Chapter 936 How Exactly Did the Child Come
The day flew by in no time.
By the afternoon, Sofia felt a bit awkward and said, "Mr. Morrison, you've been working hard today. How about you stay for dinner?"
After all, he had helped watch the kids all day, so it was only fair to offer him a meal.
Bob smiled warmly and shook his head. "Sofia, you're too kind. You're Sarah's friend, so that makes you my friend too. We can be more casual with each other. But I can't stay for dinner; I've got some business to take care of back at the office."
He then waved to the kids and bent down to say goodbye.
"I have to go today. Next time I visit, I'll bring some gifts."
The kids were a bit disappointed but nodded understandingly.
"Take care, Mr. Morrison! See you next time!"
"Alright, see you next time."
Bob left the Valencia Villa, got into his car, and the warm smile on his face gradually faded.
He sat for a moment, then took out a few strands of hair from his suit pocket.
These were picked up from Harper earlier.
Soon, he would know if Nia at home was really Sarah's child!
Bob suppressed the excitement in his chest, carefully placed the hair into a prepared sealed bag, and called his assistant, immediately flying back to Bay City.
His assistant was waiting for him. "Mr. Morrison, what do you need?"
Bob handed over the bag. "Come with me to get some of Nia's hair, and take both samples for a DNA comparison."
The assistant was shocked but didn't dare to ask more questions, quickly following his boss's lead.
"I need the results as soon as possible. Also, no one can know about this, including my mother."
"Understood!"
After the assistant left, Bob had no mind for anything else and stayed in the nursery, his deep gaze never leaving Nia's face.
The more he looked, the more certain he felt about the answer in his heart.
Early the next morning, the assistant returned with the test results.
The results were exactly as he had guessed!
Nia was indeed Harper's child!!
What a coincidence!
Bob held the report, standing by the crib, staring at the sleeping little girl, feeling his heart race powerfully.
The assistant was unsure of his reaction and hesitantly spoke, "Mr. Morrison..."
"It's alright."
Bob's voice was slightly hoarse. "You can go now. Remember, no one can know about this."
"Get it."
The assistant responded solemnly and left.
After he was gone, Bob couldn't suppress his overwhelming joy, staring at Nia in the crib with a foolish smile.
How lucky he was! To get Harper's child in such a twist of fate!
Wasn't this a second chance from heaven?
Yes...
It must be!
The more Bob thought about it, the more he felt his idea was right. Heaven was supporting him in getting Sarah back! Only he could save her from the mess she was in!
So, he couldn't tell Harper about Nia just yet. He would use this child... as leverage to get Sarah away from Antonio!
As for that worthless man...
He could just disappear!
A while later, Una finished breakfast and happily grabbed her son's arm.
"Bob, now that Nia's condition is stable, I'm planning to hold a formal recognition banquet to let everyone know she's part of the Morrison family. What do you think?"
Bob paused, his brows slightly furrowing. "Mom, isn't that a bit rushed?"
"I don't think it's rushed at all!"
If it weren't for Nia's health issues, she would have done it long ago!
A gleam flashed in Bob's eyes, and he smiled, putting an arm around her shoulder. "Mom, look, Nia is still so small. You should at least wait until she's a bit older and can interact closely with us. Then, when we hold the banquet, won't it show everyone how well she fits in with our family?"
Una thought about his words and found them reasonable. "Why didn't I think of that?"
"Yes! Our Morrison family daughter should appear before everyone like a princess, leaving the most perfect impression on our guests!"
"You're right."
Bob nodded in agreement. "So we don't need to rush. The most important thing now is for her to grow up healthy."
"Alright, alright!"
Una clapped her hands happily. "Then we'll do as you say. I'll go check on her now!"
The recognition banquet was thus lightly brushed aside.
Bob didn't go to the company immediately but turned to a maid, his expression serious. "Where is Cody now?"
"Mr. Morrison, Cody is exercising in the yard."
"Go, tell him to come to my study."
He then strode towards the study.
Five minutes later, Cody knocked and entered. "Mr. Morrison, what can I do for you?"
Bob sat in his chair, his back turned, his voice sounding distant. "Cody, how many years have you been with our family?"
Cody was taken aback by the address.
When Bob was little, he used to call him that.
His expression softened, eyes filled with memories. "It's hard to count. In the blink of an eye, it's been over forty years."
Back then, Brandon was still young, and Cody had been by his side, witnessing the Morrison Group grow to its current scale.
Bob had no intention of reminiscing. After a moment of silence, he turned around and asked about something else.
"How did you come by Nia you brought back?"
Cody was stunned again. "What do you mean?"
"I checked your entry records. There's no record of Nia. Aren't you worried that if this gets reported, it could affect the Morrison Group?"
His voice was calm but made Cody's heart skip a beat.
"Mr. Morrison, I didn't want to worry the madam!"
"Now you can tell me the truth. I'll keep it confidential."
Cody sighed and dared not hide anymore. "I did find Nia at the orphanage entrance, but the local adoption procedures are complicated, and we're foreigners, so..."
"To quickly bring Nia back to the madam, I... found a way to have a friend's ship smuggle her past customs."
So Nia was smuggled back.
No matter how Antonio searched, he wouldn't find any trace!
Bob suppressed his wildly rising smile, coughing lightly with his hand at his lips. "I understand. Given this, it's best not to mention it again. It could cause trouble for you and the Morrison Group."
Cody, anxious, didn't notice his odd behavior and nodded repeatedly. "Don't worry, young master, I won't say a word!"
"Good, Cody, you've served the Morrison family for a lifetime. I'm truly grateful for all you've done for my father. You're like family to us."
Cody smiled with relief, shaking his head. "It's what I should do. Mr. Brandon Morrison treated me like a brother. Now that he's gone, I'll continue to protect the Morrison family and you all."
But Bob's next words froze his smile.
