Chapter 711 Why Isn't She Here?

Antonio was about to lose it!

She kept asking where he was headed.

To see Sarah, duh! But he couldn't spill the beans.

He bit back his frustration, shot Margaret a weird look, and said, "I'm off to the hotel where I'm staying. It'd be awkward if you tagged along. Even though we used to be a thing, it's not cool since I don't remember squat. You get me?"

Margaret squirmed under his intense stare but kept walking beside him, saying, "Can we at least swap numbers?"

She had to finish her mission!

Antonio was done with Margaret and finally stopped in his tracks.

He glanced at her hand clutching his arm, his eyes flickering. As he lowered and raised his hand, he sneakily slipped a tiny bug into Margaret's bag.

This bug was something Brian had scored through some special means.

Meanwhile, Antonio reached into his pants pocket and felt a small electronic jammer.

He had painstakingly crafted this jammer over time, with some rare materials Brian had hooked him up with.

Of course, he hadn't told Brian about the chip in his body.

Brian didn't ask either and just went along with every request.

This jammer could temporarily mess with the chip's signal.

But it was just a disruption.

If the signal got completely cut off, Harold would definitely notice.

This on-and-off interference, though, might make Harold think there was a glitch with the chip.

Then, they could cook up another plan.

Margaret saw Benjamin deep in thought and looked at him with a hint of sadness.

She said, "Benjamin, didn't you say I looked familiar when you saw me? Why are you hesitating now? Don't you trust your own gut?"

Antonio snapped back to reality, stone-faced.

"I'm actually super confused," he explained, his eyes sincere. "I clearly don't know you."

"How could you not know me?" Tears finally spilled from Margaret's eyes as she said, "I've waited for you for so long. Can you not push me away and let me help you find your past memories?"

She added, "Besides, you can ask me anything. Wouldn't that make it easier to remember?"

Antonio watched her act quietly and eventually nodded. "Alright, what's your number?"

He didn't want Margaret following him to the hotel.

That would totally mess up his sweet time with Sarah, right?

After swapping numbers, Antonio glanced at her feet, signaling her not to follow. He told her, "If I remember anything or need something, I'll call you."

Margaret nodded blankly but then seemed to remember something.

She said, "Can you do me a favor? I lost my wallet. Could you give me a ride?"

Hearing that, Antonio's mouth twitched slightly, clearly not thrilled.

He glanced at his watch, pretending to be in a bind. "But I have an appointment with an old friend. I might not have time."

Margaret said urgently, "Where are you going? Maybe it's on the way?"

Antonio gave an address.

"It's on the way!" Margaret immediately put on her best puppy-dog eyes. "Please give me a ride? You never used to leave me hanging."

How amusing.

Antonio figured Harold must've really gone all out to find such a convincing stand-in.

But since things had come this far, saying no would look bad.

Especially since he might need Margaret later.

"Fine. Let's go," Antonio grumbled and started walking ahead.

Once in the car, he shut his eyes and leaned back, silently counting the minutes.

Soon, he'd be with Sarah.

Meanwhile, Sarah was also sitting in a car, not budging.

The taxi was parked by the curb, not far from the airport entrance.

She checked the time, wondering what was taking Antonio so long to grab his luggage.

Even though Sarah had gotten a text from Antonio earlier, she changed her mind after stepping out and decided to wait for him.

But she waited and waited, and still no sign of Antonio.

Sarah impatiently glanced toward the exit and froze.

Wasn't that Antonio?

And who was that gorgeous woman in his car?!

Sarah was speechless!

So Antonio had sent her away just to meet up with another chick?

Antonio was really something! Having a fiancée back home wasn't enough; he had to keep busy abroad too!

Before Sarah could react, Antonio's car zoomed past her, not noticing her at all.

'Antonio! What the heck is he up to?' she thought. Sarah took several deep breaths to calm herself, but the more she thought about it, the more pissed she got.

She thought for a moment and gave the driver a new address.

Antonio was being shady. Why should she play by his rules?

Since he was off with some woman and wouldn't think of her for a while, she didn't need to tell him where she was going!

None of this was in Antonio's plans.

After finally ditching Margaret, he had the driver turn around and head to the hotel he had booked.

Soon, the car pulled up at the hotel entrance.

As Antonio got out, he looked up at the building.

Thinking Sarah was here, he smiled warmly and walked to the front desk.

"Hey, I have a reservation for a suite. Lori Ramirez should've checked in earlier," Antonio said.

Lori was Sarah's alias when traveling.

After speaking, Antonio gave his name.

The receptionist glanced at him and checked the computer, saying, "Sorry, sir, but no one has checked into that suite."

Hearing that, Antonio's face fell. "What did you say?"

The receptionist confirmed, "No one has checked in."

If Sarah hadn't checked in, where had she gone?!

Antonio started to panic. He quickly pulled out his phone to call Sarah, but no matter how many times he tried, her phone was off.

Seeing his worried expression, the receptionist kindly asked, "Sir, do you need help?"

Antonio couldn't hear her. He was on the verge of losing it, repeatedly redialing.

'If Sarah hasn't come to the hotel, where has she gone? Did something happen to her?' he worried.
