even colder.

'Mary is never one to suffer in silence. If she's wronged at the hospital, she immediately speaks up, holding my sleeve and demanding justice. This time, though, she said nothing and even tried to cover it up. What's going on?' Timothy wondered.

"Who bullied you?" Timothy asked, his face stern, stopping in front of Mary.

Afraid of revealing her thoughts, Mary instinctively covered her mouth, shaking her head desperately, her small face almost entirely hidden by her hands, leaving only her frightened eyes visible.

This scene made Timothy narrow his eyes dangerously as he wondered why she didn't tell him what had happened.

Suddenly, Timothy remembered the young boy he had seen following Mary when he went to pick her up from school, and his chest tightened instantly.

'Could it be that Mary is dating someone at school and got involved with a bad guy? I mean, when we got married, I said it was just a formality, and I'd take care of her and protect her without meddling in her personal life. But seriously, how long has it been since we got married, and Mary can't hold back?' With this thought, Timothy's face darkened, and the pen in his pocket was nearly crushed.

Looking away, Timothy kept reminding himself that his marriage to Mary was just to repay Kenneth's kindness.

Mary was young, and that accident had taken Kenneth's life. Timothy and Kenneth had easily decided her fate that day when she was still unaware.

Luckily, Mary didn't oppose it.

But Mary would eventually grow up.

Their age difference was obvious, and naturally, Mary would like someone who could make her happy, someone her age, not someone as dull as him.

Mary, already consumed by guilt, now found herself overwhelmed with unease as she waited for Timothy to speak.

She looked up quietly and suddenly met his gloomy eyes.

Mary was instantly stunned, not knowing what to do. She had never seen Timothy like this. In her mind, Timothy was always composed, indifferent, and rarely showed his emotions.

'Who has provoked him? Why does he seem especially unhappy today?' With this thought, Mary was flustered, not knowing how to react, completely unaware that she was the one who had upset Timothy.

Watching from the side, Sarah saw everything clearly. She vaguely understood the crux of their issues but didn't intend to interfere. She gently placed her hand on her lower abdomen, her eyes soft with a smile.

Mary and Timothy were walking the same path she and Antonio had walked, though different, the outcome would be the same; interfering now would only backfire.

They had to resolve it themselves.

"How long are you two going to stand there?" Sarah's voice broke their standoff, and Mary and Timothy snapped back to reality.

Mary bit her lip, trying to speak, but before she could, Timothy had already walked past her to Sarah's bedside.

Seeing this, Mary felt a bit disappointed but still sensibly stood aside without making a sound.

Sarah was pregnant now, and nothing could go wrong.

Although Timothy wasn't an obstetrician, since Mary cared so much about Sarah, he naturally had to pay more attention.

Moreover, Sarah's fetal movement just now was indeed quite unusual.

After monitoring the heartbeat and checking the ECG, Timothy breathed a sigh of relief but still cautiously asked, "Before the incident today, did you feel any discomfort?"

Sarah shook her head, a hint of doubt also surfacing in her mind.

The incident had happened so suddenly that even she hadn't reacted.

Not only Sarah, but Timothy also frowned.

He thought it over and finally focused on Sarah's food.

Though Sarah's behavior seemed unremarkable yesterday, the lack of suspicion was itself suspicious.

They thought it was caused by medication.

But Sarah had only eaten food from the hospital cafeteria, and after thinking for a long time, they couldn't figure out anything suspicious.

At this moment, the previously quiet hospital corridor suddenly became noisy. "Quick, there's a patient here with both legs broken!"
