Chapter 91 His Care for You Is Evident
Right then, Alex strolled over with Harper in tow. When he caught sight of the scene, his usually chill face twisted with a flash of anger.
Harper, on the other hand, had her eyes wide open, hands slapped over her mouth, her heart thumping like crazy. 'Whoa, Antonio's killing it! So bold, so hot!' she pondered.
Alex frowned, glanced down at Harper, and instinctively covered her eyes with his hand. "Harper, don't look."
Antonio heard that loud and clear.
Antonio's actions came to a halt, and Sarah, finally able to breathe, used all her strength to shove the wild Antonio away, wiping her stinging lips with utter disgust.
Damn it, when would Antonio act normal?
He even pulled this stunt on Sarah in the restaurant, right in front of Harper!
Alex's face darkened as he walked over, his voice low, "Mr. Valencia, we're in public."
The message was clear: act right at social events.
Alex kept his cool, but behind that faint smile was a hint of annoyance.
All these years abroad, he'd always been Sarah's friend and respected her. But Antonio, right in front of him, was forcing her into this mess in public.
Just like Ethan said, Antonio was bad news.
But Alex could tell Harper was really into Antonio.
A few waiters and guests passed by, sensing the weird vibe, and couldn't help but sneak a peek.
Antonio was still fuming. He shot a cold glance at them, scaring them into looking away and hurrying off.
Pulling back his sharp gaze, Antonio looked at the adults and Harper in front of him, sneering inside, 'Anyone who doesn't know better might think we're a family of three. So what? Sarah's my wife and always will be.'
As for those guys eyeing her, he'd deal with them one by one; they were nothing.
Antonio's possessive stare landed on Sarah, and finally, without a word, he turned and left with a stern look.
Sarah noticed Antonio's gaze and frowned.
Knowing Antonio, he wouldn't let go easily. If he found out they had kids, he'd be even more stubborn!
She had to get him to sign the divorce papers before he found out the truth.
Once Antonio left, Alex looked at Sarah, noticing her pale face. He gently placed his warm hand on her shoulder and asked with concern, "You okay?"
Sarah exhaled deeply, calming her racing heart. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
Then, as if remembering something, Sarah suddenly asked, "By the way, how's Brian doing lately?"
Antonio had been around all day, so Sarah hadn't had a chance to ask Alex about him.
Even though Brian was a little genius and could take care of himself, he was still just a kid.
Now that Alex was back in the country, leaving Brian alone abroad, she was a bit worried.
Alex gave her a reassuring smile and said, "Don't worry, Brian's doing great in preschool, eating well, and sleeping soundly every day. I've got someone looking after him; no problems."
Hearing this, Sarah felt relieved and nodded. "That's good. Thanks for taking care of Brian."
Alex smiled gently. "No need to be so formal with me."
Meanwhile, in a swanky CEO office abroad, sitting in the big executive chair was Brian, the kid Sarah had been thinking about.
He sniffed his slightly itchy nose, his chubby little hands moving quickly, his big eyes glued to the computer screen, reflecting a bright light.
Moments later, a look of pride and joy spread across Brian's innocent little face. "Victory!"
Back in the private room, Antonio was MIA, and even James had bailed. Looked like dinner ended on a sour note.
Harper lost her appetite, pouting and zoning out.
Sarah didn't mind; with Antonio gone, she actually felt like eating.
After munching a bit, Alex gave Sarah a probing look and casually asked, "So, Sarah, what's the plan now? You don't still wanna be with Mr. Valencia, do you?"
Sarah immediately shook her head, disgusted. She took a sip of tea and said, "Hell no. We're getting a divorce. As soon as he signs the papers, I'm outta here with the kids."
Alex expected that answer, but...
He stared at Sarah and said meaningfully, "But it seems he won't let go easily. I can tell he cares about you."
From their first meeting, Antonio had shown great hostility towards him, and his behavior just now proved Antonio was jealous.
Even if Sarah genuinely wanted a divorce, Antonio probably wouldn't agree easily.
To Sarah, these words were laughable.
Antonio cared about her?
Sarah said angrily, "If he really cared, why did he betray this marriage in the first place?"
She could never forget that day five years ago when he betrayed her with Lisa, the woman she hated most, and even had Ryan.
As the one who betrayed the marriage, Antonio now had the nerve to forcefully order her to stay?
It was ridiculous!
Seeing this, Alex didn't press further. His gentle eyes hid a complex darkness.
Sarah didn't notice Alex's expression. After a long day, she was very tired.
Seeing that Harper wasn't eating anymore, she stood up, took Harper's hand, and smiled at Alex, "Thanks for helping me out earlier. I'll take Harper and leave now. See you next time."
Alex gave her a warm smile. "If you need anything, feel free to hit me up."
Then he looked down at Harper, saying, "I'll be around here for a while, so come find me often."
"I know!" Harper beamed and waved goodbye to Alex.
After saying goodbye to Alex, Sarah and Harper left the restaurant and saw the Valencia family's driver waiting for them.
It seemed to be under Antonio's orders. Antonio left but still had someone watching her.
On the way back, she was deep in thought about how to quickly get rid of Antonio.
It was impossible for her to accept someone who had betrayed her again, and the stinging pain in her lips kept reminding her of how domineering and unreasonable Antonio was.
This made her even more determined.
She must end things with him!
Harper occasionally glanced to the side, noticing Sarah's heavy expression, and couldn't help but worry.
She thought, 'Antonio is really stupid. He can't even make Sarah happy, and every time he causes trouble, she has to clean up after him.'
With her big eyes turning, Harper gritted her teeth and said angrily, "Antonio is so mean. How can he treat Mommy like this?"
Seeing that Sarah remained silent, Harper continued, "Doesn't he know that gentlemen are the most attractive to women? He's such a big dummy."
Hearing Harper's "scolding," Sarah finally turned to look at her. Seeing Harper's angry little face, she couldn't help but smile with relief.
Harper was indeed her daughter, noticing her bad mood and trying to cheer her up.
However, behind Sarah's smile was a hint of heartache.
She knew Harper was trying to make her happy by scolding Antonio, but deep down, Harper still liked him, who was irresponsible.
The kids only knew that Antonio had betrayed her, but they didn't know what exactly happened five years ago. Moreover, they were innocent and they couldn't understand the feeling of betrayal.
Only those who had been through it themselves, who had witnessed it firsthand, could truly grasp the profound disappointment and the soul-crushing pain.
