Chapter 264 I'll Take My Husband Home First
"Antonio, is that you?"
Antonio was already half-drunk. He slowly raised his head, exerting a lot of effort just to make out who it was.
"Serene?"
Clearly, Serene hadn't expected to run into Antonio by the lake.
She sat down with some concern, snatching the bottle of alcohol from Antonio's hand. "What happened? Why are you in such a state of intoxication? Where's James? Why isn't he with you?"
"Nothing... There's nothing going on."
Antonio stared dully at the surface of the lake. His eyes felt swollen, and his nose was tingling.
Serene sighed, "I saw what happened with Mr. Valencia Sr. Don't be too sad. He must have just lost his mind for a moment and wouldn't really want someone to kill you."
"You should try to understand. Valencia Inc. relies on you."
Serene had no idea what had happened to Antonio. She thought he was upset because Lucien had planned to harm him.
Upon hearing this, Antonio laughed self-deprecatingly.
To Lucien, what did it matter to kill someone who had caused the death of his own grandson?
Perhaps Lucien was right. If it weren't for him back then, his elder brother wouldn't have had that accident.
Valencia Inc....
Hah, he's not even surnamed Valencia!
Antonio remained silent for a long time. He took the alcohol back from Serene's hand and drank it again.
Serene couldn't help but worry, so she continued to sit here with him.
Meanwhile, back at the villa…
Sarah had prepared a table full of dishes but couldn't reach Antonio, no matter how hard she tried.
She had been under the impression that his talk with Lucien wouldn't take long, yet he still hadn't returned.
Sarah had no choice but to call James.
But James also didn't know where Antonio had gone.
"After Mr. Valencia came out of the prison, he left on his own. I don't know where he went!"
James was also getting anxious. Something this big had happened, and yet no one was allowed to follow Antonio!
"Go to the places he often goes and find him. No matter what, let me know when you find him."
As Sarah spoke, she changed clothes and went out to search.
She felt immense worry for Antonio. She traversed the streets, searching diligently until, at last, she spotted a familiar license plate by the side of the lake in the park.
Sarah's hanging heart finally eased a bit. She walked towards the lakeside, calling out his name as she walked, "Antonio—"
But the next second, Sarah's voice abruptly stopped.
She watched as two figures cuddled by the lake, observing Serene's gentle profile beside Antonio. She felt as though her feet were rooted to the spot...
A gentle breeze brushed the shores of the lake...
Antonio struggled to stand, using the nearby tree trunk for support. His steps were unsteady.
"Antonio, be careful," Serene hurriedly approached, offering her assistance.
Antonio waved her away with a cold tone, "You don't have to worry about me. No one should. Just leave me alone."
"Antonio, please be careful..." Serene looked at him with concern, feeling somewhat helpless.
Suddenly, someone walked over.
"Antonio, why haven't you returned home? What are you doing here?" A questioning voice echoed.
Serene turned around, showing a hint of surprise.
"Sarah, what are you doing here?" she asked.
"Since you're able to be here, why can't I? My husband doesn't stay out late at night, so as his wife, it's only natural for me to come out and look for him," Sarah said, her expression serious.
Serene looked at Sarah's stern look, feeling instantly awkward. "I... just happened to bump into him."
"I didn't ask you. Why are you feeling guilty?" Sarah furrowed her eyebrows, walked over, and grabbed Antonio's arm. "Wake up. We're going home."
Antonio slowly turned his head, taking a long while before recognizing the person in front of him.
"Sarah... I don't have a home anymore."
Sarah smelled the alcohol on him and thought he was just rambling. She felt both angry and helpless but softened her tone, saying, "What do you mean, no home? I'm here to take you back, right?"
Antonio let out a long sigh, suppressing his sadness, and leaned on Sarah's shoulder, unable to speak for a long time.
"Ms. Jerrett, I'll take my husband home first. Thank you for taking care of him today. But if you happen to come across him again, please call me immediately," Sarah said, pausing briefly before adding, "Although I will educate him well once we get home, so there shouldn't be a next time. Goodbye."
Serene awkwardly tugged at the corners of her mouth. "Um, don't misunderstand, please."
Sarah gave Serene a forced smile as if giving her a response and then left with the heavily intoxicated Antonio.
Back at home…Antonio was half-asleep and half-awake. He couldn't even distinguish where he was at the moment.
"Antonio, do you know who I am?" Sarah tapped his face.
Antonio reached his hand out and waved it in the air before finally gripping Sarah's hand.
But in that instant of holding hands, he used the force to embrace her directly into his arms.
"Sarah, Sarah... What should I do, Sarah... Tell me, what should I do?"
