Chapter 76 What Crazy Thing Are You Doing Again?
The dining room was packed with desserts, but Harper didn't touch a single one. Her little face was scrunched up in a pout, and her big, clear eyes were shooting daggers at the guy across from her—her dad, Antonio.
Antonio was staring right back at her, suspicion and curiosity all over his face.
He was still hung up on last night. Was that kid really her?
They had a staring contest for what felt like forever until Antonio finally broke the silence. "Where were you last night?"
Bad move. Harper's face got even stormier, her little mouth clamped shut, glaring at Antonio like he just kicked her puppy.
Antonio had the nerve to ask? She was waiting for him at the hospital room, duh!
Seeing Harper stay silent, Antonio squinted. "Why aren't you answering? Feeling guilty?"
That just made Harper even more upset. Her little hands were clutching her dress under the table, thingking, 'What is Antonio even talking about!'
He didn't show up, and now he was giving her attitude and saying all this weird stuff.
Harper was fuming. She grabbed a fork and smashed the durian cake in front of her.
When Sarah came downstairs, she saw Harper's face all scrunched up with tears in her eyes. She immediately thought Antonio was at it again, bullying Harper.
She rushed over to protect Harper, snapping at Antonio, "What do you want now?"
First, he threatened her to come home with him, and now he was bullying Harper. What was his deal?
Antonio frowned. What was she talking about? They were the ones who started it this time.
Before he could say anything, Sarah cut him off, "Antonio, I'm warning you, stay away from Harper. If you lay a hand on her, you're in for it!"
Antonio let out a mocking laugh. That was harsh.
His face turned cold. "Sarah, do you really care that much about that lover's kid?"
Seeing Antonio spout nonsense again, Sarah quickly covered Harper's ears and snapped, "Watch your mouth in front of Harper!"
But Harper had already heard it, feeling even more upset. Antonio actually called her a paramour's child. That was too much!
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she jumped off the dining chair and ran upstairs.
"Harper!" Seeing Harper cry, Sarah panicked and turned to chase after her.
But Antonio suddenly stood up, his tall frame blocking her way. "You're not going anywhere until we talk this out."
""Are you out of your mind again?"" Sarah's eyes were blazing with anger.
Her words instantly provoked Antonio. His eyes narrowed dangerously. "Sarah, you betrayed me and had your lover's kid. Don't you think you owe me an explanation?"
Sarah let out a cold laugh and shot back, "Did I beg you to bring me back? This is all on you! If you're not happy, then divorce me. I'll take Harper and leave right now."
"Never!" Antonio interrupted harshly, grabbing Sarah's wrist tight. "I told you, I will never divorce you. Don't even think about it. When I catch your paramour, I'll make sure he wishes he were dead!"
Anyone who dared to mess with him over Sarah was asking for trouble!
Faced with Antonio's threat, Sarah didn't even flinch. Instead, she laughed, a laugh dripping with disdain. "Antonio, what's the point of all this?"
Antonio's face darkened. "What did you just say?"
Sarah kept going, "I don't love you anymore, and Harper isn't your kid. Yet you keep us around. What's the point?!"
Antonio's male pride took a hit, big time.
His chest was heaving, and veins were popping on his forehead. "Sarah, don't push it."
Seeing Antonio all riled up, Sarah's smile just got bigger. "Who's pushing it? I already said divorce, it's you..."
"Shut up!" Antonio roared, cutting her off. "Don't think I don't know what you're up to. You want to take Harper and run back to your lover? Forget it."
Just then, the phone rang, breaking the tension a bit.
Seeing the caller ID, Antonio's brows furrowed, but he still answered, coldly asking, "What is it?"
A soft female voice came from the other end. "Antonio, I didn't want to bother you, but my parents are back in the country and heard that Sarah is still alive."
Lisa paused, then continued in a shaky voice, "What happened to Lusa was her own doing, but my dad wants to see Sarah, and my mom wants to formally apologize to Sarah for Lusa's mess. So, we want to invite Sarah over for a meal."
Sarah, who was nearby, heard the call and felt instantly repulsed.
Lisa was so fake.
When had their family ever treated her and Brady like family?
Seeing Antonio looking at her, Sarah immediately shot back coldly, "I'm not going!"
Antonio gave Sarah a long look, a thought crossing his mind.
Then, as if he hadn't heard her, he said, "I'll bring her over."
He didn't say much more and hung up, looking at Sarah again. "Go get ready, I'm taking you over."
Sarah hated his bossy tone. Who gave him the right to decide without her say-so?
"I said I'm not going!" She snapped and tried to bypass Antonio to go upstairs to find Harper.
But her wrist was grabbed again, and she was yanked back.
Antonio stared into Sarah's eyes, his tone leaving no room for argument. "You're going."
Ignoring Sarah's reaction, he dragged her away. His grip was strong, and Sarah couldn't break free, her wrist aching from the tight hold.
Sarah shouted, "Antonio, let go of me!"
Damn it, Antonio was forcing her again. Didn't he know she hated that family!
Her resistance was useless, and Sarah was eventually shoved into the car. She was furious but had no choice but to go.
Thinking about the people she was about to face, she was filled with hatred.
Sarah's hands gripped the leather seat tightly, her knuckles turning white.
She was about to face her biological father, John, the person she hated most in her life.
