Chapter 694 Why Do You Look So Much Like Antonio?
Benjamin, standing beside Sarah, turned to look at her with a serious expression and repeated, "Asa is dead."
Sarah's eyes flickered with a whirlwind of emotions.
She was undeniably agitated, yet she couldn’t grasp why.
'Asa is dead, how did Benjamin know? Or does it have something to do with him?' she thought.
After a long pause, she chose not to ask and instead responded faintly.Benjamin looked at her face, his eyes full of pity. "Sarah."
Sarah responded absentmindedly, then realized something was off. She looked at the sea, pretending to be calm, and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Don't worry. From now on, I will clear all obstacles for you." Benjamin's voice was rich and pleasant, as if making some kind of promise with the gentlest words. "I will never let your life be threatened again."
Sarah's ears were filled with these words, feeling as if her heart was being squeezed.
'Why is he saying these things? What does my life have to do with him?' she thought.
Sarah's eyes reddened, and she suddenly turned to him, locking her gaze with his.
"Benjamin, why have you changed so much all of a sudden?" she asked.Benjamin's expression froze, unable to answer under her gaze.
Sarah asked again, "Why are you saying these things to me? Do my affairs have anything to do with you? I clearly told you that even if you canceled the engagement, we wouldn't be together. So what else is there that I don't know?"
There was one more important question she didn't ask out loud: 'Why have you suddenly become so much like Antonio?'
So much that she could hardly tell the difference.
Benjamin listened to her questions, feeling as if a stone was blocking his heart, unable to find an exit in that dark world.
How he wished he could tell her everything!
But he couldn't as it wasn't the right time yet.
His eyes were bloodshot. He swallowed hard and said with difficulty, "Sarah, there are things you'll understand one day. But I can't tell you now. Just trust me—I will never harm you. Promise me you won't ask any more questions, okay?"
His deep gaze held countless words, as if he wanted to engrave Sarah's face into his mind.
Sarah looked into his brown eyes, feeling the pain and struggle inside him were not fake.
Indeed, something was tormenting him.
Yet she still didn’t understand why he couldn’t express it.
And if he couldn’t tell her now, what was the point? She was quite confused.
However, if he didn't want to say, then forget it.
Sarah withdrew her gaze and said, "I won't ask, but I also hope you won't do anything out of line in the future, Mr. Harrington."
The emotions on her face softened, and she added, "We clearly agreed before to return to our previous arrangement."
There was nothing between them to begin with.
Benjamin's face showed a trace of helplessness; he reached out his hand. "Sarah."
But Sarah didn't pay attention to him. She got up and walked to the other side, deliberately keeping her distance from him.
She had just wanted to come to this place today.
Although she couldn't understand why Benjamin would appear in this remote and undeveloped place, Sarah didn't want to think about it anymore.
Benjamin could do whatever he wanted.
Just like he said, the truth would eventually come out.
And she no longer looked forward to that day.
Benjamin's hand froze in mid-air for a while, then he helplessly withdrew it.
He noticed that Sarah's emotions appeared quite stable, so he decided to say nothing more and simply observed her movements to ensure her safety.Time passed unknowingly, and the quiet atmosphere became somewhat subtle, leaving only the noisy waves and the disturbing sea breeze.
At this moment, Sarah looked at him expressionlessly and said, "Mr. Harrington, I'm ready to leave now. I just hope there won't be so many coincidences between us next time."
After saying that, she didn't stay any longer, turned around, and walked down the mountain.
Hearing that, Benjamin smiled bitterly, as he hadn't expected Sarah would think he was deliberately creating coincidences and following her here.
He felt complicated inside but still followed her.
Soon, Sarah reached her car, got in without any hesitation, and quickly disappeared from his sight, leaving only a cloud of exhaust fumes for Benjamin.
...
After returning from Mistpeak Mountain, Sarah continued to care for Brady at home and occasionally took the kids out to play. However, she hadn't seen the scheming Benjamin again.
She was a bit puzzled, wondering if Benjamin's personality had changed.
Sarah didn't know that he hadn't returned to the villa in the past two days.
Harold was arriving in Capital City, so Benjamin chose a hotel at random to avoid drawing attention and set aside all company matters to pick him up at the airport.
Harold arrived at the airport on a private jet, followed by a group of bodyguards, and walked out through a private passage.
Benjamin, wearing a gray coat and sunglasses, waited at the entrance.
From a distance, he saw Harold.
Harold wore a black suit and matching hat, and his hand, holding a cane, was still adorned with an expensive custom leather glove.
He was in black from head to toe.
A flash of hatred briefly crossed Benjamin's eyes, but it was quickly masked by a smile.
"Dad, welcome to the Capital City." He smiled and went up to give Harold a big hug. "You must be tired from the journey? Let's go to the hotel and rest."
Harold's eyes, concealed behind his sunglasses, were sharp and calculating as he examined Benjamin. After a long time, he smiled and said, "Not tired. I can just stay in your house."
Harold wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but he felt that Benjamin seemed somewhat different. He prided himself on his ability to see through people's true nature, so it was impossible for him not to discern Benjamin’s real self.
The Benjamin before him certainly didn’t appear to have regained his memory.
He finally squinted, thinking he must be overthinking.
Benjamin took the luggage from the bodyguard, his expression remaining neutral. "You might not be aware, but my villa here was burned down a few days ago. As such, I'm also staying in a hotel now."
Harold seemed very surprised and asked, "When did that happen?"
"A few days ago," he replied.
"I really didn't know, but it's good that you're all okay."
He acted like a concerned elder, full of care in his words, then turned to instruct, "What about Isabella? Even if you don't want to marry her now, you can't just ignore her!"
After all, Isabella was someone he had adopted. Calling her his half-daughter wouldn't be an exaggeration.
Benjamin nodded. "She's fine, also staying in a hotel."
As for which hotel, that wasn't his concern.
Harold didn't say anything more and got into the car. He suddenly seemed to recall something. "By the way, what are your plans for the upcoming acquisition of the Valencia family and the Jerrett Group?"
