Chapter 947 Is Everyone Avoiding You?

Bob took a deep breath, trying to look helpless. "Sarah,Fox is still inside and hasn't woken up yet. It's normal for Aunt Chen to be worried. The cops took Mr. Harrington in for questioning, but it's probably just routine. You don't need to stress too much."

He sighed again, looking downcast. "I'm sorry, I bear some responsibility for this... I didn't mean to put you in a tough spot."

Sarah replied, "Stop calling him Mr. Harrington. His last name is Valencia."

Bob's eyes flickered, but he said nothing.

Sarah had a feeling Bob already knew, and continued, "No one wanted this to happen. But... whatever you plan to do, you should inform me first. It's really disrespectful otherwise."

Bob's tone grew more remorseful. "I thought... you liked Nia so much, you'd be happy about this. I wanted to surprise you. I'm really sorry... Sarah. Don't worry too much. I'll do my best to speak on Mr. Valencia's behalf. If there's anything else I can help with, just let me know."

Sarah held her forehead, taking a moment to gather herself.

Her mind was a mess, and Bob's voice was starting to sound like noise.

"Bob... I'll get the best lawyer for Antonio to handle things at the police station. But regarding what just happened, I hope you can ensure the Morrison Family's security cooperates with the police and tells the truth. That's the only way to give Fox a proper explanation."

Although she believed Antonio didn't hit anyone, the security guards' attitude made her worry they might exaggerate the facts.

Sarah sighed, glancing at the emergency room door. "Call me if anything comes up. I need to go now."

She knew Antonio must be feeling frustrated and wronged, and she couldn't leave him alone.

Bob was really too self-centered. If it weren't for Nia being so adorable, she wouldn't want to deal with him anymore.

Bob's eyes darkened briefly when he heard she was leaving, quickly scanning his assistant and conveying a lot in that glance.

Then he turned back to her with a calm and understanding expression.

"Alright, I'll make sure they cooperate. Don't overwork yourself. Call me if you need anything. Let's go, I'll walk you out."

Sarah didn't respond, just got up and left.

But as soon as they reached the hospital entrance, trouble struck again.

A group of men appeared out of nowhere, their faces twisted with malicious grins, clearly up to no good.

"Mr. Morrison, having a date at the hospital, huh?"

"Yeah! Made it hard for us to find you!"

Bob's bodyguards immediately surrounded them, including Sarah.

She was bewildered, her eyelids twitching as she whispered to Bob, "Are these people here to settle a score with you?!"

One problem after another, what was going on?!

Bob's face turned grim, and he protectively pulled her back, his voice heavy. "I'm not sure... The Morrison Group recently expanded into Capital City, so we've had some conflicts in the business world. I didn't expect them to stoop so low as to block us here. Sarah, protect yourself."

He pushed Sarah towards the nanny holding the baby, then turned and demanded, "Who are you?! Do you know this is a hospital?"

The two leading men laughed heartily. "Of course we know!"

"If it weren't a hospital, we wouldn't have been able to corner your whole family here!"

"We're here to invite you for a chat!"

The man's deep voice was full of menace, his eyes scanning the area before settling on Sarah and Nia. "So this is the Morrison Family's new little girl and her beautiful godmother... Such beauties, why don't they come with us?"

He rubbed his hands together, reaching for the child.

Nia sensed the danger and started crying loudly.

Bob grabbed the man's hand. "If you have a problem, deal with me! Don't touch them!"

This action ignited the fight.

The men behind him lunged forward, and a brawl ensued.

The nanny, scared and helpless, began to cry. "Ms. Miller, my legs are weak..."

Sarah was caught off guard but had to take the sobbing Nia from the nanny, trying to stay calm. "Don't be afraid... Someone must have called the police. It's broad daylight; they'll be here soon."

Her plan backfired completely.

By the time the police arrived, Bob was already injured.

Sarah clutched Nia tightly, standing numbly in a corner, grateful the child was unharmed.

"Sarah..."

Bob was lifted by doctors and nurses, and Sarah noticed he was covered in blood.

He forced a smile. "I'm sorry... for causing you trouble again. Nia doesn't trust anyone else. Please take care of her for me..."

Sarah was utterly confused.

Could someone explain what was happening today?

"Sarah, Nia is so small. Please have pity on her. I trust no one else but you! How did those people know my schedule today?! The staff here are all new hires, and we haven't vetted them yet..."

Sarah frowned. Was he implying there was a mole?

If that were true, it wouldn't be safe to leave the child with them.

But...

Bob coughed several times in his anxiety.

The doctor couldn't stand it anymore and interrupted urgently. "Ma'am, since you're holding the child, it means you're willing to help. Sir, you need to get checked immediately. Your injuries are serious!"

With that, they quickly took him away!

Nearby, the bodyguards were also taken by the police for questioning, leaving Sarah and the child alone.

Sarah stood there, stunned, unable to comprehend how things had escalated.

She looked down.

Nia was still crying but looked at her as if she recognized her, pouting and waiting to be comforted.

The nanny hadn't heard Bob's words earlier but now pleaded with her, "Ms. Miller, since Mr. Bob Morrison entrusted Ms. Morrison to you, please take care of her... I really can't handle Ms. Morrison."

She backed away, waving her hands. "Besides, I need to take care of Mr. Morrison... Please!"

Seeing her run off, Sarah had no choice.

She looked at Nia and sighed.

"Do you think everyone is avoiding you?"

Nia sucked on her finger, blinking.

Such a small, fragile child... She couldn't just leave her.

Sarah had no choice but to take the child with her.

She hurriedly called James on the way, asking him to contact the best lawyer to get Antonio out first.

Antonio was taken back for questioning, and the circumstances were undoubtedly far from pleasant.

She wondered how he was doing.
