Chapter 806 No More Children
Timothy looked up at him, his deep eyes revealing no emotion. After a moment, he chuckled lightly, "Since you want to leave so badly, I have no reason to stop you. Take care of your wound."
He could see that Antonio was eager to leave, afraid that if he stayed one more day, Sarah would run off with someone else.
Antonio had done something wrong and felt guilty, which was understandable.
However, Sarah didn't seem to be that angry.
"Thanks." Antonio breathed a sigh of relief and turned to book a ticket on his phone. "Whenever you have time, you're always welcome to visit Capital City. We'll make sure to host you and Mary properly."
During his time in Marshall City, he had been very grateful for the help from Timothy and Mary.
Timothy smirked and teased, "Better wait until you win Ms. Miller back first. I just hope that the next time we meet, your marital status isn't divorced.'"
Antonio fell silent.
He booked the earliest flight, took no luggage, and headed straight to the airport. When he arrived in Capital City, it was just noon, and James came to pick him up. "Mr. Valencia, are we heading to the office or..."
"Of course, home first!" Antonio got into the car and closed his eyes to rest, pressing his temples with his long fingers. Perhaps because he was almost home, his anxiety grew even stronger.
When they arrived at the villa, James hadn't even fully stopped the car before Antonio impatiently opened the door. "You go back to the office first. I'll call you if I need anything."
Before James could respond, Antonio had already walked away.
Antonio strode quickly inside, not even caring about the pain from his wound.
The sunlight bathed the entire villa in a bright glow. The quiet environment allowed the sounds of insects and birds from a distance to be clearly heard. Two maids were trimming the flowers in the yard, but no one else was around.
He searched upstairs and downstairs but didn't see Sarah or the kids, not even Kevin.
Antonio checked Brady's room. Brady was doing much better but still couldn't stay awake for long periods. He was sleeping soundly in bed.
So, Sarah must have taken Kevin and the kids out.
Thinking of this, Antonio felt both relieved and more anxious. How would Sarah react when she saw him?
He returned to the master bedroom, wondering if he should prepare a surprise.
But before he could think of a surprise, he noticed something was wrong.
All the newborn items he and Sarah had bought for the baby were gone.
Antonio quickly opened the closet and saw that the previously packed space was now empty. Even the nursery, once filled with toys, was bare.
His uncontrollable panic extended to his chest, causing a sudden pain.
At that moment, a maid passing by the door saw him clutching his chest and hurried over, concerned. "Mr. Valencia, are you alright?"
Antonio's face was pale. Ignoring her question, he urgently asked, "Where did Sarah go?"
The maid, frightened by his expression, took a step back. "Mrs. Valencia went to the hospital."
"The hospital? What for?"
The maid quickly replied, "Mrs. Valencia didn't say. She went with Ms. Smith and didn't let us follow."
Antonio's unease grew stronger. He closed his eyes to suppress the headache and waved her off. "I see. You can go back to work."
He stood there, clutching his chest, the light casting a lonely shadow over him as anxiety quietly spread.
Antonio took out his phone, unable to resist the urge, and called Sarah.
He had tried calling her several times before, but she hadn't answered.
This time, unexpectedly, the call was answered after a few rings. Sarah's indifferent voice came through, "Congratulations, Mr. Valencia. Are you alive now? What do you want?"
Sarah was sitting with Mary in the OB-GYN waiting area, calmly taking the call and handing a document to Mary.
She was well aware of Antonio's condition. Over the past week, she had been in daily contact with Timothy to check on Antonio's treatment.
She also knew he had returned to Capital City today.
Antonio was hurt by her coldness but didn't dwell on it. He asked directly, "Sarah, are you and our kids okay?"
"Sorry, no." Sarah feigned indifference, her voice devoid of emotion. "I don't want to have the baby anymore, so I came to the hospital."
"What?" Realizing that Sarah was having an abortion at the hospital, Antonio felt like he had been struck by lightning. Before he could say more, the call was disconnected, and subsequent calls went straight to voicemail.
Sarah must have blocked him again.
Antonio, frantic with worry, stumbled downstairs, grabbed a car, and sped to the hospital.
Sarah said she didn't want the baby. How could that be?
Regardless of whether they kept the baby, having an abortion at this stage of her pregnancy would be very harmful to her.
Antonio's heart ached, his face pale, but he seemed oblivious to the pain, pressing the gas pedal harder.
At the hospital, Sarah hung up and tossed her phone aside.
"Sarah." Mary looked at her with concern, gently stroking her belly.
"I'm fine." Sarah smiled at her and quickly patted her belly. "Baby, Mommy was just joking. Don't take it seriously."
Mary's expression turned serious as she spoke to the belly, "Yes, your mommy loves you the most. Those words weren't meant for you, so don't listen!"
The two of them took turns reassuring the baby, afraid it might be misunderstood.
The things Sarah had said on the phone were meant to provoke Antonio.
Sarah was determined to give him a lesson. Otherwise, he might continue lying in the future.
After a while, Mary checked the time. "Sarah, the test results should be ready. I'll go get them."
"I'll come with you." Sarah stood up, holding her waist. "The doctor said everything is fine. Once we get the results, we can leave."
They had come to the hospital for a prenatal checkup.
Although her scheduled checkup wasn't due yet, Sarah had been worried about the baby due to all the recent stress, so she came early.
Fortunately, everything was fine, and the unsettling fetal movements she had felt before hadn't reoccurred.
Mary looked at the test results as they walked. "All the indicators are normal, Sarah. You don't need to worry."
She put the results in a bag and linked arms with Sarah. "So, are we heading back or visiting Cynthia?"
After all, Antonio had returned. Although Sarah still seemed angry, she must be concerned about his condition. They couldn't keep sulking forever, right?
Sarah saw through her thoughts and snorted, "I'm not forgiving him that easily."
