Chapter 344 Not Dying Easily

It was impossible!

"Don't gaze at me with such incredulity, Asa," Mrs. Jerrett's lips twisted into a frigid smile. "If you wish to keep your secrets, they must remain solely yours. My discretion, however, will be dictated by your actions."

Serene released a silent sigh, struggling to maintain her composure.

"Asa, there's no need for such drastic measures. It was merely an attempted violation. I can easily extract you from this predicament, provided you refrain from reckless behavior."

Asa's nod of approval was one of satisfaction. "That's reassuring."

Serene steeled herself, believing she held the reins of control, oblivious to the fact that he was the one pulling all the strings.

A frown creased her brow as she pondered how Asa had come to possess such knowledge. Suddenly, she recalled their initial collaboration, when he had mentioned that the success of the photographs was due to an anonymous benefactor who had ensured their safe delivery to Antonio.

At the time, Serene had dismissed it as insignificant. But now, she realized that if this unknown individual was privy to Sarah's secrets, then it was only natural they would know that she was not Kevin Jerrett's biological offspring.

Asa's audacity stemmed from the fact that the photographs from years past were genuine; a possibility that had never crossed Serene's mind.

The revelation left her stunned. Who was this enigmatic figure? Who else in this world was aware of her true identity?

Compared to Antonio, the exposure of her lineage was of greater concern to Serene. If a larger threat loomed, how would she navigate her future?

Her fist clenched tightly. She would not allow anyone to shatter her present existence.

She was the daughter of the Jerrett family, the rightful heir to the Jerretts Group, and she would remain so for the rest of her life!

"Asa, if you seek my assistance, you must be forthright with me," Serene lifted her gaze, her eyes boring into Asa's.

"What more do you wish me to confess?" Asa's demeanor was nonchalant, but his eyes glinted ominously in the dim light.

"How did you discover my true identity?" Serene queried.

"I've already told you, if you wish to keep secrets, they must remain yours alone," Asa chuckled heartily. "Surely you didn't believe that no one knew you had assumed Sarah's identity?"

"Nothing is foolproof. You would do well to consider how to protect yourself."

Asa's mocking gaze met Serene's. "Who revealed this to you?" Serene's tone hardened. "Honesty is crucial for our collaboration."

"First, you must secure my release before we can discuss collaboration."

Asa's response was followed by silence. Despite Serene's probing, he remained tight-lipped.

Without knowledge of the mysterious individual's identity, Serene knew she would never find peace.

"The time has come, take the prisoner back," Serene commanded.

Powerless, and with her visiting time exhausted, she had no choice but to depart. As she exited the police station, a murderous intent flashed in her eyes. Asa, and the unknown individual, could not be allowed to exist in this world any longer. They posed too great a threat.

...

That evening, Antonio, still consumed by grief, received a call from James. "Mr. Valencia, we have information that someone intends to assassinate Asa."

Antonio looked up, the sorrow in his eyes gradually replaced by a steely resolve. "Someone wishes to kill him? To allow him such an easy death, isn't that letting him off lightly?" Antonio's voice was still rough with emotion.

On the other end of the line, James hesitated, "Mr. Valencia, are you well?" "I'm fine. Keep me informed of any developments, and during this time, please refrain from disturbing my wife."

The night passed uneventfully, but Sarah found no solace in sleep until dawn broke. The weight of the revelations left her restless, tossing and turning throughout the night.

However, she managed to snatch a few hours of sleep before being rudely awakened by the commotion outside. "Sarah, open the door! You've locked me out, have you no heart? It's been so long without any news, have you lost your humanity?"

Already unwell, coupled with a night of fitful sleep, Sarah was nursing a severe headache. The interruption of her precious slumber by the clamor outside her door early in the morning did nothing to improve her mood.

"What's happening? Who's causing this ruckus?" An irate Sarah flung open the door and demanded answers.
