Chapter 326 The Enigma of the CEO
Sarah found herself touched by Antonio's heartfelt plea. As their body heat rose in tandem, their cheeks flushed, hinting at an unspoken ambiguity. Their eyes locked, each seeing only the other's reflection in their pupils. Their breaths intertwined, and their eyes shimmered with unspoken emotions.
However, the sudden interruption by Harper shattered the delicate atmosphere between them. "Big Brother, Uncle Alex is here”" Harper announced, causing Antonio’s mouth to curl downwards in disappointment. Alex had come again. After a brief period of tranquility, he had unexpectedly shown up at their doorstep once more.
“I’ll go and take a look,” Sarah said, hastily pushing Antonio away. Her cheeks were still flushed, and her steps betrayed a hint of panic as she retreated. Antonio let out a deep sigh of relief. Did Alex do this on purpose?
Standing innocently at the front door, Alex held a large box and pushed his way into the study. Sarah adjusted her hair and greeted him with a warm smile. “Alex, you’re here.”
“Yeah, I just came to see the kids,” Alex replied, feeling somewhat guilty. He had used this excuse every time he came, but he wondered how many more times he could use it successfully.
“Ethan and Harper have been mentioning you for a while now. Why didn’t you come earlier? We could have had dinner together,” Sarah said, not concerned about what was happening in the study, but rather engaging in casual conversation with Alex.
Alex glanced at Antonio, who was approaching, his face clearly conveying the message: “hurry up and leave my house.”
"Forget about dinner, I'll go play with the kids first," Alex said, eager to avoid a confrontation with Antonio.
At that moment, Brian appeared and pulled Alex into the study. Antonio narrowed his eyes, his face full of reluctance. "Why did he look guilty when he saw me approaching?" he wondered.
"Why would he look guilty about anything? He came to see the children, let's go," Sarah said, pulling Antonio away. But Antonio didn't agree. He remembered the conversation he had overheard last time. Alex was discussing company matters with Ethan.
If Alex had simply wanted to explore the secrets of Valencia Inc., Antonio wouldn't have minded. But he would not allow Alex to exploit his son. Antonio remembered the surveillance camera he had installed in the study. He needed to find out the truth!
Meanwhile, in the study, Alex unpacked the large box he had brought. Inside was a new type of smart robot. "Wow! This is so cool," Ethan exclaimed, his eyes fixed on the robot. It was every boy's dream.
Harper, although not fully understanding, was also intrigued by the machine. "Big Brother, is this the robot you mentioned that can help us with tasks?" she asked.
Brian nodded. "That's right. It was just shipped from abroad this morning, and I had Alex bring it over."
"Big Brother, can you show us how it works?" Ethan asked, unable to contain his excitement.
Brian activated the robot and entered his personal details. The robot used iris recognition and wouldn't mistake other people for its owner. "I am Brian," he declared.
Just then, a camera in the corner of the study flashed with an eerie red light. The robot quickly recorded all the information of the four children. Initially, Ryan was a bit apprehensive of the robot, but with Harper's encouragement, he warmed up to it. As boys, they were all naturally interested in things like robots.
"Brian, you're amazing! You even have a robot. What else can it do?" Ryan asked, his curiosity piqued.
Brian flipped through the instruction manual. "It can guard the house and even serve us tea. You just need to input the specified program. But it needs to be charged in time to ensure it has enough energy to operate."
Brian briefly taught the three children how to use the robot based on the instructions. "Can it patrol our house? Like Century Garden," Harper asked, finally showing some excitement. Century Garden was the name the children had given to the stray dog they cared for.
"It can even walk the dog. So when we're not at home, it can help walk Century Garden and you won't have to worry about him running away," Brian said with a smile, looking at his sister. He then input the dog-walking program into the robot.
"That's fantastic! I'll go get Century Garden right away," Harper said, running out to bring the dog in. As the robot received the command, it started circling in the study with Century Garden, occasionally emitting mechanical sounds, instructing the dog to circle and lie down.
"Can it cook for us?" Ryan asked. "Robots can't handle fire," Brian shook his head, "It has many other functions. We can explore them slowly. For now, let's get it acquainted with us."
Ryan nodded and started studying the instruction manual with Ethan. Alex smiled slightly when he saw this. It seemed that the efforts of the company's staff were not in vain. This robot was indeed suitable as a household caretaker.
Outside the study, Antonio listened to the laughter coming from inside and grew even more dissatisfied with Alex. This man seemed to want to win over not just Ethan and Harper, but Ryan as well.
"Kids, have a good time. If you have any questions, just give me a call. It's getting late, so I'll head back now," Alex said, opening the study door. The three children followed suit to see him off, with the robot trailing behind, making a heavy sound.
"What's that thing?" Antonio asked, looking at the large metallic figure, his brows furrowing deeper. Sarah walked over and saw the logo on the packaging box. "What's the brand of this robot?" she asked.
"Is this... from your CEO?" Sarah recognized the logo. It belonged to the company where Alex worked. There was no doubt that this robot must have been developed by Alex's company.
"Yes, this is our company's newly developed advanced intelligent robot. Thinking that your children would like it, he asked me to bring one over," Alex replied, forcing a smile. If he didn't know that his CEO was Brian, he would have thought that the CEO was indebted to him.
"Your CEO has been constantly sending gifts to the children. It's a bit embarrassing. How about we meet one day when he has the time, so that I can thank him properly?" Sarah suggested, feeling a bit puzzled. She had never met Alex's CEO, so why would he keep sending gifts to their home?
"He's always busy, but if he can find the time, he will definitely come to meet you," Alex replied, not daring to say anything more. He quickly excused himself. After seeing Alex off, Antonio took Sarah straight to the study. The surveillance camera had been recording everything that happened inside. Today, he was determined to show Sarah the true face of Alex.
However, as Antonio opened the study door and saw the scene inside, both he and Sarah were stopped in their tracks, stunned by what they saw...
