Chapter 226 You Won't Leave Me, Will You?
Did Serene just openly invite Antonio in front of Sarah, without any hesitation?
Antonio slightly frowned, intending to decline, but Sarah gently patted him, indicating it was fine.
This kind of party was more about networking and business dealings. They were just dancing really, nothing out of the ordinary for them.
Sarah didn't want to appear selfish in front of so many people.
Moreover, considering Antonio had mentioned that Serene had saved his life, she decided to allow him to go.
After hesitating for a moment, Antonio nodded.
But as soon as he turned away, Asa found Sarah through the crowd and invited her to dance, too.
Since she had rejected Asa's proposal to have a meal together last time, she couldn't refuse again. Besides, seeing Antonio and Serene already dancing, Sarah thought it wouldn't be a big deal, so she agreed.
In the center of the dance floor, while Serene was dancing with Antonio, she expressed her gratitude for helping her arrange financing for the racecourse.
"Thanks for helping me contact the investor for the racecourse last time."
Antonio only half-heartedly responded, his gaze constantly searching the crowd for Sarah.
Suddenly, his whole body froze, and his expression turned ugly.
Asa had also arrived, and he had invited Sarah to dance!
At that moment, the music changed, and Sarah, not paying attention, stumbled a bit while following the shifting rhythms. Asa quickly reached out to steady her.
From a distance, they looked very close, revealing hints of ambiguity.
Feeling Asa's gaze, Antonio slowly raised his head to meet his gaze. This caused Asa to curl his lips into a sly smile.
Antonio abruptly released Serene's hand and strode over to Sarah, forcefully positioning her in front of him. His gaze was icy, locked onto Asa, asserting his dominance.
"Now, it's time to exchange dance partners."
This sudden turn of events left Sarah slightly stunned. She looked up at the darkened expression on Antonio's face, feeling somewhat at a loss.
Asa's smile froze instantly when he saw Antonio gripping Sarah tightly like that, and he appeared somewhat displeased.
"Mr. Valencia, what do you mean by this? Sarah and I are just friends. You shouldn't treat her like this."
His words carried a hint of accusation, composed but not subordinate, which sounded particularly grating to Antonio.
"Step aside."
The depth of Antonio's eyes emitted an icy coldness, like the deathly aura of a hellish demon descending.
For a moment, the two locked eyes, their hidden animosity colliding fiercely.
Seeing that neither was willing to back down, Sarah hurriedly grabbed Antonio and pulled him toward her.
"Asa, I'm sorry. He might have misunderstood. Please don't take it to heart," she quickly apologized to Asa, but her hand gripped Antonio's tightly.
"Please restrain yourself from erupting," Asa said, pausing to soften his deeply furrowed brows. He took a step back, adopting a more understanding tone. "I'm fine, no need to apologize. Mr. Valencia, please don't misunderstand..."
Antonio's face immediately grew darker, his gaze icy as he glanced over Asa before turning and walking away with Sarah.
Sarah felt helpless, glanced apologetically at Asa, and followed Antonio, leaving the party hall.
"Antonio, where are you taking me?" Sarah stumbled along, her high-heeled shoes causing pain in her feet.
But Antonio didn't answer; his face remained stoic as he continued to pull her along.
"What's wrong with you? Asa and I—" Sarah's words were cut off as Antonio pressed her against the wall, his thin lips capturing hers in a passionate and lingering kiss.
In the dimly lit night, a few scattered lights revealed themselves.
Sarah felt her breath being stolen away, mingled with Antonio's intense masculine scent as if he wanted to immerse her entire world with his flavor.
Her pupils dilated slightly, and her whole body gradually softened. His well-defined muscular arms held onto her slender waist, not willing to let go.
Sarah felt her entire body heating up, and her fair face blushed.
It wasn't until she couldn't catch her breath anymore that Antonio slowly pulled away, but he still kept her tightly wrapped in his embrace.
She took in deep breaths of fresh air, her rosy lips now looking alluring and moist.
"Sarah, you can't leave me..." Suddenly, Antonio's hold on her tightened, and his familiar, deep, and seductive voice trembled with fear.
Sarah was surprised. She had never seen Antonio so unsure and afraid, like a child scared of being abandoned.
Her feelings became complicated in an instant, torn between her sympathy for Antonio's distressed appearance and her inability to understand why he would react this way.
Sarah hugged Antonio back and gently patted his back, explaining and consoling him with a hint of helplessness, "I won't, didn't we agree? I'll keep my distance from Asa, and you keep your distance from Serene. I did dance with him tonight. He invited me, and I couldn't find a reason to refuse, so we just danced."
But she could clearly feel Antonio's body suddenly stiffening.
"Are you truly not going to leave me?" Antonio asked.
