Chapter 785 Overwhelmed by Their Sweet Love
From this, it seemed Harold must still be alive.
Otherwise, why would someone be working for him, harming Sarah and her kid?
And he and Harold had already started fighting. Harold must have found out that Sarah was only pretending to be dead before. Where on earth was Harold hiding?
With this incident, Antonio didn't dare leave the ward anymore. He had food brought in and, after eating with Sarah, the two of them fell asleep in each other's arms on the spacious hospital bed.
But their sleep was far from restful; their brows remained tightly furrowed the entire time.
Two hours later, Sarah opened her eyes and immediately saw Antonio leaning against the bed's edge, half-closed eyes, supporting himself with one hand. "Antonio."
"I'm here." Hearing her voice, Antonio's eyes snapped open, and he sat up straight. "You're awake? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere? Hungry?"
Faced with his barrage of questions, Sarah couldn't help but laugh, "No, I'm fine. Can you help me up? I need to go to the restroom."
"Sure." Antonio helped Sarah to the restroom and waited outside the door.
But it wasn't long before he heard a small gasp from inside.
Antonio's hair stood on end, "Sarah, what's wrong?"
There was no response from inside, just the sound of a faucet being turned on.
Panicking, Antonio imagined all sorts of scenarios and pushed the door open.
What he saw was Sarah with red-rimmed eyes and a sad expression on her face.
She seemed startled by Antonio's sudden entrance and called his name in a panic.
Antonio's heart broke, "Sarah, what's wrong?"
Sarah finished washing her hands, turned off the faucet, and turned her face away. After a moment, she said, "I have stretch marks on my belly! A long one! It scared me! How did this happen? I didn't have any when I was pregnant with the triplets."
Antonio was momentarily stunned, then couldn't help but laugh, "So that's why you gasped?"
Sarah glared at him, "What kind of tone is that? These are stretch marks; is that a small matter? They might stay on my belly forever!"
Antonio laughed even harder, "I've already bought you some skincare oil. It's okay. I'll apply it for you after your bath tonight. Don't cry; it's no big deal. Even if you had a hundred of them, you'd still be beautiful."
"Antonio, are you asking for a beating? Shut up!" Saying this, she raised her wet fist to punch Antonio.
Antonio carefully caught her hand, squatted down, and curiously asked, "Where is it? Let me see."
Sarah felt a bit down, "Don't look. There's nothing to see. Like you said, there might be more in the future. It's not pretty. I'll never wear belly-baring clothes again."
Ignoring her, Antonio lifted her shirt.
What he saw was a round, adorable belly, especially knowing it was carrying their love's fruit.
Every time he looked, Antonio felt moved.
This was his lover, his wife, who had already given him three of the world's most wonderful children, and soon there would be a fourth.
He tilted his head and saw a stretch mark on the lower left side of Sarah's belly, about the length of a pinky finger, crooked and small.
Antonio found it adorable.
He knew how much pain a woman endures during childbirth and that the damage to her body is irreversible.
If he couldn't even accept a small stretch mark, he wouldn't be worthy of being a man.
He didn't want Sarah to feel insecure because of it.
Women didn't need to please anyone; they should embrace and love everything about themselves.
Antonio deeply loved the confident, charming Sarah.
Sarah, still embarrassed, pushed Antonio's head away, "Why are you so close? If you dare to dislike me, I'll beat you ."
Before she could finish, she felt a warm sensation on her belly.
Antonio had kissed the stretch mark she found ugly without hesitation.
One kiss wasn't enough; Antonio held her belly and kissed it several more times.
Coincidentally, the little one inside seemed to feel Antonio's closeness, woke up, and playfully kicked several times.
Sarah, amazed by this interaction, quickly broke into a smile.
Antonio stood up and tenderly kissed her forehead. "Sarah, if you keep talking about whether I dislike it or not, I'll be sad."
Sarah widened her eyes, "Why would you be sad? It's not on your body!"
Antonio pouted, "You're implying that after the explosion and all those surgeries, I have so many scars that even I find them scary. You just have a tiny, cute mark, and you're saying I dislike it. Aren't you implying that you actually dislike my scars? If you really think that, just say it. Don't worry, I won't cry too loudly."
Sarah was silent.
After a while, she couldn't help but laugh and pushed Antonio."Alright, stop acting cute. If I disliked you, would I still sleep with you? I'd have told you not to take off your clothes in front of me! Let's go out; why are we crowding in the restroom ?"
Sarah knew Antonio was trying to comfort her.
In the past, she wouldn't have been upset over something like this, but she didn't know why she felt so sad and wronged just now.
Maybe it was the powerful pregnancy hormones.
But Antonio was right; neither of them should dislike the other. After all, they were spending their lives together. When they were old, wouldn't they both be wrinkled and toothless?
Thinking of that scene, Sarah wanted to laugh again.
She then pushed Antonio out of the restroom.
Antonio understood that a woman's emotions were sensitive during pregnancy and gently said, "After this baby is born, I'll take you and the kids on a trip around the world. How about that? To make up for everything I owe you."
"What about the company?"
Antonio waved his hand, "I have plenty of money. Even without the company, I can support you all."
"That's not certain!" Sarah teased, "I'm very spoiled. I need good food every day, and I can't do without beautiful clothes and purses ."
"What else? Tell me all at once so I can remember." Antonio asked.
"And I can't do without you."
The hand on her wrist tightened momentarily, then loosened, showing Antonio's emotional turmoil.
Sarah had anticipated his reaction and pulled his hand back, intertwining their fingers. "Whether in the past or now, I've never wanted you to give up anything for me, including the things you love to do. So, for the rest of our lives, as long as we're together, I'm already very content."
"Sarah." Hearing her words, Antonio felt both moved and emotional.
They drew closer, and Antonio cupped the back of Sarah's head, about to lean in when the ward door was suddenly pushed open.
The three of them looked at each other.
