Chapter 31 Will Antonio Raise His Daughter?
But then, bam! He realized there was another layer inside!
Sarah suddenly got what was going down and lost it. She almost fell for Antonio's smooth moves!
She kicked Antonio in the chest and slapped him. "You creep!"
Harper, who was snooping outside the door, gasped and covered her mouth.
She thought, 'Oh no, how could this happen? Antonio is such an idiot.'
Harper had done so much for them!
The next day was the weekend, and Antonio was chilling at home.
Since the morning, Sarah had been giving Antonio the cold shoulder. Whenever she ran into him, she acted like he was invisible, not even glancing his way as she walked past.
Antonio kept a stern face, with a mark on his left cheek from Sarah's slap the night before.
It was a handprint.
Even though a night had passed, the handprint was still clear as day. Sarah saw it too, but she didn't feel bad at all. Instead, she sneered inside, thinking Antonio totally deserved it!
Harper, stuck in the middle of this awkward mess, didn't dare to make a peep.
When it was almost lunchtime, Sarah opened the fridge and found it empty.
Harper blinked and asked, "Is there really nothing left?"
Sarah was helpless. In such a big house, how could the fridge be empty?
They stood in front of the empty fridge in silence. After a moment, Sarah sighed. "Harper, wanna go grocery shopping with me?"
Antonio didn't like strangers in the house, so there were hardly any maids. Sarah had to do everything herself, but she wasn't here to be a maid; she was here to find evidence!
Unlike Sarah's mixed feelings, Harper was super excited. "Sure! I wanna buy lots of snacks!"
Sarah was amused by Harper's excitement. She knew Harper loved hitting the supermarket.
Sarah said, "Then let's change clothes and head out right away."
With that, Sarah led Harper upstairs to change clothes, only to bump into Antonio.
Antonio had heard Sarah's words. He frowned slightly, eyeing the person in front of him.
Was she planning to bail?
"Going to the supermarket?" Antonio's voice was low and indifferent. "I'll go with you."
Upon hearing this, Sarah's mouth twitched. Why was he tagging along?
She immediately wanted to find an excuse to refuse, but Harper jumped in first, "Sure, let's go together!"
Antonio finally got that he needed to find ways to patch things up with Sarah!
So, Sarah had no choice but to take the CEO of the Valencia Group to the fanciest mall in Silvercrest for shopping.
She originally wanted to hit the nearest supermarket to grab a few things, but Antonio insisted on coming here. As a maid, she didn't dare to refuse.
At the supermarket, Sarah didn't give a damn about Antonio and held Harper's little hand as they shopped.
Antonio watched Sarah's back, his eyes deep, and followed her with big strides.
"Wow." Harper looked at all the food and couldn't help but exclaim, "There are so many snacks!"
She excitedly dragged Sarah towards the snack section. Sarah pushed the shopping cart while Harper was on a mission to grab all the snacks.
On the way here, Antonio had promised her she could buy loads of snacks, so Harper didn't hold back. Anyone watching might think she was prepping for a snack apocalypse.
Harper said, "This place is like heaven. I wanna live here!"
Sarah's eyes were filled with tenderness, but she still sneakily put some of the unhealthy snacks back on the shelves.
Antonio followed closely, occasionally tossing a few items into the cart. Sarah noticed he was picking things she used to like.
Sarah's eyes turned cold, filled with disdain.'Does he believe he can probe me with this tactic? That's seriously underestimating me!' she mused.
Sure enough, Antonio kept watching her reaction, his eyes probing. But after a long time, Sarah showed no expression, completely ignoring his actions.
At this moment, Harper held a tin box and jumped in front of Antonio, asking, "Can I have this?"
Antonio looked down and saw Harper's big, blinking eyes and her face full of longing. She was holding a box of imported chocolates.
Antonio said, "Of course." However, Sarah thought, 'Does Antonio know how to raise a kid? Those sweet chocolates will only cause cavities!'
Harper jumped up in excitement. "Awesome!"
Seeing Harper's excitement, Antonio felt inexplicably happy. He couldn't explain why, but at that moment, he had only one thought: whatever Harper wanted, he would give her.
They wandered around the supermarket, finally pushing two full shopping carts to the checkout.
Suddenly, Harper remembered something. "Oh, I forgot to get macarons!"
Sarah looked helpless and said, "You've already bought a ton of sweets, you can't buy any more."
Harper was instantly bummed out.
Seeing this, Antonio said indifferently, "You're not her mom, why do you care so much?"
Sarah wanted to curse him out, but she couldn't blow her cover right now, so she had to swallow her anger.
Harper nodded in agreement and said, "I want them."
Sarah looked down and saw Harper's innocent face, but her eyes clearly showed a hint of mischief.
Sarah had no choice but to go back alone to get the macarons.
As she walked to a section of the store, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye.
Suddenly, Sarah's pupils contracted, and her eyes turned cold.
It was Lusa!
What the hell was she doing here?
